2016 CAIB
STUDY FORMATS
Self-Study
The self-study format is offered to students who prefer the
independence of self-guided studies. Students have access to an online
advisor who provides guidance and is available to answer questions,
and offer assistance with difficult concepts from the course material
via email. Enrollment in a self-study program automatically enrolls a
student for the exam at the end of the term.

Online Group Discussion
Online discussion groups emphasize active participation and act as a
forum to share ideas. A facilitator guides the group as their discussion
leader via webinar. Classes are approximately 1-2 hours long and are
held once a week for the duration of the semester. Enrollment in the
online discussion group automatically enrolls a student for the exam at
the end of the term.

CANADIAN ACCREDITED
INSURANCE BROKER (CAIB)
Increase your business competence, confidence and credibility as
an insurance professional with the Canadian Accredited Insurance
Broker program. To establish yourself as a trusted insurance advisor,
you need to have in-depth knowledge of all aspects of property and
casualty insurance. The CAIB program immerses you in the study of
Personal Lines, Commercial Lines and Brokerage Management. Each
part in this four-module program culminates in a national exam. Upon
successful completion, eligible candidates are awarded the nationally
recognized professional designation.
Graduates’ use of the CAIB designation, as with all IBAC national
designations is restricted to licensed Property and Casualty insurance
brokers who are members or associate members of their provincial
or regional brokers’ association. CAIB is also open to non-members.
A Certificate of Completion is issued upon graduation and an annual
association member fee to carry the designation will be required.
Participants do not have to be licensed to take any of the CAIB
modules. However, they do have to be licensed to use the designation
upon completion. The courses can be taken in any order, but we
recommend the student commence with CAIB 1.
The CAIB program was developed specifically for the Canadian
insurance broker with the input of Canadian insurance brokers. You
will immediately transfer your newly learned knowledge and skills
from the CAIB program to your job at the brokerage. You can count
on the CAIB program to enhance your technical knowledge, general
business competency, and professionalism.
