Pork Bu and Chicken Legs was started in 2010 with their
first compeon being in September of
that same year. This will be their 8th compeon. The team in this short me has
garnered a number of top 10 finishes in all
the different categories including a 1st place in pork and
has also finished in the top 10 overall mulple mes. The
team is comprised of Pork Bu, Chicken Legs, their wives
and their 5 children ranging in age from 9 years to 4
months old. Both Pork Bu and Chicken Legs bought their
1st smokers 4 years ago and have been cooking BBQ since,
connuously striving to learn and improve their BBQ.
The Rolling Bonez MA BBQ Team consists of Ben Chaco as
the chief cook along with his wife Tara Chaco, Len Simone,
Jason Cirillo, Sco Abrutyn, and Tyler Diabo. They reside in
Townsend, MA and it is their first year compeng. They
have done three contests previously: two as Sx N' Bonez
BBQ Team and one as The Rolling Bonez MA BBQ Team.
They took 1st place in the NEBS grilling contest at the 2011
Harvard Fall Fesval this year. Like most teams they started
cooking BBQ in the backyard about 6 years ago and decided that the compeon circuit would be a lot of fun and
provide a chance to take their BBQ to the next level.
The Roadtown Smokers consists of Ernie and Cheryl Tidlund of Shutesbury, MA. Did you know in 1735 Shutesbury
was called Roadtown, hence the name of their team! This
will be their first KCBS contest that they have competed in,
but they became interested in compeon bbq several
years ago and have judged a few contests. When the Riverside Blues and BBQ was announced, they decided to support the local event and give it their best shot.
Smoky Bro’s BBQ Aer many years of backyard cooking for
family and friends, Smoky Bro designed and
built his custom smoker in the summer of
2010, with the help of Holyoke metal shop
Steelhead Studios. Debung it at the Cummington Fair, it was an immediate hit and led to several
other autumn fesvals. In May, Smoky Bro's BBQ officially
opened as a roadside stand on the historic Mohawk Trail in
Shelburne, MA, serving up authenc smoked meats (using
local apple wood, oak, and maple) and delicious homemade sides. Run by Bro and his wife Sunshine (they met at
a barbecue) the stand is open through the end of October
but will be available for catering in the off-season before
reopening next Spring. This is their first official compeon. www.smokybrosbbq.com
Cider Boys BBQ is new to the compeon
circuit this year. Co-Pitmasters (or Pit-Journeymen at this point) Sco Snaith and
David Hammond have been friends since
they were Co-Captains of their High School Football Team
in Harord , VT. Sco now resides in Hollis Center, ME,
while Dave has stayed local in Wilder, VT. The team name
originates from the use of several different Cider products
in their BBQ process, and from the fact that Sco produces
an excellent Homemade Hard Cider. The Riverside Blues
and BBQ event will be the Cider Boys 3rd compeon and
they hope to improve all their scores from their last event.
