CAREER SERVICES CENTER
2010-2011 Annual Report
OUR MISSION
The Hawai‘i Pacific University Career
Services Center assists students and alumni
by educating, engaging, and facilitating their
career development process so that they are
empowered to make personally authentic
career decisions.
WHAT WE DO
FOR STUDENTS
The goal of the Career Services Center is to provide the
services and resources to help students choose and
prepare for their careers, find employment, and learn the
skills necessary to transition from student to professional.
We offer a wide array of career-related services:
Choosing Career Paths
•Career Counseling
•Self-Assessment Tests (MBTI & Strong Interest Inventory)
Experiential Learning
•Internships
•Cooperative Education
•Job Shadowing
Job Search Skills
•Résumé and Cover Letter Assistance
•Mock Interviews
•HPU Connect Registration
•Job Search Resources & Information
“Working with the Career Services Center has been amazingly
helpful in paving my career path. I was lucky enough to not
only get in contact with a company for a job shadowing project
for my TIM 2010 class, but also to obtain both an internship
and part-time job with the company! Without the help from the
staff, I would have never known about this company or even
achieved this great job in my field.
The staff from the Career Services Center has really taught me
the correct steps in being professional and preparing myself for
future employers. They also gave me more confidence so that
when I did talk to my employer, I felt at ease and excited for my
interview. I am really impressed with how organized the office is
and how responsive and timely the staff is. They really are on
top of their game and they have every tool a student needs for
preparation!”
Michelle Tarantino,
BSBA Travel Industry Management

quality of student interns from HPU and we continue to recruit
from their campus.”

“Since my very first encounter with the Career Services Center,
the staff has been incredibly helpful and supportive. In my first
appointment they helped me fill out all the necessary paperwork
and walked me through the internship process. But their support
went beyond the straightforward administrative tasks. They called
the company to introduce me as a potential intern, they helped
me with perfecting my résumé and prepared me for my interview.
The Career Services Center at Hawai‘i Pacific University has
played an integral part in my career, and I highly recommend the
staff and their services. I could not have done it without them and
I am extremely grateful for their support and service.”
Joseph Kourieh
MBA, 2009

“I want to thank the Career Services staff for all they do for the
MSIS Program. The yearly Professional Development event
would not have been the same without your support. You really
captured the essence of job seeking for our students. Thank
you for the quality information about how to network and for the
valuable career advice.
The fact that you are in weekly contact with new job postings for
our students during fall and spring terms is much appreciated
as well as your kind thoughtful support of us! I really appreciate
all you do!”
