Auxiliary Air Chambers
Specifications
Auxiliary Air Chambers may be added to the top of any
Supreme Air Fume Hood in this catalog to convert them to
Auxiliary Air fume hoods. Adding the auxiliary air chamber
makes it possible for the fume hood to operate on up to
70% auxiliary air, thus saving expensive conditioned room
air from being exhausted. No modifications to the fume
hood are required, and the chamber comes complete with
all necessary parts to make the conversion, except fan
and duct work. The chambers are fabricated of cold rolled
steel. Finish is light neutral color.

Fume Hood Exhaust Systems
Determining Fume Hood Exhaust and Supply Requirements
All fume hoods, regardless of type or
use, require a fan/blower to exhaust
the air from the hood to outside
atmosphere. Typically mounted on the
building roof, the fan/blower also
requires a duct system to connect it to
the hood, and a stack head to exhaust
the contaminated air above the
building’s fresh air intakes.
In addition, if the fume hood uses an
auxiliary air chamber, a second
supply fan/blower is also required
along with a seperate duct system.
Your VWR Furniture Specialist can
provide more information and help
with the exhaust/supply system
design.
Because of the many factors involved
with designing a fume hood
exhaust/supply system, it is
recommended that you contact an
HVAC professional as well, who is
experienced with laboratory fume
hood exhaust requirements and is
knowledgeable of local mechanical
and electrical building codes.
