Where do you live?

Peter and Andrew are brothers; James and John
too. Both families fished on Lake Tiberias in Capernaum.
They, of course, knew each other and were united by
friendship. They were among those families who were
uneasy; therefore, looked up to God. When the news
arrived that John the Baptist was preaching in the Jordan
River and announced the proximity of the Kingdom, they
decided to send their younger brothers, both young and
possibly single, to investigate and bring them news of the
Kingdom. They went, saw and heard John the Baptist, and
were possibly his disciples. John’s attitude is to be
admired because he lead them towards Jesus. "Behold the
Lamb of God," said the Baptist, they followed him and He
called them. St. Andrew is called the “Protocletos”, which
in Greek means, “the first called”; St. John is also entitled
to that title, but he obtained one much more valuable, "the disciple whom Jesus loved".
They accomplished their mission and returned to their Capernaum to tell their brothers they had found the Messiah.
They gave the good news and were evangelized so as to when Jesus came and called them, they left everything and followed
Him.
What admirable brothers! They fret about the Messiah and left their jobs to seek and find Him, to share the good
news, the Gospel, and then spent the rest of their lives following Him.
How is our family? Do we seek Jesus ? Do we ask Him where He lives?
To encounter Jesus, we need to sacrifice something, sacrifice what we hold so dear: time. Give the creator of time, a
little of your time.
We need to, perhaps sacrifice some interests, including work, to seek and find the one who gives us our daily bread.
We need to seek and find our own John the Baptist who will signal to us the Lamb of God. It could be our parents, our
spouse, sometimes our own children, a friend or a priest. Our John the Baptist will point us to Christ and it will be up to us
if we follow or not.
If we find Him, then it is our turn to preach about Him, evangelize our brothers so that they are willing to follow
Him when they are called upon. Where does Jesus live? Primarily, He who became man, for His love for us, has also become
bread for us, so that we may live and have eternal life in Him. We shall find Him living in the Eucharist, in the Sunday Mass
which we attend with such delight; but He also lives in every one of our brothers, particularly in those most in need.

y Juan también. Las dos familias se dedicaban
a la pesca en el Lago de Tiberiades, en
Cafarnaúm; desde luego que se conocían y
que estaban unidos por la amistad. Eran de
esas familias inquietas por las cosas que
miran a Dios, por eso, cuando llegó la noticia
de que Juan el Bautista predicaba en el Río
Jordán y anunciaba la proximidad del Reino,
decidieron enviar a los hermanos menores,
ambos jóvenes y posiblemente solteros, a
investigar y a traer las noticias del Reino. Y
fueron, vieron y escucharon a Juan Bautista,
posiblemente fueron sus discípulos y por eso
es más digna de admiración la actitud del Bautista que supo encaminarlos hacia Jesús a sabiendas de que los perdía. “He aquí
al Cordero de Dios”, señaló el Bautista y ellos lo siguieron y él los llamó.
A san Andrés se le llama el Protocletos, que significa en griego el primer llamado; san Juan tiene derecho también a
ese título, pero atesoró otro mucho más valioso: “el discípulo al que Jesús quería”.
Cumplida su misión regresaron a su Cafarnaúm a decirle a sus hermanos que habían encontrado al Mesías; ellos
dieron la buena noticia a sus hermanos, ellos los evangelizaron de tal modo que cuando Jesús llegó y los llamó, dejaron todo
y lo siguieron.
¡Qué admirables hermanos! Están inquietos por el Mesías y son capaces de dejar su trabajo para buscarlo, comparten
la noticia buena, el Evangelio, y después dedican todo el resto de su vida a seguir a aquel que los llamó.
¿Cómo es
nuestra familia?, ¿buscamos a Jesús?, ¿le preguntamos dónde vive?
Para encontrarnos con Jesús necesitamos sacrificar algo, sacrificar eso que apreciamos tanto: el tiempo. Damos al
autor del tiempo un poquito de su tiempo. Necesitamos, quizá, sacrificar algunos intereses, incluso laborales, para buscar y
encontrar a aquel que nos da el pan de cada día.
Necesitamos buscar y encontrar a nuestro propio Juan el Bautista que nos señales al Cordero de Dios. Pueden ser
nuestros padres, nuestro cónyuge, a veces nuestros propios hijos, algún amigo o un sacerdote. Nuestro Juan el Bautista nos
señalará a Cristo y ya será cosa nuestra si lo seguimos o no.
Si lo encontramos, entonces nos toca a nosotros hablar de él, evangelizar, a nuestros hermanos para que estén
dispuestos a seguirlo cuando él los llame.
¿Dónde vive Jesús? Primordialmente, el que se hizo hombre por amor a nosotros también se ha hecho pan para
nosotros, para que vivamos y tengamos vida eterna en él. Lo encontraremos vivo en la Eucaristía, en esa misa dominical a la
que asistimos con tanto gusto; pero también vive en cada uno de nuestros hermanos, sobre todo en aquellos más necesitados.
