Soup Nutsy Increased Speed of Service and Sales
by 10% During Peak Periods
Soup Nutsy specializes in gourmet soups for the lunch and
the take-home markets. Every day, the Soup Nutsy Soup
Market offers 12 or more varieties of hot and cold gourmet soups, each selected from a list of over 200 carefully
developed recipes. Soup Nutsy sets out to make the best
tasting soups with fresh, quality ingredients. They are
served up with an attitude made famous by an episode of
the Seinfeld television sitcom called the "Soup Nazi."
The company initially started with one store in the TD
Centre in downtown Toronto. Before expanding to additional locations, the management recognized that they
would require a computer-based point-of-sale (POS) solution rather than a cash register. They also wanted to
create a multi-store loyalty program with frequent
purchaser points.
Challenge: 70% of business performed
during 60 minutes of the day
Enlisting the help of their long term vendor, POS Canada,
Soup Nutsy chose PAR EverServ® PixelPoint® POS
software.
Soup Nutsy is primarily a lunch-focused business with 70%
of its business performed during 60 minutes of the day.
Speed of service and cashier transaction time are the top
priorities to ensure a maximum number of customers can
be served within the busy 60 minute window. Before
implementing PAR’s EverServ software, Soup Nutsy
employees had manual entries, complicated keyboards,
slow receipt printing, separate entries for credit card and
debit transactions, frequent printer paper replenishing,
and slow processing of daily readings and reports. These
processes inhibited the ability for Soup Nutsy to efficiently
serve its customers during its prime 60 minute window.
Along with speed of service, Soup Nutsy looked to POS
Canada for a POS system to enable enhancement of their
business model including training, customer loyalty
programs, adapting to a multiple payment terminal setup
and understanding and leveraging the power of the back
office reporting.
Solution: PAR EverServ® PixelPoint®
Soup Nutsy chose PAR PixelPoint POS software. EverServ
PixelPoint software is a fully integrated, scalable restaurant
point of sale software, back-office and enterprise system.
PixelPoint allows Soup Nutsy to keep labor costs in check
and increase employee performance by effectively managing time and attendance information. It also allows them
to ensure orders are accurately and efficiently entered and
sent to the kitchen. In addition, with the Crystal Reports
based ReportViewer they can schedule and email over a
hundred pre-existing reports from PixelPoint.
POS Canada customized all the functions and the screen
layouts according to Soup Nutsy’s requirements. They
also managed the installation and staging of the system,
training and ongoing maintenance support.
The
programming and training provided by POS Canada
made the deployment easy and accelerated user adoption.

PAR EverServ PixelPoint helped Soup Nutsy increase the
number of customers by more than 10% during the
crucial 60 minute lunch window with increased speed of
service and faster payment processing. The new solution
also increased order accuracy, improved management
productivity and provided new tools to enhance
customer loyalty.
