Though you might be overrun with present requests from friends and relatives, keep your eye on the true meaning
of the holiday season by attending Project Transition’s annual Holiday Swing fundraiser. The local nonprofit will
kick off the giving season with the fundraiser, now in its 21st year, at the Dell Jewish Community Center, benefiting
people living with HIV/AIDS. Who knows? Perhaps that charitable spirit and excitement for dance will help you
snatch up that pair of round-trip tickets featured in the silent auction and cross one gift request off your list.
For those who have never set foot on a dance floor, or who are simply stuck with two left feet, dance lessons will
be offered at the beginning of the night to ensure that you’re a dancing pro by the time The Sentimental Journey
Orchestra performs. The 22-piece band ensemble and local jazz harmonists The Studebakers will entertain the
night’s guests with nostalgic performances of songs from the 1940s. After working up an appetite, guests will dine
on the Mediterranean-style dinner provided by Kurant Events. Guests who donate the Fred and Ginger sponsorship
of $2,500 will have a reserved table in the heart of the party and will even be treated to their own personal waiter
for the evening! All proceeds from Holiday Swing will go directly to Project Transitions’ programs aiming to provide
quality hospice, housing and supportive care for people living with HIV/AIDS in Central Texas. Tickets are available
for $55 at Top Drawer Thrift Store, Book Woman, Tapelender’s Video, and Project Transitions’ administrative office.
