The McLean County Museum of History
contains permanent and rotating
exhibits that explore the history of
Central Illinois. The Museum traces its
roots back to 1892, the year the McLean
County Historical Society was founded.
Today, the McLean County Museum of
History features several exhibit galleries,
over 18,000 objects in its collections,
a library of nearly 10,000 volumes
and over 1,500 linear feet of archives.
The museum also offers many handson activities for children, educational
programs and annual events including
the Evergreen Cemetery Discovery
Walk and Christmas at the Courthouse.

This elegant, 36 room estate of Judge
David Davis was completed in 1872 and
is a model of mid-Victorian style and
taste with Italianate and Second Empire
architectural features. Davis, friend and
mentor to Abraham Lincoln, served as
a United States Supreme Court Justice
and was a key contributor during
Lincoln’s bid for the 1860 Presidential
nomination. His Bloomington home,
which remained in the Davis family for
three succeeding generations, provided
a focal point for the social, cultural and
political life of the community. The
estate offers tours for both groups
and individuals. A self-guided exhibit,
“Prologue to Presidency”, chronicles
Lincoln’s and Davis’s journey from
circuit riding lawyers to President and
Supreme Court Justice. Sarah’s Garden,
a restored 1872 cutting garden, is open
upon request.

Country Youth Classic
The mission of the COUNTRY Youth Classic
is to provide a competitive, professionallyconducted youth golf tournament, and to
generate tourism to the Bloomington-Normal
area. Since 2002, the CYC has strived to provide a
positive, competitive environment for junior golfers,
ages 3 through 22, from across the country to
around the world. The tournament includes 8
divisions for boys and girls and 3 special needs
divisions, with awards presented to the top ten
golfers in each division. In 2013, the COUNTRY
Youth Classic won the “Outstanding Locally
Sports & Play
Created Event” award from the National Association
of Sports Commissions. A 20 member committee
with the assistance of 5 public golf courses
continue to make the CYC a successful

The Constitution Trail is a joint venture
between the City of Bloomington and
the Town of Normal, and is one of
Central Illinois’ most unique attractions.
Approximately 37 miles of trail exist
within both communities for walking,
hiking, jogging, biking and cross country
skiing. Trash receptacles, picnic tables,
water fountains, shelters, portable toilets
and benches are available at various
locations along the trail. The trail is
open daily from one hour before sunrise
to one hour after sunset, and all forms of
motorized vehicles are prohibited. The
White House Millennium Council has
designated the Constitution Trail as a
Millennium Trail.

fiscally sound and environmentally

renovated Fairview Family Aquatic

Founded in 1857, Illinois State University
is the state’s first public university,
and is one of the Midwest’s oldest
institutions of higher education. It is a
co-educational, residential university
with an emphasis on the undergraduate

School coordinates 39 master’s
programs in addition to two specialist

The 350-acre campus includes more
than 60 major buildings with stateof-the-art technology. Watterson
Towers is one of the area’s most unique
structures, as this residence hall is the
tallest building between Chicago and
St. Louis. Other major facilities include
a Center for the Performing Arts, a
360-acre farm, Bone Student Center
and Braden Auditorium, a University

Illinois Wesleyan University, founded in
1850, is a highly selective, residential
liberal arts university with an enrollment
of approximately 2,000 students. The
University consists of the College
of Liberal Arts, with 17 academic
departments including the business
division with accounting, business,
international business and financial
services; the College of Fine Arts
includes professional Schools of Art,
Music and Theatre and the School of
Nursing. The beautiful 80-acre campus

multimodal transportation center
creating a centralized hub for the
community’s rail, bus, automobile, and
pedestrian facilities. The station’s upper
floors house the Town of Normal’s
City Hall and Council Chambers,
and the first floor contains access
to the transportation providers and
Bloomington-Normal’s first Subway
Café. Parking in the Uptown Station
deck is free for the first hour, free
after 6:00pm and free on Sundays.
Parking is $1 per hour at all other
times. The Uptown Station deck also
