9,5 mil. travelers used to be cleared per year.
Before stopping the controls there used to be 14 border crossings at
the 60km length of the border

LEGAL BACKGROUND
Agreement between the Czech Republic and the Republic of Poland on cooperation
in combating crime, protection of public order and on cooperation in trans-border
regions
Arrangement between the Government of the Czech Republic and the Government
of the Republic of Poland on establishment and principals of activity of PCCC
Chotěbuz and Kudowa Słone.
Rules of procedures (Police Presidents, Chief Commander of the BG (PL) and Directors
of Customs Administrations)
EU legal acts regulating international police cooperation (Schengen Convention, Swedish Initiative)
• Agreement between the Government of the Czech Republic and the Government of the Republic of Poland on
re-admission of persons at common state borders. EU legal acts regulating transfer of person according to
„Dublin 2“
• Arrangement between the Police Presidium of the CZ and Main Headquarters Police PL and the Main
Headquarters of the Border Guard of PL on joint patrols

ESSENTIAL TASKS
Bilateral agreement
Cooperation in accordance with legal provisions in prevention and detection of
crime, in particular organized crime, as well as in protection of public order
and state borders
Exchange of information, cooperation, coordination of activities and evaluation
of security situation
• The number of examinations of criminal cases and those in the area of
searches after persons has been increasing
• Analysis and exchange of information – at a request and without a request
• Assistance by operations in cross-border regions – support, including language
support
• Analysis of cross-border criminality

MOST FREQUENT ACTIVITIES
• Exchange and analysis of information on matters relating to trans-border
regions. Coordination of cooperation between the CZ Police units and PL
law enforcement autohorities
• Obtaining information on illegal migration and foreigners´ residence,
information „expert role“ in the area of documents and foreigners´
residence
• Assistance by organizing and executing joint patrols and coordination role
by hot pursuit and readmission
• Ensuring contacts – organization of meetings and debates with partners
from abroad
• A number of other (informal) inquiries
• Translating service, EU projects, inquiries from foreigners passing the
former border crossing

detention)

• Consultation with responsible sections of RPD (Criminal unit – vehicles and
drugs, Economic crime unit)
• Preventive measures (mass and sporting events, migratory flows)
