ST. LEO THE GREAT FUNDRAISING GALA
M
embers of the Designer Show House committee recently hosted “A Wine & Cheese
Fete” to thank their past sponsors and friends and to cultivate new ones. It allowed
VNA supporters to take a sneak peek at Holly Hill before the house actually opens
on May 3rd. The Preview Gala will be held on Saturday, April 30th and will be chaired by
Allie Delaney (left) and Tracy Brown. The two co-chairs are joined by Freeholder Director
Lillian Burr y (center). Holly Hill will offer sweeping river views, 15 meticulously landscaped
gardens, a gift boutique, a luncheon café and over 35 top designer vignettes. Holly Hill is
located at 813 Navesink River Rd., Locust.
“Q
uest for the Sea” was the theme for the 2011 Fundraising Gala for St. Leo the
Great School in Lincroft. The event was held at Doolan’s in Spring Lake where
guests were greeted with a glass of champagne containing a precious stone. One
lucky guest received a glass with a real diamond, compliments of Neves Jewelers. In addition
to live and silent auctions, supporters purchased chances to win a beautiful Coach travel bag
filled with an undisclosed amount of cash! Over 230 people attended the event to benefit St.

RBRHS CELEBRATES BLACK HISTORY MONTH

I
n Celebration of Black History Month, RBR’s
choral students performed a beautiful choral
medley of Negro spirituals arranged by the prolific
20th century African American music arranger Moses
Hogan honoring Dr. Martin Luther King.
M
embers of the RFHRHS Varsity Hockey team
brightened the day for many sick children with a
recent visit to the K. Hovnanian Children’s Hospital
at the Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune, a
member of Meridian Health. The young men visited 30 hospitalized children, shared jokes and stories while handing out
RFH team photos, hockey caps, tee-shirts, fleeces, back
packs and other goodies. It was a memorable and fun-filled
afternoon for the sick children and for the hockey team as
well. RFH student athletes include co-captains Hudson
Corbett, Gar y Cali, Luke Wilson and Campbell Dickson
along with Chris Saporito, Joey Horner, Troy D’Amico,
Dominick Roncace, Henr y O’Hern, Chris Kelly and
Charlie Gravina (in no specific order). Pictured with the
team are Steve Littleson, president of the JSUMC and Jenn
Smith of the Riverview Hospital Foundation.
Writer, educator and local TV producer and host Gilda
Rogers (pictured) returned to RBR to speak in honor
of Black History Month. RBR creative writing teacher
and performing poet Gretna Wilkinson also captivated
the audience with her powerful narrations. Rogers
formerly served as the Director of RBR’s SOURCE,
a school-based youth services program.
FRIENDS OF THE MONMOUTH MUSEUM WILL PRESENT
“JEWELS OF SCANDAL AND DESIRE”

he Friends of the Monmouth
Museum will present a lecture and
luncheon at the Trump National
Golf Club, Colts Neck titled “Jewels of
Scandal and Desire” on Tuesday, June
14th from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. The lecture
will feature Curt DiCamillo, the Executive
Director of the National Trust for
Scotland Foundation, USA, and noted
architectural historian. The lecture will
focus on the tantalizing tales behind the
British aristocratic families, their houses
and their jewels. Pieces from Melania
Trump’s new costume jewelry collection
will be among the raffle items. For

CHILDREN OF MDCC CELEBRATE DR. SEUSS’S BIRTHDAY
T
he children of the Monmouth Day Care Center, Red
Bank recently celebrated Read Across America and Dr.
Seuss’s birthday with a party that included a visit by The
Cat in the Hat, fun costumes, reading, cake and more. The
children of the Blue Room are pictured here with The Cat in
the Hat (Kevin Clarkson) who visited every classroom.
The kids of the Orange Room with the Dr. Seuss birthday
cake. Many parents came in to read Dr. Seuss books with the
children. Of course they sang the Happy Birthday song!
The children of the Red Room (part of the Red Bank
Pre-School Expansion Program) dressed up as green eggs
and ham. Each room had different costumes that they made
at school which corresponded to a particular Dr. Seuss story.

R
anney parents, students, faculty and friends rocked the
runway during the annual RSPA Fashion Show which
was recently held at the Eagle Oaks Country Club,
Farmingdale. Approximately 300 people attended the event to
watch students and faculty from the Middle and Upper
Schools model today’s latest trends. Proceeds will benefit a
Parents’ Association Divisional Speaker Program and faculty
professional development programs. Fashions were modeled
from Lynne’s, Fresh Boutique, Nirvana, Brave New World,
Michael Duru, Stacy Gemma, Gold Leaf and Glow. Several
vendors held a trunk show and donated 20% of sales back to
Ranney. $20,000 was raised for the RSPA and Ranney families
enjoyed a fun night out! Here, Fashion Show co-chairs Tina
P flaster and Laura P flaster were all smiles after the show.
RSPA President Sue Grosso celebrated the success of the
evening with Dr. Lawrence Sykof f, Head of Ranney School.
Dr. Sykoff took to the runway to model outfits for Michael
Duru Clothiers.

serves as RBR’s V.P. to its
FEA. The organization has
hundreds of chapters
throughout the U.S. and
abroad. Chloe will be traveling
to Washington next month for
training and interviews and to
meet her congressmen and
hopefully the president. Chloe
is joined by fellow inductees

RED BANK ARMORY HOSTED “LET’S DANCE” SKATING SHOW
This young group of skaters were “sugarplum fairies” and are
members of the U.S. figure Skating Basic 1, 2 & 3 group. The
skaters in this group include Lila Greene, Vivienne Ogden,
Claire Spencer, Ellie Mitsch, Aver y Albanese and Maisie
Canavan.
T
he “Let’s Dance” skating show was presented by the
Navesink Country Club figure skaters and was held at
the Red Bank Armory Ice Complex under the
direction of Barbara DeLaney-Smith and Connie Heath. The
girls did a great job with each song and kept the audience
well entertained. Barbara DeLaney-Smith has been
teaching figure skating for 25 years at Navesink. Here, she is
partnered with Konstantin Kaplan, who is a three-time
Ukrainian and Israeli National Dance Champion, World
Competitor and former Olympic Ice Dance Judge. Barbara is
a U.S. Figure Skating Ice Dance Gold Medalist and PSA
Master Rated teaching professional. Congratulations to
Barbara for 25 years of excellence.
