AIR CLEANER BACKPLATE UPDATE JULY 2005
Part # 2954J .. 99 has been superceded to 29543-99B EVOLUTION
Part # 29440-99 has been superceded to 29440-99C TWIN CAM
DISREGARD STEP 3 OF INSTRUCTIONS IF USING THESE NEW PART #’S.
(Both of the above factory kits are made of a new one-piece design, only modification tof the rear
mounting ear is necessary).
The original instructions are for the earlier part #’s which are now unavailable through the dealerships, but are available through V-TWIN.

With the numerous variations of air cleaner backplates available today, it is recommended that you
check your specific model for clearance of the cruise lever for any possible area of contact.

Return spring modification
Use existing return spring part #45. Bend U-shaped tang over 90 degrees so it loops
around roll pin after roll pin is installed.We recommend placing the tang in a vise and
carefully bending. **DO NOT USE PLIERS or anything sharp that would nick the tang.
