THE PALACE ON THE GRAND CANAL
PISANI MORETTA
The palace, built at the end of the 15th century by the Pisani family, is based in one of the most
fascinating bits of the Canal Grande, between the Rialto Bridge and Ca’Foscari. Magnificent example
of late gothic architecture, it has been restored and modified until it assumed the current aspect in the
XVIII Century with the last main works. The magnificent grandeur of its façade is due to the Gothic
windows of the main floors. The rich Baroque inside decoration is attributed to the most known artists
of the XVIII Century as Gianbattista Tiepolo, Jacopo Guarana, Gaspare Diziani e Giuseppe Angeli.
Baroque is also the impressive double flight of stairs leading to the second floor; it was built in order to
replace the ancient Gothic stair outside. Thanks to the last decade works, the Palace Pisani has regained
its former splendour, the same splendour admired by important visitors among which the Tzar Paolo of
Russia, Giuseppina Buonaparte and Giuseppe II of Austria.

THE MOST FAMOUS MASQUERADE BALL
IL “BALLO TIEPOLO ”
The “Ballo Tiepolo” is the most famous of the Gala Dinners of the Venice Carnival
(“The most prestigious Ball of the Carnival of Venice” – BBC1, Mars 2005); with the
performances of more than forty different artists, it takes place following a precise
direction, as if it was a theatre performance where the refined Venetian culture is
reflected in an atmosphere of joy; it a singular event that has nothing to do with a
normal dinner with animation.
WELCOMING OF THE GUESTS
A RAIN OF CONFETTI
At the entrance 4 big carnival costumes and the masks of the “Commedia dell’Arte” with welcoming
performances, a rain of confetti and gold, silver and coloured strings shot by kabuki, to create an
atmosphere of joy that introduces the guests to the party, where they will find the unique Masks of
the Carnival of Venice.

THE MUSIC
VENICE: THE TRIUMPH OF BAROQUE
Ensemble of music composed by 11 elements in costume directed by the orchestra director M° Riccardo
Parravicini who will welcome the guests, will play during the Dinner and will accompany the master of
Dance in his Minuets at the end of the evening. Two opera singers dressed as the Sun and the Moon will
perform different arias and duets during the Gala. During the dinner the orchestra will split into quartets
to entertain the different halls of the palace.
ALLEGORIC PARADES and TRIUMPHS
The opening of the party will have a triumphal nature : the guests will be moved, with a theatre shot,
moved into the XVIII century Venice, always in an atmosphere of allegoric happiness : from the San
Marco Lion to the Doge to Venice itself. The parade, after the celebration of the Doge to Venice and
after the welcoming to the guests, leaves the main hall in a triumphal music and will pass through all the
other rooms before definitely leaving.
During the dinner other parades will an allegory composed by costumes inspired to the theme of sea
which will accompany the first fish based course. Another allegorical parade is inspired at the Four
Seasons by Vivaldi.

THE ARTISTS OF THE COMEDY OF ART: acrobats and illusionists (Arlecchino, Pantalone,
Capitan Spaventa, il Mattaccino) will perform close up.

MINUETS, RONDO’, BADINERIES and
WALZERS
THE MASTER OF DANCE, with 8 dancers, will teach the guests minuets and other group dances of the
18th century till the Viennese Waltzes.
MODERN BALL
On the ground floor a DJ will make the guests dance until night with the evergreens.
