A visit with Art Monde from Sharon Richardson
Bill, Tina Pollard and myself met with Art on Sunday February 22 at 12:15
P.M. To my delightful surprise, Art was waiting for us in the hallway
and he looked wonderful!! WOW! Our visit lasted for three hours. I was
impressed at how sharp Art's mind is. Art did most of the talking,
especially about the past and never faltering on a name or place. I wish
I could do that. He is an amazing man and he so enjoyed our visit. He
said to tell all of you, "that he loves and misses you all very much and
that his wish is to make it to one of our events or perhaps a meeting."
If you wish to visit Art, his address is:

Horsing around
Paramount Ranch Ride
Despite a threat of rain and slippery trails, a record 38 riders participated in the 2015 ETI
Corral 22 ride at Paramount Ranch in Agoura Hills. The large grassy area near the Western
Town set provided ample room for the dozens of trailers and everyone was soon busy
registering and tacking up. There were all sorts of horses and several mules and even a very
unusual animal called a “ZULE”, ridden by Alison McSpadden.
Paul Jacques was trail boss who entertained everyone with his riding skills before the start of
the ride when his horse suffered a tack malfunction which left him bridleless as his trusty
mount trotted back to the trailer. Tiffany Bailey graciously offered to be Drag Rider to keep
everyone moving together and on the right trail.
We soon headed off through a beautiful green field under cloudy skies and dropped down a
steep, slippery trail through dense forest to a narrow valley, winding through beautiful large
rocks leading to the MASH set. Everyone had fun posing next to the ambulance and the
infamous signpost before turning back to a fire road heading towards Malibu State park, past
amazing views of craggy peaks and a beautiful lake.
Paul led us to a very important site (Porta Potties) before moving the whole herd up over a
big hill to a gorgeous, flat meadow with Oak trees and lots of knee deep grass for the horses
where we ate lunch. The Sun broke through the clouds just as we mounted back up for the
return ride, taking a shortcut over a mountain through some narrow, twisting trails under low
hanging branches before opening up to the rolling hills of Reagan Ranch and then another
mile back to our trailers. According to Pam Oldfield’s GPS, the ride was 11.6 miles.
Before we ended, the entire “Posse” rode into Paramount Ranch Western Movie Set, taking
pictures, laughing and trotting around, much to the amazement of the tourists visiting the site.
I’m sure they had quite a story to tell of the cowboys that galloped into town!
Many thanks to Paul Jacques and Tiffany Bailey for coordinating the ride and making it such
fun, and to the many hikers and mountain bikers we passed on the ride who were all very
friendly and happy to see such a large group of horses. And, of course, thanks to all the
WONDERFUL people who took the long drive out to ride with us!!

2015 Cheri Blue Memorial
Cheri Blue Memorial
The rain on Sunday, February 22nd cancelled the trail ride but did not dampen the enthusiasm of those who joined
together to honor the memory of Cheri Blue.
A delicious Brunch was set out at the Rose Bowl Riders clubhouse in Pasadena, along with wonderful pictures and
a special visit by 2 therapy dogs trained by Sherry Buchbinder, who was a great friend to Cheri. One of these
amazing dogs is an ambassador for Make a Wish Foundation and works with the USO to support our troops.
Everyone shared stories of many rides and campouts with Cheri, and the clubhouse rang with laughter as people
recalled her sense of humor and her many interesting songs. Good food and so many memories made for a
wonderful afternoon of fellowship in honor of a very special lady!
