Mission Statement
Under the patronage of Mary, Mother of the
Redeemer, we are a growing faith community
centered in the Eucharist and dedicated to
worshiping God, our Father.
In response to our baptismal call, we commit
ourselves to promote the gospel of His Son, Jesus
Christ, through Christian hospitality, spiritual
nurturing, evangelical outreach, and shared social
experience.
We call upon each parishioner to share his or her
talents in addressing the needs of our parish and
society at large. We implore the Holy Spirit to
consecrate each of us in this mission.
Mary, Mother of the Redeemer, help us share in the work of redemption.

MMR Observes Patriot Day 2016 15th Anniversary of 9/11
Patriot Day is observed every September 11th to
mark the terrorist attacks on that date in 2011
against the United States. It is suggested that, along with our prayers, it
be a day of service. On the weekend of September 10th and 11th,
Mary, Mother of the Redeemer Parish will conduct a drive for the homeless men who are served daily by St. John’s Hospice in Philadelphia.
We will be collecting the following items in the narthex:
 New underwear (briefs and boxers)
 New short-sleeved t-shirts (large and x-large sizes are most
needed)
 Toiletries (smaller sizes) – soap, disposable razors, shaving
cream, deodorant, and shampoo
 Toothbrushes and toothpaste, and combs
Containers will be provided throughout the weekend. Also, monetary
donations placed in the poor boxes that weekend will be sent to St.
John’s Hospice. God bless you for your goodness to some of the most
vulnerable of our community!
There is an MMR Ministry That Needs You!
Come to the Ministry Fair that will be held in the Narthex
and patio area on September 18th from 8:00 am - 1:30 pm.
There will be representatives from various MMR ministries
available to meet with parishioners and discuss the many
opportunities to volunteer and serve our parish. Do you
have a knack for tidying up? Are you a good listener? Do you like to
drive? Are you an organizer? Do you have a green thumb? There is a
ministry that needs you. It may surprise you how it will deepen your relationship with Jesus and increase your faith, while helping our parish
grow! We need all of you to keep our parish vibrant and growing!
An Evening of Prayer for Addictions
A Holy Hour and Benediction
Come to pray for a loved one, for yourself, or
even for a stranger who is living in the grasp of
an addiction. Come together to support those in
recovery and to pray for those struggling with
addictions on Monday, September 19th, 7:30 pm at Mary, Mother of
the Redeemer Church. Fr. Douglas McKay will be the presider and
preacher.
Fr. McKay was ordained a priest in 1982 for the Archdiocese of
Philadelphia. For over 20 years, he served as the chaplain of Holy
Family Home, serving the elderly with the Little Sisters of the Poor.
He is the founder and spiritual director of Our House Ministries, Inc., in
the Grays Ferry section of Philadelphia. He also serves as chaplain of
the Calix Society, Philadelphia Unit, which proclaims the Catholic faith to
the Alcoholics Anonymous membership. In 2015, Father McKay was the
recipient of the St. Rita Peace Award in recognition of his long term
commitment helping the downtrodden overcome life-threatening
addictions to alcohol, drugs, depression and crime.

Theology of the Body for Middleschoolers
We are excited to announce a new program that will be held on Sundays from 6:00 to 7:30 pm in the Mary, Mother of the Redeemer Teen
Center. The program runs for eight weeks from October 9th through
December 11th (no sessions on November 20th and the 27th).
(N.B. Attendance and participation in this program would count towards
mandatory CYO faith formation.)
The program cost is $35 for the first teen and $60 for two teens
(siblings). Parents take the adult class for free when their teen registers for the program; the fee includes resources and peer support to
guide your teen. The adult sessions run simultaneously with the teen
sessions. Parents who do not have a teen registered are still able to
attend the parent class for the cost of the book.
The registration deadline is September 28th, and is limited to the
first 25 registrations with full payments.
Go to: http://www.mmredeemer.org/junior-high to register.
TOB Parent Information Night
A parent information session will be held on September 26th from
7:00 - 8:00 pm in the School library. No commitment is necessary.
High School Leadership Opportunity
MMR Youth Ministry is looking for five leaders to help at the “Theology
of the Body” sessions for Middleschoolers. Such participation looks
great on college and scholarship applications as well as the National
Honor Society. Interested teen leaders can register today at: http://

crazy. Some people hear voices or see visions; others find themselves attached to odd
objects. Come join us to talk about your experience at the MMR/St. Stan’s Bereavement Support Group on Thursday, September 8th. There will be a morning group at
MMR from 10-11:30am in the Parish Conference room. There will be an evening group
at St. Stanislaus from 7-8:30pm in the Parish center. No registration is necessary, just
come if you can. Our next two meetings are:

August is National Immunization Awareness
Month. According to the Center
for Disease Control “vaccines prevent more than 2.5 million deaths
each year, and have helped eradicate small pox and are close to
eradicating polio.” Make sure you
are up to date on all your vaccinations. School nurse educators and
pediatricians help guide parents
with vaccine schedules. However,
it is good for adults to be aware
of important vaccinations. The
CDC recommends that adults receive the influenza virus annually,
and TD vaccine (tetanus and diphtheria) every 10 years. It is also
recommended that adults over 60
receive the shingles vaccination
and those over 65 the pneumococcal vaccination. For more information visit www.cdc.gov/

The American Heart
Association reports
that nearly 380.000
out of hospital cardiac arrests occur annually, and 88 percent occur in the
home. Learning CPR can save the
life of your loved one. According
to the AMA, effective bystander
CPR can double or triple a person’s chance of survival. Failure to
act in a cardiac emergency can
lead to unnecessary deaths. The
American Heart Association trains
more than 12 million people in CPR
annually. For more information on
training sessions visit

adoration..." 1980 - "On The Mystery And Worship Of The Eucharist" Encyclical
Eucharistic Adoration on Fridays at MMR Parish will resume on Friday, September 9th.
Adoration will begin following the Prayer After Communion at the 7:30 am Mass (at the
