TYPICAL PROPERTIES
ROOF MATE is a water-based, high solids elastomeric
coating utilizing the latest advances in acrylic technology.
Premium quality acrylic resins are combined with reinforcing laminar pigments, an effective biocide package
and non-migrating fire retardants, resulting in superior
durability, weatherproofing, ultraviolet resistance,
algae/mildew resistance and fire retardancy. ROOF
MATE is a highly reflective, permanently flexible
“breathing” membrane, allowing moisture vapor from
the substrate or building interior to escape while remaining impervious to mass water penetration from the exterior.
ROOF MATE is also available in a high-tensile strength
version for roof areas subject to heavy maintenance
traffic, severe weather conditions, chemical fallout, etc.,
as well as a quick set version for use on applications
where a more rapid resistance to moisture is necessary.

PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
ADVANTAGES OF ROOF MATE
The Following Advantages Combine To Make ROOF MATE The Most Effective,
Low-Cost Method Of Extending The Life Of New Or Existing Roof Surfaces.
1. Low Cost Application:
ROOF MATE can be installed more efficiently
and at a fraction of the cost of other roofing systems.
No bulky or expensive materials to haul, lift,
spread, cut or glue. Simply apply ROOF MATE
by brush, roller or spray over the properly
prepared roof substrate. Cleanup requires only
soap and water. ROOF MATE conforms to all
federal and state air pollution standards and VOC
regulations.
2. Fast Application:
Roofs can be prepared and coated with ROOF
MATE significantly faster than applying conventional built-up or single-ply systems.
3. High Solids and Resin Content:
The high volume solids of ROOF MATE, along
with its excellent hide and vertical hold characteristics, allows for faster film build in fewer coats.
This enables ROOF MATE to uniformly cover
the uneven profile of textured substrates. The high
ratio of elastomeric acrylic polymer to filler
pigment provides long-term weathering and ultraviolet resistance.
8. Resists Abusive Weather:
ROOF MATE will take abusive weather conditions of
all types. Ice, snow, wind driven rain and sand do not
penetrate its tough, dense surface under normal conditions.
9. Long Term Fire Protection:
ROOF MATE utilizes non-migratory fire retardants
that become an integral and inseparable part of the
coating to provide permanent fire retardancy.
10. Reduced Energy Cost:
ROOF MATE topcoat remains white to effectively
reflect the sun’s heat, unlike dark-colored roofs that
retain heat and are subject to ultraviolet degradation.
Roof temperatures can be reduced in excess of 50°F.
Exceeds ENERGY STAR® & Cool Roof Rating
Council Guidelines.
4. Lightweight:
A ROOF MATE roof is lighter than conventional
and single-ply systems, putting less stress on the
framework of the building. No glue, fasteners or
heavy ballasting is required.
5. Permanent Flexibility:
ROOF MATE contains no migratory plasticizers,
which may give good initial elasticity but leach out
of the coating upon extended exterior exposure.
ROOF MATE remains permanently flexible
through the use of high grade elastomer acrylic
polymers.
6. Colorfast:
The acrylic resins utilized in ROOF MATE
crosslink under exterior exposure to lock in color
and lock out dirt. The topcoat color remains true
through years of weathering, while the tight,
crosslinked surface effectively repels dirt.
7. Low Maintenance Costs:
With a ROOF MATE roof there is no asphalt to
degrade, metal to corrode or seams to come apart.
It is formulated to remain flexible to
-30°F without cracking under stress, and is impervious to minor ponding water associated with most
roofs. When maintenance is required, repairs are
easily accomplished using acrylic caulk and/or
additional ROOF MATE.
11. Resistance To Foot Traffic:
ROOF MATE’S tough finish, combined with its
flexibility and bond strength characteristics, allows it to
easily withstand the stresses of normal roof maintenance traffic.
12. Code Approvals:
ROOF MATE is UL classified as a Class “A” Fluid
Applied Coating System, and as a Class A, B or C
Maintenance & Repair System as outlined in the UL
Roofing Materials & Systems Directory and UL website.
It is Factory Mutual Approved for recover over FMRCrated BUR or insulated metal panels.
13. Warranty Programs:
ROOF MATE is backed by 5, 10 and 15 year, nonprorated warranty programs. These guarantee to the
Building Owner that the coating system will not leak as
result of degradation from normal weathering. All warranty programs are extendable to last for the life of the
structure.
Our products are guaranteed to meet established quality control standards. Information contained in our technical data is based on laboratory and field testing, but is subject to change
without prior notice. No guarantees of accuracy are given or implied, nor does UNITED assume any responsibility for coverage, performance or injuries resulting from storage, handling
or use of our products. Liability, if any, is limited to product replacement or, if applicable, to the terms stated within the executed project warranty.

A. ACTUAL SQUARE FOOTAGE OF METAL SURFACE AREA:
Match the jobsite roof panel to the sample cross sections below to determine the multiplication
factor needed to determine the actual surface area. To calculate the proper amount of coating to
achieve the required film thickness, the panel configuration must always be taken into consideration.
1.2
MULTIPLICATION FACTOR
1.3
2. Light Sound Rust (Flash Rust) — Divide the actual surface area by 200. This is the amount
of Acrylex 400 required.
3. Spot Priming (Light Rust) — Estimate the total area affected by rust and divide by 200.
This is the amount of Acrylex 400 required.
*If a water-based primer is required over medium to heavy sound rust, estimate two coats
of Acrylex 400 at the rate of 300 sq. ft. gallon (7.3 m²/l) per coat.
Estimating Guide For Metal Roofs
1. Medium to Heavy Sound Rust — Divide the actual surface area by 300. This is the number
of gallons of Lock-Down required.*

B. PRIMER REQUIREMENTS:
UNITED COATINGS
October 2006
(Supercedes June 2004)
Estimating Guide For Metal Roofs
C. FASTENERS:
All fasteners must be encapsulated with ROOF MATE Butter Grade, or sealed utilizing UniCaps.
1. Estimate 1,300 square feet (121 m²) per 2 gallon (7.6 liter) pail, or 3,250 square feet (302 m²)
per 5 gallon (19 liter) pail, of ROOF MATE Butter Grade.
2. Estimate 1 roll of Uni-Caps per 1,475 fasteners.
D. HORIZONTAL (END-LAP) SEAMS:
All horizontal, or end-lap, seams must be reinforced with either ROOF MATE Butter Grade,
Uni-Tape Adhesive-Backed Polyester Fabric (4" or 6"/10 or 15 cm), or ROOF MATE Fabric
(4" or 6"/10 or 15 cm) embedded into a strip-coat of ROOF MATE. Determine lineal feet of horizontal seams by multiplying the building length by the multiplication factor of the panel, then
multiplying the total by the number of horizontal seams.
1. Estimate 200 lineal feet (61 m) per 2 gallon (7.6 liter) pail, or 500 lineal feet (152 m) per 5
gallon (19 liter) pail, of ROOF MATE Butter Grade, applied approximately 60 mils (1,524
microns) thick and 3" (7.5 cm) wide, applied in 2 separate coats.
2. Estimate 1 roll of Uni-Tape per 50 lineal feet (15 m) of seam.
3. Estimate 1 roll of ROOF MATE Fabric and 3 gallons (11 liters) of ROOF MATE per 300
lineal feet (91 m) of seam.
E. VERTICAL (SIDE-LAP) SEAMS:
Vertical, or side-lap, seams that have been factory crimped and caulked do not require reinforcement unless they have been damaged. Vertical seams that are simply overlapped must be reinforced with ROOF MATE Butter Grade. Determine lineal feet of vertical seams by dividing the
building length by the panel width, then multiplying by the vertical length from ridge cap to roof
edge for each side of the roof to be coated. Estimate 75 lineal feet (6 m/l) per gallon of ROOF
MATE Butter Grade to achieve a thickness of approximately 60 mils (1,524 microns), applied
in 2 separate coats. Vertical seams can also be sealed using 2" (5 cm) Uni-Tape or 2" (5 cm)
ROOF MATE Mesh embedded into a strip-coat of ROOF MATE.
F. PENETRATIONS:
Determine the lineal feet around all protrusions by measuring the circumference of all vents,
pipes, roof-top equipment, etc.
1. Estimate 100 lineal feet (35 m) per 2 gallon (7.6 liter) pail, or 250 lineal feet (87 m) per 5 gallon (19 liter) pail, of ROOF MATE Butter Grade, applied at 60 mils (1,524 microns) thick
and 6" (15 cm) wide.
2. Estimate 1 roll of 6" or 12" (15 or 30 cm) ROOF MATE Fabric and 6 gallons (23 liters) of
ROOF MATE per 300 lineal feet (91 m) of protrusions.
G. OTHER DETAILS:
Take into consideration other details on each specific roof, which may require additional reinforcement or other attention.
1. Gaps at the ridge cap or at the overlap of dissimilar metal panels should be filled utilizing a
portable urethane spray foam or open-cell polyurethane backer rod. Estimate the approximate
cubic feet of space that requires treatment and order the appropriate portable foam kit or opencell polyurethane backer rod. Order backer rod slightly larger than the gap to be filled so that
it compresses firmly into place.
2. Where the metal roof panels abut a dissimilar surface, the interface must be sealed with ROOF
MATE Butter Grade or ROOF MATE Caulk at the rate of approximately 100 lineal feet (35
m) per 2 gallon (7.6 liter) pail, or 250 lineal feet (76 m) per 5 gallon (19 liter) pail. The interface
shall then be reinforced by embedding 12" (30 cm) ROOF MATE Fabric into a strip-coat of
ROOF MATE. Estimate 1 roll of fabric and 6 gallons (23 liters) of ROOF MATE per 300 lineal
feet (91 m) of joint.

STEP 5: Coat over the entire detailed area with ROOF MATE
basecoat and topcoat as it is applied to the balance of the
roof, per project specifications. Refer to appropriate Master
Guide Specifications for complete application instructions.
STEP 4: Unfold the circular piece of fabric and center it
over the drain. Apply additional ROOF MATE Butter Grade
around the perimeter of the drain if it is not still wet enough
to absorb into the fabric. Cut the fabric into flanges extending
outward from the center of the hole to the edge of the bowl.
Use the brush to smooth the fabric flanges down into the
bowl, working out any air pockets or wrinkles. Apply additional
butter grade to completely encapsulate the ROOF MATE
Fabric, extending it 1” to 2” (2.5 to 5 cm) beyond the edge
of the fabric around the perimeter of the drain on the roof surface.
STEP 3: Cut a second, circular piece of ROOF MATE
Fabric just large enough to cover the drain and fabric
flanges of the first piece of fabric. Fold the fabric in half
and then in half again to find the center. Use scissors to
cut off enough of the point to create a hole in the exact
center of the fabric that is not more than ½ the diameter
of the drain bowl.
STEP 2: While the butter grade is still wet, cut a strip of
ROOF MATE Fabric long enough to line the interior
diameter of the drain bowl with a 1” to 2” (2.5 to 5 cm)
overlap. The fabric should be wide enough to fit approximately
half way to the bottom of the bowl while also extending
3” to 4” (7.5 to 10 cm) above the bowl rim. Cut the fabric
extending above the bowl rim into flanges, flattening them
into the wet butter grade with the brush in a pattern extending
away from the bowl. Apply additional ROOF MATE Butter
Grade to completely encapsulate the fabric.
STEP 1: Using a 3” to 4” (7.5 to 10 cm) paintbrush, liberally
apply a coat of ROOF MATE Butter Grade to the entire drain
bowl. Extend the butter grade approximately 6” (15 cm) beyond
the bowl rim and onto the roof surface in all directions.
NOTE: It is important to work quickly during this entire
detail process. DO NOT allow the butter grade to dry
between coats or the fabric will not be properly encapsulated.

How Much Coating Is Required?
The amount of coating required, and the number of coats, is determined by the duration of the
warranty that is specified. It also varies with the specific substrate being coated. Over concrete
for example, a minimum total of 25 dry mils (635 microns), applied in a minimum of 2 coats,
is required for a 5-year warranty. For a 10-year warranty, an additional coat must be applied at
the rate of 1 gallon per 100 sq. ft. (.4 l/m²). Over metal surfaces, a minimum total of 15 dry
mils (381 microns), applied in a minimum of 2 coats is required. To increase this to 10-years,
an additional ½ gallon per 100 sq. ft. (.2 l/m²) is required.
UNITED COATINGS
November 2008
(Supercedes March 2007)
Common Questions and Answers
Are The Warranties Extendable?
Yes, all of our warranties are extendable in either 5-year or 10-year increments, depending
upon the thickness of the recoat. At the end of the initial warranty period, the Owner will need
to arrange for a roof inspection with the Manufacturer's Representative. At this time, any warranted and/or non-warranted damage to the roof is repaired. The overall condition of the roof
will also be assessed at this time to determine how much coating is required for the desired
warranty extension. A minimum of 1.5 gallons per 100 sq. ft. (.6 l/m²) is required for a 5year extension and 2.5 gallons per 100 sq. ft. (1.0 l/m²) for a 10-year extension.
How Long Will The Coating System Last?
Unfortunately, there is not a black and white answer to this question, since the ultimate coating
life is dependent upon many factors. Initial thickness applied, service temperature, UV level,
wind, abrasion, foot traffic exposure, rain, ponding water, etc. all have some affect on the life
of the coating system. An acrylic system such as ROOF MATE will typically wear at a very
low rate of approximately .5 mil (12 microns) per year.

Technical Bulletin #1
What Is The Typical Recoat Procedure?
The roof coating system is very easy to recoat. After inspecting the roof and making any necessary repairs, it is thoroughly cleaned using water, in conjunction with a biodegradable cleaning agent such as United Cleaning Concentrate (UCC). It is then high-pressure rinsed using
clean water. After allowing the existing coating to dry, either one or two coats of additional
topcoat material are applied, using either airless spray or roller, at a predetermined rate to meet
the warranty extension requirements.
7 ROOF MATE SYSTEM
How Do I Know When It Is Time To Recoat?
After many years of protection, the base coat will eventually begin to show through the topcoat. This is why it is recommended that the base coat be a different color than the top coat.
Typically light gray and white are used respectively, although the top coat can be tinted to a
wide range of standard and custom colors.
Is Full Fabric Reinforcement Necessary On All Roofs?
No, the use of full fabric is only necessary on roofs that exhibit a large amount of cracks, splits,
seams, joints, etc. If there are a limited number of these symptoms, then they can be individually
reinforced using Roof Mate Mesh, Uni-Tape or Roof Mate Butter Grade – depending on the
type of roof substrate and the specific detail. Concrete roofs that do not exhibit any moving
cracks, single-ply roofs with sound seams, and built-up or modified bitumen roofs that do not
have splits between plys do not require full fabric reinforcement. However, it can always be
specified should additional reinforcement be desired. Otherwise, only the protrusions, vertical/horizontal interfaces and transition areas need to be individually reinforced.
What Type Of Reinforcement Should Be Used?
We recommend the use of stitchbonded polyester fabric for most applications, since it is very
strong yet has excellent pliability and elongation properties. There are 3 basic types of detail
reinforcement. The first method is to embedding stitchbonded polyester fabric, such as Roof
Mate Mesh, into the wet base coat. (Butter Grade can also be used for embedding this fabric).
The second type, which is applicable on metal, single-ply and smooth concrete substrates, is an
adhesive-backed reinforcement, such as Uni-Tape. This material incorporates a semi-cured butyl
rubber on the back that develops tenacious adhesion to the substrate. The third type of reinforcement, which is applicable to metal, single-ply, concrete and some asphaltic substrates depending
on their condition, is a high viscosity, liquid-applied reinforcement material such as Roof Mate
Butter Grade. If necessary, fabric reinforcement can also be embedded into these products.
How Much Abrasion Will The Coating Withstand?
The acrylic coating system will withstand any normal weather conditions, as well as any foot
traffic required for maintenance, cleaning, etc. In high wear areas, such as footpaths, roofing
granules can be broadcast into the final topcoat to provide additional wear resistance. A non-skid
acrylic/epoxy wear coat, such as Rhino Top, can also be applied over the roof membrane in high
use areas or sections of the roof that are regularly used as walking decks or recreational areas.
Breathable walk pads, such as “yellow spaghetti”, can also be used in high use walkways.
Should increased physical properties be required, Roof Mate HT can be utilized. It exhibits
approximately twice the tensile strength, tear strength and elongation values as typical advanced
acrylic coatings. Under rare conditions of extreme physical use or particular chemical resistance
requirements, other types of roof coating elastomers are available, such as urethanes or silicones.
Does The System Withstand Ponding Water Conditions?
It is always good roofing practice to incorporate slope-to-drain to allow for positive drainage
from the roof. This eliminates the build-up of dirt and debris, and prevents algae and plant
growth. While ROOF MATE can easily withstand the minor ponding water encountered on typical roofs, all surfaces should be free from excessive ponding water. A roof surface that allows
standing water 48 hours after a rainfall does not exhibit adequate drainage, and appropriate corrective action should be taken to rectify the situation prior to coating.

San Francisco’s “Muni” Bus Garage
The Flynn Center, occupying an entire block South of
downtown San Francisco, provides maintenance and
repair for the city’s enormous municipal bus fleet.
The original corrugated metal roof of the Flynn Center,
previously coated with polyurethane foam was in need
of repair. It was determined that the foam roofing was,
for the most part, in good condition, however the
protective elastomeric coating required a recoat.
ROOF MATE HT, a high tensile strength, liquid-applied
acrylic from UNITED COATINGS provided the desired
performance properties. ROOF MATE HT is ENERGY
STAR® and Cool Roof Rating Council (CRRC) certified,
meets State of California title 24 requirements, and
qualifies for LEED points from the U.S. Green Building
Council (USGBC).
Made with 100% acrylic polymers, ROOF MATE is
designed to extend the life of virtually any new or
existing roof substrate. The system is 100%
sustainable and eliminates costly tear-off of the
existing roof substrate.
Back to Index
The original foam roof required minor repairs
followed by a total recoat of the existing
elastomeric membrane.
Before the coating was applied, the roof was
thoroughly cleaned and any blisters and
delaminations were repaired. In addition,
gutters and downspouts were replaced. As a
precaution, the ROOF MATE system was
extended into the gutters for additional
waterproofing protection.
• ROOF MATE exceeds California Title 24 requirements
• ROOF MATE qualifies for LEED points from the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC)

Texas Stadium Dallas, TX
The 600,000 square foot metal roof over Texas
Stadium in Dallas, Texas was made famous not only
by the open hole in the middle but by the football
team that plays on the field below. Built 30 years
ago, it has been previously painted and repaired
dozens of times, resulting in a patchwork quilt
appearance.
United Building Products proposed UNITED COATINGS' ROOF MATE, a sustainable, acrylic roof coating
system, to the Building Owner to rectify the
numerous problems on the aging roof. The system
is fully warranted against leaks and premature
degradation, and the bright white finish will help
keep fans cool by reflecting up to 85% of the sun's
radiant heat. Many of UNITED’S 750 million square
feet of roof coatings sold worldwide have been in
service over 20 years, in some of the harshest
conditions imaginable.

The metal roof was power-washed with UCC Cleaner
and treated with ACRYLEX 400, a high performance,
water-based primer that resists corrosion and bonds
tenaciously to the existing metal. ROOF MATE Butter
Grade was used to seal all fasteners and embed ROOF
MATE Mesh on all seams prior to the application of 2
coats of ROOF MATE Topcoat. The project required a
total of 13,000 gallons of material. ROOF MATE is UL,
FM and ICC tested and listed, as well as ENERGY STAR®,
CRRC and Miami Dade County qualified. It has been
shown to lower roof temperatures 30 to 40 degrees F,
while providing long-term weatherproofing protection.

The Historic Flour Mill Spokane, WA
When the Spokane Flour Mill was built in 1890 it was
the most modern mill west of the Mississippi River.
Today it is the home of boutiques, designer shops,
galleries and restaurants. The Flour Mill is a cherished
Spokane landmark with a spectacular view overlooking
the majestic Spokane River.
The original 12,000 sq. ft. built-up roof was constructed
using multiple layers of felt paper adhered with hotmopped tar. The roof has been replaced and repaired
numerous times in its 126 years of service, with leaks
remaining a persistent problem. The old building is
also difficult to keep cool in the summer months, with
temperatures that frequently top 100° F.
When the summer of 2006 again found the roof in
need of repair, ROOF MATE, an elastomeric roof
coating from UNITED COATINGS, was chosen to
prevent further leaks and reduce the interior
temperatures. The process began with a prime coat
of Unibase, a low viscosity material that flows easily
into cracks and crevices to "solidify" and seal the
existing substrate.
Back to Index
ROOF MATE Basecoat was then applied to build up the
membrane thickness and provide long-term crack
bridging and durability. All components of the ROOF
MATE sustainable roofing system are advanced
acrylics and possess an optimum balance of physical
performance properties. These characteristics make
them less susceptible to thermal movement due to the
fact that the coating system will stretch and flex with
expansion and contraction within the roof.
The roof was topcoated with ROOF MATE Bright White,
which is formulated to provide long-term weather
resistance, while reflecting up to 85% of the sun's
harmful UV rays. Sustainable warranties are available
with the ROOF MATE system for 5, 10 and 15 year
periods. A ROOF MATE roof is designed to last

Port Royal Ocean Resort
Port Aransas, Texas
The Port Royal Ocean Resorts and Conference Center
at Port Aransas, Texas is a four-story building that hosts
thousands of annual visitors. The building features 210
condominium suites, in addition to more than 7,000
square feet of meeting and banquet space.
While the coastal location is scenic, sea breezes, saltwater and unrelenting sunshine can be detrimental to
the structure. The resort’s management team realized
this when the building’s 120,000 square-foot standing
seam metal roof began to rust and leak.
To find a long-term, and cost-effective solution to their
roofing problem, Manuel Chapa, Head of Engineering
at Port Royal, contacted Commercial Roofing LLC, an
Albuquerque, New Mexico-based roofing contractor
with a solid reputation and years of experience in the
commercial roofing industry.

After visiting the site and seeing the damaged rooftop
firsthand, Joe Johnson, Operations Manager for
Commercial Roofing, opted to re-coat the metal with
Roof Mate and Acryclad, two premium roof coatings
manufactured by UNITED COATINGS. Commercial
Roofing has been applying UNITED COATINGS’ products
for more than 10 years, and they are well versed in the
proper preparation and application techniques for the
manufacturer’s products.
“The coastal location of this building demands quality
materials across the board, but nowhere is that more
evident than on the roof,” commented Johnson.
“UNITED COATINGS’ Roof Mate offers protection
against water, sunlight and abrasion, the three biggest
factors in the degradation of this roof.”
Available in a number of standard colors, including four
that are certified to meet Cool Roof Rating Council (CRRC)
standards – white, tan, light tan and light gray – Roof
Mate is normally used as a finish coat to provide rooftops
with increased reflectivity resulting in reduced energy
costs. For this project, Johnson selected Roof Mate as
the base coat, which would later be covered by the greentinted Acryclad topcoat, also from UNITED COATINGS.
Before the coating process could begin, rusted areas
were repaired or replaced where necessary, and the
entire roof was cleaned with UCC (United Cleaning
Concentrate). Once the UCC was rinsed and the roof
was dry, Commercial Roofing began to apply the Roof
Mate Basecoat directly to the metal roof surface. The
coating was applied at a total thickness of 35 mils utilizing
hydraulic spray equipment that pumped directly from
55-gallon (208 liter) drums of Roof Mate. The six man
crew was able to apply more than 3,000 square feet
(279 m2) of coating per day.
Once the Roof Mate Basecoat had dried, the Acryclad
finish coat was applied. As with the basecoat, Acryclad
was sprayed onto the roof with hydraulic spray
equipment directly from 55-gallon (208 liter) drums.
Since Acryclad was used primarily for aesthetics, it was
applied it at a thickness of only four mils (102 microns),
which was enough to provide uniform, long-term color,
and add an appealing sheen and shimmer to the roof.
After the project was completed, a 15-year product
warranty was issued by UNITED COATINGS for the
entire coatings system.

Military Housing - Guam
Concrete roofs are very common in locations
such as Guam due to their ability to resist
typhoon-force winds and the related damage
they cause. While typhoons don’t occur every
day, heavy rains and intense sunlight are common.
Ever-present heat and moisture create an ideal
environment for mold and algae growth, which is
not only harmful to humans, but also unsightly
and damaging to most construction materials.
To combat this problem UNITED COATINGS
developed ROOF MATE AR, which is specifically
formulated for increased resistance to biological
growth in tropical environments.

The U.S. Military has tried numerous roofing systems
over the years on the two bases located on Guam,
including metal, built-up, modified bitumen and single-ply
membranes. The system that has consistently provided
superior performance on both Andersen Air Force
Base and Big Navy has been fluid-applied acrylic coatings such as ROOF MATE. Hundreds of thousands of
square feet have been coated over the past 10+
years with excellent results.
Energy consumption is also a major concern on isolated islands such as Guam, since electricity cannot be
generated by large hydroelectric dams or coal-fired
power plants the way it is on the mainland. Therefore,
conservation is vital. Due to the high reflectance value
of ROOF MATE, energy demands for electricity to
operate air conditioning are reduced, particularly
during peak loads. Reflective roof coatings have proven
themselves around the world as one of the most
effective means of reducing energy consumption.
ROOF MATE is manufactured using advanced acrylic
polymers, which are non-toxic and will not leach
harmful petroleum solvents into runoff water the way
that other traditional roofing materials will. This is
especially advantageous for the environment in areas
where the fragile ecosystem is threatened by pollution.
ROOF MATE incorporates all of the positive features
now being touted throughout the roofing industry.
Benefits such as reflectivity, maintainability and
sustainability. Local,
State
and
Federal
Government agencies have become increasingly
involved in supporting the benefits of "Cool
Construction" materials. ROOF MATE is ENERGY
STAR®, CRRC, UL, FM, and Dade County Florida
tested and certified.
