In the news this month…
Blackstone Models is excited to announce the production of D&RGW K-28
and K-36 Class Locomotives projected in 2014. There will be more details to
follow in the coming weeks regarding part numbers, pricing, etc.
Blackstone has also announced that the new run of C-19 2-8-0’s and first
pieces of the HOn3 ProTraxx Snap-Track System are now shipping. I should
have the ProTraxx in stock next week.
Micro-Trains has announced an exciting new model, the SW1500.
The EMD SW1500 was General Motors upgrade of the successful SW1200
and provided its customers with a larger, more powerful switcher for their
yard services. Powered by the EMD 645 Diesel Electric engine, the SW1500
found a home on most major class 1 railroads and went on to work on short
lines and industrial customers. A total of 808 units were produced between
1967 and 1968 and operated on lines from Canada and Mexico.
The N scale model will come with separate handrails, bell and horns, window
inserts, operating headlight, body mounted Magne-Matic® couplers and fine
surface detail. Initial releases will be equipped with AAR style trucks and
decorated in the accurate prototypical paint schemes. Accepting Orders for
August Releases Beginning July 31st. Pricing and Pre-Order Window Coming

Kato has announced a new analog based sound system coming to the US
Market! The Analog Sound Box (working title) will be a self-contained analog
sound system (no DCC or decoder installations required) which will be plugand-play with Kato's Unitrack system. Using multiple "sound containers"
modelers will be able to select their preferred sound schemes and enjoy
loud, clear sounds coming from their control stands with a variety of toggleable sound features.

This sample is an extremely early prototype and some details and features

ESU has released v4.4.5 of the LokProgrammer software. Of particular
interest is an update to the Write Sound Data process that simplifies the two
step process I discussed in the last edition.
The new function is a one step process and insures the default CV values get
updated.
