Greetings Fellow HOG Members,
I know you are probably getting tired of hearing that I still cannot ride; but it looks like I only have
about 3 week to go. It has been a long 2 months and I’m ready for it to end. The good news is I don’t
have pain in my shoulder when I wake up every morning. Isn’t modern medicine absolutely wonderful!
I would like to thank everybody that has gone on a Chapter ride in the last month or so for willingly
showing your local membership card. This helps us fulfill the Mother HOG requirement of knowing that
you are a paid up member in good standing and we have a signed enrollment form on you or that you are a
guest and we have a signed waiver form for this particular ride. Now for part two – we have just found
out that we also need to see your National Harley Owners Group card to verify that you are a member in
good standing with Mother HOG. Sorry we keep throwing these administrative housekeeping chores at
you but I promise you this should do it for now. So when you ride with the Chapter please have both
cards ready to show the Road Captain.
Charlie Braden has been our Safety Officer for just about a year now and he is turning the reins over to
Bob Parker. We all owe Charlie a “Thank You” for the work he has provided behind the scenes for his
input with the Road Captain training course to his teaching riding skills to our members following the
meetings. So when you see him around be sure to thank him for all he has done.
Ellen Minotty is back as the Activities Officer after having a one month sabbatical during which time Ed
Wrobel was in charge. Ed has since resigned his position and Ellen has agreed to be the Activities
Officer once again. So, Thank You Ellen for stepping up.
Our annual chapter picnic is just around the corner and it is being organized once again by Barbie (along
with Charlie’s help) and the Ladies of Harley. It will be held June 28th at Rotary Park, US 1 and Suntree
Blvd. More information will be coming from Barbie so mark the date on your calendar now.
The Florida State HOG Rally is being held at St. Augustine Beach this year and the on-line preregistration is open until September 7, 2009; the rally will be October 21-24. You can visit the web site
at www.flstatehogrally.com to check out all the events they have and get pre-registered. It should be a
very exciting rally with some really good rides to participate in. We are trying to get more people to
participate this year so start making plans now to attend.
Ride Safe and Ride Often,
Al Boileau, Director

Well, I hope that is without regret that I am back! When I explained that life happens in last month’s letter-guess what? Life
happened again. I would like to thank Ed for the time he put in and welcome his help anytime in the future.
April was a busy and fun month for riding. The weather has been super, sorry Al, how that truck running? Ha, ha. Al’s bike is now
up and running, but his body is not! The Traveling Wall had a total of 22 bikes to show for our club, a very good show if I say so.
The Woman’s Conference in Leesburg was a huge success according to the ladies of Harley from Space Coast. They all said they
had a great time. 7 of us traveling to Port Richey for a private class with Jerry“Motorman” Palladino. He is famous for his video
called “Ride like a Pro.” Because of our great road Capt. training that we’ve had, we were told that we were one of the best classes
he ever had! He may have been pulling out leg? but I don’t think so. We were very impressive if I say so myself. We have to give
a hand to Lucy Thomas, she is one hot lady on her deluxe, and she can out ride anyone on those turns. We had a blast, and visited
with 5 dealerships coming and going. It’s fun to see how other clubs present themselves in their dealerships stores. Got lots of
ideas for our club too.
st
May brings a full schedule with the International Female Ride Day kicking off on May 1 . Barbie of our Ladies of Harley will lead a
ride through out Brevard County that anyone can join in with just by calling her cell phone and finding out where they are! So if you
get off work at noon, call and go catch up! We have Traveling Hog this month, and we’d really like to see him go to Rolling Thunder
with Onnie and Brian, so everyone please join in so our chances of the winning ticket are greater. We have a Keynote ride for the
Zoo Run, a late Saturday night full moon ride, and the Blue Crab Festival in Palatka.
From now until October, which is the FL State HOG Rally, we are going to join in on the fun of getting the dealership stamps. They
require only 8 to register for a grand prize in St. Augustine, but check us out next month and see what our club is going to do with
this same idea. We will be incorporating our rides to hit dealerships for stamps also; oh yeah, there has to be food nearby too!
September is the Thunder on the Beach Rally in Panama City Beach. I have 5 rooms taken out of 8, and the prices got reduced
from my last letter. See the insert on the web page for the latest details for this trip.
Remember
Ride Safe – Ride Often but
Screw It – Let’s Ride!

More Leesburg
Safety First By Bob Parker, Safety Officer
Some of the key issues of safe riding are:
- One disadvantage motorcycles have compared to cars is that they’re less visible. Taking steps to increase your visibility is
an important step in managing your riding risk.
- Black has long been a popular fashion choice among Harley® riders, but sometimes dark colors can be hard to see. If
bright, highly visible clothing does not suit your taste, consider adding a few well-placed pieces of reflective tape to your gear,
especially at night. Harley-Davidson also offers apparel with reflective taping such as a conspicuity vest, rain gear, jackets, and caps.
- Make sure your turn signals are working properly – and use them. In addition, consider using hand signals in situations
where you want to make absolutely sure a driver knows your intentions.
- If you want to make sure the driver behind you knows what you’re up to, consider flashing your brake light as you
prepare to stop.
- Use your horn to help draw attention to yourself when necessary. But don't rely on it or overuse it.

Director: Al Boileau
Welcomed all
Motion made to accept Minutes as posted from last meeting
I have to tell you, I have PMS… Parked Motorcycle
Syndrome. But I should be back riding soon.
We had a really enjoyable 2 ½ hour ride through the back
areas of the Cape Canaveral on Saturday March 28th and
would like to try it again sometime in the future. We had 45
bikes and 56 people. We took a group picture in front of one
of the rockets, and plan on presenting an 8x10 colored
framed picture of it to Sonny Witt at the meeting in May. At
that time we will ask him if it is possible to do this ride again.
We also collected $450.00 to donate to the Air Force Aid
Society.
We have had a change in the board personal again. Ed
Wrobel has resigned as Activities Director, and Ellen is
stepping in again. Thank you Ed for your time.
Charlie Braden is stepping down as Safety Officer, and Bob
Parker is coming on board. Bob is golfing with his 89 year old
dad, so look forward to introducing him at the May meeting.
The National rally will be held June 20th, in Oklahoma City. If
you plan on going, let us know by May 15th so our club flag
can be represented.
February 14th we held a Road Captain training course. We
trained 16-17 people. This coming Thursday, April 16th at
5:30 we will have another road captain meeting in the Hog
room. We will not ride the range at this time.
We soon hope to have the Riders Reward Patch designed.
The e-mail blast is sent out before an event or ride to let you
know where to meet, departure time, etc… Be sure to show
up with a full tank of gas, and always check the hog line at
255-2803 about 30 minutes prior to note any changes.
