TL (tips)
* StoppTid – Radio Nord 1 år 1962 – TN/RFK
* Preliminär inbjudan till konvent 23-24 april 2016 – BE/HM/GL

Christoph säger: Today are some fine signals
around 0530/06 UT. A new one for me: "Radio Zion 14-80 AM portadora de buenas
nuevas“ from Dumfries Triangle - Virginia with big signal for a 500 watt station!
Hope you also find this in your recording on 1480? Enclosed a longer clip with great
IDs.
Dios. Gloria a Dios!
som körs från denna station som heter We Act Radio: We Act Radio is a media
corporation that combines broadcast and new media to deliver our shows in the
formats people use most. You can follow our shows by streaming them at
WeActRadio.com, listening on AM and FM radio stations around the country,
downloading them via podcast or on iTunes, or subscribing to our YouTube channel.
Our home studio broadcasts from the heart of historic Anacostia in Washington, DC

20.12.2015:

fortfarande saknar KFBX i pärmen, således. Man vet ju aldrig hur länge svarsviljan varar, hi!

inget annat emellan.
WRTH 2016
EDXC 2016 i Manchester, UK
preliminära besökare BE och HM, kanske någon mer?
(Stefan Wikander)

Ofcom receive 27 applications for South/South East England …………….18 November, 2015
Ofcom has received 27 applications from community radio groups wanting to operate a station in the South/
South East, outside the M25. They had originally invited applications as follows:
“Ofcom is inviting applications for services operating on FM and AM throughout this region – we are not
excluding any areas from the applications process on the basis of frequency availability as we have done in
the past for other areas. We offer some guidance on availability of suitable frequencies in different parts of
the south east, explain the importance of the transmission site information given in the application, and set
out how we will assess spectrum availability on receipt of applications.”
None of the details published show whether applications have been made for the AM or FM band.
Some areas have more than one application, such as Andover, Brighton and Southampton. Amongst the
proposals are Wey Valley Radio, Gaydio Brighton, BFBS Brize Norton and Angel Radio.
Ofcom usually announces the winners within 12 months.

BBC World Service Receives £85m to Enhance Services ………………….23 November, 2015
The government is to invest £85 million a year in enhancing BBC services around the world including in
Russia, North Korea, the Middle East and Africa.
The money is to help "build the global reach of the World Service" to half a billion people and "increase
access to news and information". Director general Tony Hall said he "warmly welcomed" the
announcement.
The government will provide £34m between 2016-17 and £85m a year from 2017-18 for digital, TV and
radio. The next review of this funding will be in 2020.
"This new funding is the single biggest increase in the World Service budget ever committed by any
government," said Lord Hall. "The millions announced today will help the BBC deliver on our commitment
to uphold global democracy through accurate, impartial and independent news reporting. "The World
Service is one of the UK's most important cultural exports and one of our best sources of global influence.
We can now further build on that."
He added: "The funding will also help speed us on to our target of reaching half a billion people globally."
The BBC currently reaches 308 million people worldwide, and its goal is to reach 500 million people by
2022.
Announcing the new funding in its document the National Security Strategy and Strategic Defence and
Security Review, the government said: "The BBC World Service reaches into some of the most remote
places in the world, providing a link to the UK for individuals and societies who would otherwise not have
this opportunity. (BBC News)
Commercial Radio News
Government to review Commercial radio regulation ……………………...15 November, 2015
Ed Vaizey has proposed to review a number of key regulation areas for commercial radio. Commercial
radio body Radiocentre has welcomed the plans, which were communicated to CEO Siobhan Kenny this
week.
In the letter, the Minister highlights the first phase of this work that will be undertaken by Ofcom and
Government to consider the value of continuing with music formats and detailed localness requirements in
their current form.
This announcement comes as more digital radio stations arrive, which are not subject to the same range of
regulatory requirements as traditional radio services on FM or AM.
sid 16
Vaizey wants Ofcom to look at options for a simplified radio content regime that will work across analogue
and digital radio. He questions if there is a need/desire in the longer term to retain a regulatory distinction
between community radio and small-scale commercial radio if both types of service are going to be carried
on the same multiplexes.
Siobhan Kenny, CEO of Radiocentre says: “UK radio is a good shape with an unrivalled range of services
available for listeners. But it also faces an unprecedented challenge in the battle for listeners and
advertisers, particularly from online services that are largely unregulated.
“If commercial radio is to continue to support its fantastic mix of local stations and national brands, then it
is right to take a fresh look at the regulation. We look forward to working with Government and Ofcom to
try and help level the playing field so radio stations of all shapes and sizes have the flexibility they need in
a digital age
Following the completion of Ofcom’s work, DCMS will assess the options in detail ahead of a consultation,
which Ed Vaizey hopes to be in a position to publish in late-spring of 2016. (www.radiocentre.co.uk)
First football deal secured for talkSPORT 2 ……………………………….23 November, 2015
talkSPORT and talkSPORT 2 will broadcast live radio commentary on UEFA EURO 2016 and 2020
matches. The stations will broadcast all 51 matches live from the opening game on June 10 through to the
final on July 10, as it signs as an official radio station for the competitions in the UK.
Calum Macaulay, talkSPORT Managing Director, said: “UEFA EURO 2016 will be the first time that four
nations from the British Isles have been involved in a major tournament since 1958, so it’s a massive
opportunity for our commercial partners to engage with a mainly male audience next summer. Having
talkSPORT 2 up and running will allow us to broadcast the final group games across either station and give
listeners their choice of matches. Our coverage will include over 500 hours on location in France with the
best sports broadcasters in the business.
“As with our coverage for previous tournaments, we’ll be going wall to wall with our output, on air, on
line, digitally and in print. It is a major investment for us and to broadcast both the 2016 and 2020
tournaments signals our continued commitment to invest in live rights to grow audiences for our
commercial partners.”
talkSPORT 2 is due to launch in March 2016 and will be available on national DAB, online and through the
talkSPORT 2 app.(www.radiotoday.co.uk)

Community Radio 10 years old ……………………………………………..,27 November, 2015
Community radio, which offers thousands of volunteers the chance to get involved in broadcasting across
the UK, is now ten years old.
The last decade has seen the number of community radio stations increase from just a handful to more than
230 stations, each reflecting the local needs and interests of its audience.
Community radio is a not-for-profit sector, largely run by an army of 20,000 dedicated volunteers, who
collectively work for around 2.5 million hours1 every year to bring original programming and locally-made
content to listeners around the country.
sid 17
Stations usually broadcast to everyone in a geographical area, but around a third tailor their output to serve
a particular community– such as older people, or an ethnic or religious group.
Community radio stations typically cover a 5km radius, broadcasting on average 93 hours a week of
original output. Many reflect a diverse mix of cultures and interests in their region. Stations also work
within their community to offer a range of benefits such as training opportunities, work experience, local
news and information resources.
Susan Williams, Community Radio Manager at Ofcom, said: "Community Radio stations have deep-rooted
connections in their communities. Local people run these stations, producing content to inform and
entertain their local community and offering real benefits like radio training.
Ofcom launched the first phase of community radio licensing back in September 2004 and received 200
applications for the first licences. The first station to launch after this was The Eye in Melton Mowbray,
which was recently honoured for its long-standing contribution to its local community.
The Eye has doubled its workforce in 10 years, with all staff volunteering their time. Other stations
reaching their 10-year milestone in the coming weeks include Unity 101 in Southampton, Awaz FM in
Glasgow, Angel Radio in Havant, Cross Rhythms City Radio in Stoke on Trent, and GTFM in Pontypridd.
Community radio provides a voice for communities across the UK stretching from the Scilly Isles to the
north of Scotland. Ofcom remains committed to helping it grow into its second decade.
Earlier this year Ofcom began trialling a new technological approach which could provide a more
affordable way for smaller stations to broadcast on DAB digital radio, ensuring UK listeners could benefit
from hundreds more local and community radio stations in the future. (Ofcom web site)

BBC Radio 4 Extra UK’s biggest digital-only station ………………………..1 November 2015
The Station reports 12.6% rise as Radio 5 Live Sports Extra also posts record ratings.
Hancock’s Half Hour is one of the most popular shows on Radio 4 Extra, the BBC digital station reported a
12.6% rise in listeners in the third quarter of the year.
BBC Radio 4 Extra has passed 6 Music to become the biggest digital-only station in the UK.
The Radio 4 spin-off station reported a 12.6% rise in listeners to hit 2.2 million, surpassing 6 Music, which
also managed a record quarter, according to the latest official listening figures from Rajar.
“I am delighted that the programmes we’ve chosen are capturing the imagination of more and more
listeners – from comedy classics to the best and most exciting acts at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe and
imaginative new hits from around the world such as the TED Radio Hour,” said Gwyneth Williams,
controller of Radio 4 and Radio 4 Extra.
BBC 6 Music, the first digital-only station to pass the 2 million weekly listeners mark, reported a record
audience of 2.18 million, up 6.5% quarter-on-quarter.
Radio 5 Live’s digital spin-off, Sports Extra, also achieved a record, with listeners rising 6.3% to 1.7
million in part thanks to the Ashes series between England and Australia.
Radio 1 spin-off 1Xtra also surged by 19.9% to 1.15 million, the second highest audience the station has
reported.
Absolute Radio 80s retained its position as the biggest commercial digital-only station, despite losing 2% of
listeners quarter on quarter to 1.57 million. There was less cheer for Kiss spin-off Kisstory, which saw its
audience fall by 10.4% in the third quarter to 1.3 million.
A total of 41.9% of all radio listening is now via digital platforms, up from 37.8% in the same quarter in
2014, the lion’s share on digital audio broadcasting (DAB) radio.
The majority, albeit only just, is still on analogue AM or FM, accounting for 50.4% of listening. A further
7.7% of listening is “unspecified” by respondents to the Rajar survey.

LLE-4 Radio Northern Star – 1611 kHz
Your ref.:
Date: 14.12.15
Dear Bengt Ericson,
Thanks so much for your interesting reception report! This is highly appreciated! Congratulations on a fine catch!
This will verify your reception as correct of Radio Northern Star on December 13th, 2015, 2100z-.
You were listening to a transmitter test from LLE-4 Radio Northern Star over LKB LLE Bergen Broadcasting
Station, Erdal, Norway, on 1611 kHz, 186 metres in the MW band. Please take this letter as our QSL.
This site was formerly used by the NRK for National and Regional broadcasting over LKB on 890 Khz, and local
broadcasting over LLE, 1115 kHz. It now houses some refurbished vintage MW, SW and FM transmitters plus others
we hope to put on the air later.
The English and Norwegian announcements you heard were by two of our American announcers Howard and Susan,
and myself.
This is a licensed station and trial broadcast operation of our international broadcasting project which also has a web
station started in 2012 that may be found on www.northernstar.cc . We have simple studio facilities in Straume,
Norway.
The current license permits us to send out identifications and test tones. Next year our plan is to get a RSL (Restricted
Service License), but nevertheless full broadcasting license.
Our strategy is to promote our project on this “Top of the Dial” frequency and at a later stage take into use a lower
frequency already licensed to our site with higher power and better daytime coverage, although the skywave
capabilities of 1611 are wonderful!
We are looking for sponsors, and for franchisees to operate domestic versions of The Northern Star, such as in
Sweden, and on Norway’s new DAB+ muxes.
So far we have also been heard in the Shetland Islands, England, Denmark, Sweden, Finland, Germany, and Austria.
The listening record at this moment is held by Bjarne Mjelde in Kongsfjord, Norway, 1574 kms from our tx-QTH
Grensedalen 59, Erdal, in Askøy Municipality, Northwest of Bergen, the capital of Western Norway. (Coordinates:
60°26 56,728 N 5°12 59,206 E)
We are using an ex-Marine Skanti TRP-8250 HF 250 Watts remotely controlled transmitter, able to operate at @65
watts in AM mode and 250 watts USB through an inverted "V" tuned to this frequency. We may also use our
refurbished “Comrod” antenna on the site which currently is used on and tuned to 1314 kHz. We are also occasionally
heard on LLE-3 5895 kHz.
Other transmitters on site Foreningen Bergen Kringkaster(FBK):
LLE-3 5895 kHz 200 watts USB 50 watt AM, Yaesu FT-950-tx. Antenna: Inverted V.(Different from the 1611 antenna.)
LLE-2 1314 kHz 250 watts, usually 150 watts Western Electric (WE 451A-1) tx from the late 40s, brought back into life
after it closed as LLU for NRK Odda 1466 kHz over 36 years ago. Antenna: Comrod-antenna. Presently inactive due to
tx fault.
LLE-FM 103,8 mHz FM 100 watts, Itelco-tx. Antenna: Omnidirectional.
The frequency of 1611.0 is now a Norwegian broadcasting frequency as the spectrum was formerly used by LGQ/LGB
for its LGF transmissions from Bore and later Vigrestad. As you know, it was also used by Vatican Radio. We hope
unlicensed transmissions on this channel will move away, although we recognize the skills and talents of many such
operators, and wish them well. We are in favour of “The X-band” being used for small-scale legal broadcasting.
Stay tuned for more tests from LLE-4 1611 in the near future, these may also be in USB mode.

KTMT Medford OR – 580 kHz
Hello Jan, Yes, that was indeed us!!! It was a thrill and a big surprise to receive your wonderful message, so thank you for reaching out. Amazing that you could hear us all the way from Sweden without going online, which seems to be the common way of doing it in this day and age! I could certainly identify our station tag for KTMT‐AM by hearing your recording, despite the static. We have since altered our station branding slightly, so now we have 96.1 FM/580 AM ESPN Radio as part of the main station ID. That effort was completed in mid‐November. It sounds a lot better since the change, and there were a ton of old imaging files that we were able to remove from our system. As a matter of fact, the person you heard on the station ID is no longer working here!!! Consequently, that station ID is no longer airing. I don’t know how long you were able to tune in for, but our station features a mixture of American sports talk programming as well as special broadcasts of American football, basketball, baseball, and even soccer (which of course, is your football). In the fall we started doing games for St. Mary’s High School, a small private school in Medford of about several hundred students ages 11‐18. Medford is a town in Oregon just north of Ashland, and our “Radio Medford” headquarters are located in Medford as well. We only have Ashland in the station ID because that’s where our transmitters are located! Again, very nice to hear from you. All of us from Radio Medford and our station wish you and your family a wonderful Christmas in turn. Hope you are able to hear more of us in the future so that we can build a following in Sweden! At the very least, with all of the craziness in the American news going on right now, it’s nice to have the opportunity to reach out past our borders. Feel free to contact me anytime with any future comments you might have. Happy holidays from the United States. KHAC Tse Bonito NM – 880 kHz
Thanks so
much for sending us your report! That recording is in fact our
station and it is actually my voice that you are hearing. My name is Joe Cook. I am
the Station Manager at KHAC. The part of the Legal ID that was inaudible was “Tse
Bonito, Window Rock, Gallup”. We are located in Tse Bonito, New Mexico which
borders Window Rock, Arizona, the capital of the Navajo Nation. My wife, our 9
year old son and I moved out here from New Jersey this past March to serve as
missionaries with Western Indian Ministries in their Radio Department. Previously,
I spent many years working for Cruisin’ 92.1 WVLT, an Oldies station in Vineland,
New Jersey and prior to that I worked at 1360 WNJC in Washington Twp, NJ,
where I started out in radio back in May of 2006. I’m so glad that you were able to
tune in and get our signal! Must have been just the perfect conditions on that day! A
little background, KHAC went on the air in 1967 and has been serving the Navajo
Nation ever since! We also operate two other stations, KWIM 104.9 which is also
located in Tse Bonito, but licensed in Window Rock, and finally KTBA 760 AM in
Tuba City, Arizona. Tuba City is located about 2 ½ hours from here. Me and another
guy each drive there twice a month to broadcast live for a segment we call Tuesdays
in Tuba. There is also a live program on Saturday mornings, but otherwise that
station is a simulcast of KWIM. Once again, it was really great hearing from you
and I hope that you and your family have a very Merry Christmas or, as the Navajo
say, Ya’at’eeh Keshmish!
Take care,
Joe Cook

interesting Ionosphere that night.
This is to confirm your reception of KLAV, AM
1230.
KLAV was running 1 KW at that time into a nondirectional single stick tower over a poor ground system. We
just recently moved it onto one tower of a triplexed array with
KWWN (1100) that has a far better ground system so should do
much better

WLEC Sandusky OH – 1450 kHz
Hi Jan:
I am pleased to Verify your Reception of our WLEC 1450 based on your recording.
Our WLEC operates with 1000 Watts both Day and Night from a non-directional Antenna
located about one mile from the shore of Lake Erie at Sandusky, Ohio.
We use a BE AM1A transmitter into a 54 meter high tower.
WLEC began broadcasting in December 1947. We are owned by BAS Broadcasting which
operates 9 radio stations in north Ohio.
WLEC programs light Rock music called “Timeless” and many sporting events.
I have attached a Coverage Map and photos of the building we share with
WCPZ(FM) and WMJK(FM).
