MESSAGE
Filipinos celebrate most milestones with food
as an important component in every gathering, in
every reunion, and in every fiesta. Through our
food, visitors from other countries are able to get a
glimpse of the nation’s rich cultural heritage with
our dishes sourced and prepared in a multitude of
ways depending on the region one is in. This is the
same spirit behind Flavors of the Philippines, a
month-long festival of Filipino food to be held all
over the country this April 2015.
The Department of Tourism (DOT) takes pride in hosting the first Philippine
culinary festival as appendage to Madrid Fusión Manila, the much anticipated
Asian debut of the most important gastronomic event in the 21st century, from 24
– 26 April 2015 at the SMX Convention Center in Pasay City.
The Philippines is indeed a center of culinary excellence in Asia, and we are
confident that the opportunity to host these celebrations would pave the way to
another golden era of our cuisine. On behalf of the DOT, I invite all of you to
savor the best of Filipino food through this wide array of events and activities.
With the best Philippine dishes being offered in different parts of the country,
there is indeed something that will cater to distinct palates and unique tastes of
each individual.
Thank you, and Mabuhay!
RAMON R. JIMENEZ, JR.
Secretary
