18TH APRIL 2011, IPOH – Fascination and trepidation, perhaps
that was how the children reacted when they first laid their eyes
on CHAMPS the Rabbit, the new mascot for CCM besides Cody
the Fish and Chewies the Lion. The new mascot made a debut
appearance during the 11th installation of Malaysia Unit Trust
Week (MSAM 2011) in Stadium Indera Mulia, Ipoh. Taking the
theme of Innovation, CCM showcased Gromax the paddy
booster, CCM Compact Water Treatment Plant (CWTP) that
provides alternative source of potable water supply by treating
lakes, rivers, ground and other water sources for rural areas, and
CCM Emergency Relief System; a mobile water treatment
system works in preventing the possible massive epidemic
outbreak due to contaminated water in disaster hit areas. The
similar model was implemented during the tsunami and
earthquake in Aceh in 2004. CCM Duopharma presented the
pellet technology that ensures maximum absorption and
efficacy of the natural compounds or extracts of the herbs.
During MSAM 2011, CCM contributed RM1,500 each to Pusat Harian
Kanak-Kanak Spastik Bandar Ipoh and Persatuan Ibu Tunggal
Muslimah Perak as part of its community programme. Apart from
that, KPJ Ipoh lent their dietician expertise in Chit Chat Diet session.
Some 177,000 visitors visited the Malaysia Unit Trust Week 2011 that
offered prizes and information on investment companies.

8TH APRIL 2011, KENINGAU – Over 500 students from schools in the Pensiangan parliamentary
constituency participated in a Rakan Alam Sekitar event at SMK Tulid recently. The children
discovered the important role that rivers and waterways play in the eco-system besides being a
source of drinking water as well as an avenue for transportation and recreation.
They gained insight into the richness and diversity supported by the waterways through a myriad of
activities ranging from colouring and drawing contests to simple experiments in determining the
quality of water and organisms found in them. They also learnt the importance of river conservation
and the negative effects of river pollution.
The Rakan Alam Sekitar 2011 was organised by the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment
and supported by Chemical Company of Malaysia Berhad (CCM). Its main objective is to educate the
younger generations on the importance of preserving the environment with focus on river
conservation, particularly rivers in Sabah, which are still one of the major sources of water supply in
rural areas.
The Rakan Alam Sekitar programme was launched nationwide in 2009 by the Ministry of Natural
Resources and Environment to encourage individuals within the community to appreciate and take
responsibility in conserving the environment while helping to curb pollution. The programme is
carried out by Rakan Alam Sekitar committee set up in each parliamentary constituency.
Being a responsible organisation, CCM contributed seed money of RM1,500 to SMK Tulid through its
Kelab Alam Sekitar to enable the students to pursue other environmental protection and
conservation activities. The event was officiated by Deputy Minister of Natural Resources and
Environment , YB. Tan Sri Joseph Kurup, who is also the MP for Pensiangan.
8TH-10TH APRIL 2011, BALI - KSCCM organised a 3-day/2-night trip to Bali for its members early this
month. The group flew to Denpasar International Airport in southern Bali in the morning and was
then transferred to Kuta Station Hotel where they refreshed themselves before adjourning for lunch
and sightseeing at Kuta Beach and Uluwatu Temple which is perched on a steep cliff 70 meters above
the ocean. Other places of interests were the Kintamani Volcano, Tanah Lot Temple and Tanjung
Benoa for its water activities such as water skiing, banana boat rides and snorkeling.
19TH APRIL 2011, BANGI - CCM Pharmaceuticals Division recently contributed Champs D-Worms 6 for
Cambodia in conjunction with a humanitarian programme organised by Majlis Belia Selangor (MBS) held in
Preak Khdan Village, Cambodia from 23rd – 25th April 2011. Mr. Vincent Teoh, Brand Manager for Champs
handed over the sponsorship worth RM1750 to En. Budiman Mohd. Zohdi, Chairman of Sabak Bernam MBS
in Bangi.
About 250 children from the village benefited from this programme for the treatment of worm infestation.
The programme was supported by the Asian Youth Council and Malaysia-Cambodia Youth Friendship Society
involving 15 members from MBS. As part of CCM’s corporate responsibility, CCM Pharmaceuticals Division
hoped to reach out to the underprivileged communities across the region while at the same time, making
inroads into Southeast Asian markets where potential for demand for Halal pharmaceuticals is high.
Champs D-Worms 6 chocolate flavoured tablet is suitable for both children and adults as it treats single or
mixed infestation of intestinal parasites including roundworm, whipworm, pinworm, threadworm,
hookworm and tapeworm.
