Welcome to Berehill House Today, bringing you the most up to date
July 2014
Welcome to Berehill House Today, bringing you the most up to date news and information.
Family fun day
The family fun day was a huge success, with lots
of people attending. It was lovely to see so many
residents and their families out in the gardens and
of course, the weather was beautiful. We were
entertained throughout by Jake Ward, a young
singer, who serenaded us with favourite songs
from the swing era. We have raised approximately
£500 to share between Berehill House and
Wessex Lodge amenity funds! Many thanks indeed to the relatives and staff who gave up their
time to help and make the day such a success.
Activities Survey
We asked some of you a range of
questions about the variety of activities we offer and your overall
experience of the activities you attend.
The results of the survey will be displayed on the
notice board in the lounge, but overall we will be
aiming to increase the range of activities and let
you know on a daily basis what is going on.
Jo is in the process of arranging some trips out
and will be finding out your preferences over the
next couple of weeks.
This month, we will be asking your
relatives views on how supported
they feel when they visit you.
Out in the garden….
Our garden area is
coming on beautifully. Barbara and
Alan in particular
have done a lot of
work. We now
have some lovely
tubs, the weeds are under control and
residents are able to spend time out there
enjoying the sunshine. Please remember
to wear a hat if you go out!
It’s a knockout!
We are looking for a skittles
team and a quiz team at Berehill House! Each month we will
play against the teams at
Wessex Lodge in a knockout
competition. Join the challenge and have
some fun!
Fundraising Coffee Morning
We are holding a fundraising
coffee morning on Saturday
27th July at 10.30am. The
proceeds will go to the Overton Hospice Shop, so please
come along, join us for coffee
and help raise money for a worthwhile
cause. We look forward to seeing you here
at Berehill. (£1 entry)
Doctors and District Nurses
Another busy month! A big Thank You
to our local surgeries who have provided a
great deal of support, advice and practical
help.
“Courage doesn’t always roar.
Sometimes courage is the quiet voice
at the end of the day saying,
I will try again tomorrow”

Foot Care
Competition Corner
Kari Davis, is becoming very
popular with our residents
and has very reasonable
prices - £10 for the gentlemen and £15 for the ladies.
Ladies, you get a foot soak
and cream with your treatment! Kari will be visiting
weekly, so if you would like your feet done,
please let any staff member know and we will
arrange it for you.
The answer to last months quiz was,
Mama Used to Say…..
Gwen’s mother used to
have two favourite sayings
that Gwen is sharing with
us this month
“If there is enough blue sky
to make a pair of trousers
for a sailor, then it will be a good day” and to
Gwen (who loved children) she used to say, “If
your arms were long enough, you would pick
up all the children of the world.”
Thank you Gwen.
Meal choices
At the last residents meeting
you decided that you would
prefer to be asked for your
choice of meal as you sit
down to lunch, instead of pre
booking. Hopefully this will
help you to enjoy your meal more and not
worry about changing your mind.
Date of Next Residents Meeting

What's on in Whitchurch?
Are you thinking of going to the Whitchurch
Annual Parish Fete on 12th July 2014? It is
being held at The Lawns, between 12.30pm
and 4.00pm, with music, food, stalls, arena
displays, games and competitions.
Join the Singing for the Mind Party on 21st
