Welcome to Falling into Colors
(Skill-based, literature-linked lessons for teaching all about fall!)
file
The format of this book is easy to follow. After a brief introduction, the book has several sections
with corresponding literature, skills and activities appropriate for teaching pre-kindergarten through
second grade. Along with each book title, poem or story, detailed lessons are provided. Objectives,
materials needed and step-by-step instructions are included for each specific activity. Pictures and
patterns are provided in the appendix (pages 64-91) and are referred to in each corresponding lesson.
To maximize learning and enjoyment, we have found that a two-three week time span is best for
teaching this unit.
Enjoy the season of the Fall — the perfect time to bring in a harvest of skills!
Sincerely,
m

A little girl has a cherished blanket. One day she sees that her
father’s growing pumpkins are in need of protection from the frost.
One by one, each square from her blanket is cut off to provide the
warmth needed for the pumpkins to live.
The Biggest Pumpkin Ever
Clayton the house mouse was proud of his pumpkin. After much
watering, it grew and grew. Desmond the field mouse was proud of
his pumpkin, too. After much watering, it grew very large. Little did
they know that the pumpkin they were so proud of was the same one!
Harvest Hues
A LastingLessons pop-up book. (Provided in this unit.)
Please Note: As of the printing of this unit, all of the above titles were currently in print. If you have any trouble locating

Connection letters to communicate the
theme being studied, skills you will be
covering, any special activities and/or
