From the diary of a young Polish
nun, a special devotion began spreading throughout the world in the 1930s.
The message is a reminder of what the
Church has always taught through
scripture and tradition: that God is
merciful and forgiving. In the Divine
Mercy devotion, the message takes on
a powerful new focus, calling people
to a deeper understanding that God’s
merciful love is unlimited and available to everyone — especially the
greatest sinners. St. John Paul II was
drawn particularly to the divine mercy
message, and in the year 2000 added
the Divine Mercy as a feast day for
the world-wide Church on the Sunday after Easter.
The Chaplet of Divine Mercy may be said at anytime
during the year. The Chaplet of Divine Mercy as a Novena
(saying a chaplet each day for nine days) is suggested to be
prayed especially from Good Friday until Divine Mercy
Sunday. Our Lord gave St. Faustina a different intention for
each day that He wished to be prayed. “By this Novena [of
chaplets, before the Feast of Mercy], I will grant every possible
grace to souls” (Diary, 796).
Join us on April 3rd at 2:30 pm for Adoration, and at
3:00 pm for the singing of the Chaplet and Confessions,
ending promptly at 4:00 pm (Confirmation Mass at 5 pm!).

The Octave of Easter, during which each day is
celebrated as Easter Sunday, concludes with the Second
Sunday of Easter, called Divine Mercy Sunday. Divine
Mercy Sunday recalls the infinite mercy of Jesus, earned
through His passion, death and resurrection, ready to be
poured out for the forgiveness of our sins. All it takes is the
asking, or more accurately, the proper asking. Jesus’ infinite
mercy is available for anyone who asks with even the
smallest intention of repenting for their sins and changing
their life to try to avoid sin. All we have to do is crack our
hard hearts just a little bit and Jesus is waiting to jump in.
The mistake some people can make is to ask for
forgiveness because they are sorry, in a general way, for the
harm their sins may have caused, but they have no real
intention of changing their lives. This is dangerous because
one of the conditions of repentance and forgiveness is a firm
intention to “amend our lives.” A firm intention comes from
analyzing the patterns of why and how we sin and then
taking active steps to try to change those patterns with God’s
grace.
Divine Mercy Sunday is celebrated by praying the
Chaplet of Divine Mercy on our Rosary beads. In the Chaplet
we pray for God’s mercy “on us and on the whole world.”
This is a very powerful prayer. Pamphlets are available in the
back of church to help you pray this, preferably with your
family. Can you imagine how pleased our Lord is with this
act of charity on our part? May God bless us in our ministry
of praying for each other and the whole world, and may we
experience the depth of Jesus’ mercy and love in our own
hearts. Happy Easter!

it’s hungry? It goes back four seconds.
HALO AWARDS – Those people who had their feet
washed. Like Peter, maybe they didn’t really want to
do that.
TILLIE & MAIZEY – What a fun day Easter turned out to be
with family & friends. By the end of the day though, Tillie
was tired. She had gotten up very early to look for Easter
eggs. Sometimes when she gets tired she gets cranky and
cries easily. She was thinking again about Jesus, and she
began to cry. She was ready for bed; so she asked Dad to
tuck her in and say bedtime prayers. What was “risen” all
about? Dad told her the story of Jesus again. They decided
that it was time for her to go to classes to learn more about
Jesus. They had talked about Jesus at home; but maybe now
it was time for more studying. Tillie knew other kids that went
to classes at church to learn about Jesus; and now she could
go too! She was excited about this.
Thank you to Dan and the youth group for
helping Stewardship Council fill the Easter
pails for the children of The Inn Between
families. Great job and lots of fun.
RE CHALLENGE – How can you share about the risen Christ? You
know that you are called to be missionaries through your Baptism.

Hello Everyone!
We hope you had a wonderful Easter Sunday celebrating the
Resurrection of the Lord. On Monday morning when I
turned on EWTN TV, to listen to the Mass, I learned that
Mother Angelica had passed away on Easter night. What a
wonderful day to be called to be with the Lord. We will
always be grateful to Mother Angelica for giving us EWTN
to spread the word of God. Thank you God for giving us
this wonderful person to share our faith.
