Over the two days of this course the following orthopedic therapies
will be discussed via an evidence-based approach, the speakers will
also explain their personal views on these modalities and especially
how they use them as part of their daily clinical routine: IRAP, alcoholfacilitated ankyloses, PRP, stem cell therapy, bisphosphonates, Adequan
& Cartrophen, nutraceuticals, therapeutic shoeing, new ‘miracle’ OA
therapeutics like polyacrylamide hydrogel etc., intra- and extraarticular corticosteroid & hyaluronan, shock wave therapy,
therapeutic laser, mesotherapy, physical therapies, sports horse
surgeries – decision making & outcome etc.. The 7 hours of practical
and case-based sessions will allow attendees to further their practical
skills on equine specimens in small groups (2 attendees per specimen).
As part of the wetlabs alcohol-facilitated ankylosis of the distal tarsal
joints (incl. contrast arthrography) will be trained on equine specimens.
This 2-day practical course covers the most common causes of
orthopedic and respiratory poor performance in sports horses, how to
recognize them and to decide if they are clinically relevant. The topics
of management of horses with back/sacroiliac pain, how to devise
tailor-made rehabilitation programs for musculoskeletal conditions and
physiotherapy of the horse with upper front- and hindlimb problems
and back/sacroiliac conditions will be discussed. Indications and
usefulness of chiropractic therapy, acupuncture and pulse, lactate and
GPS tracking as training and rehabilitation tools will furthermore be
reviewed. The 7 hours of practical sessions will allow attendees to
further their practical skills on live horses and to discuss the above
topics with the specialists in small groups (3 - 5 attendees per
endoscope).

Most veterinarians graduate from veterinary school with minimal or no
training on how to run a veterinary practice and are left to acquire this
knowledge elsewhere. This course was specifically developed for equine
practitioners and practice managers wanting to make their practice more
profitable and deliver excellent medical care. The many topics will be
discussed via interactive lectures and case-based discussions – some of the
cornerstone lectures will be on starting a practice, pricing strategies, how
to increase the bottom line, equipment purchases, profit/loss-based
strategies, staffing/hiring, marketing, tax efficiencies, exit strategies etc.
This course was developed to provide vets with an equine and mixed
animal background with the theoretical knowledge and the practical
skills of ultrasound image acquisition and interpretation of the upper
front- and hindlimbs, the poll, neck, withers, back and pelvis. There

live horses during the 7 hours of practical sessions. Each attendee will

bicipital bursa, stifle joint region, poll & neck, withers & back,

Evidence-Based Farriery for Equine Practitioners
This 2-day practical course approaches the subject of farriery and therapeutic shoeing in a scientific
and as objective way as possible by reporting established facts and recent, cutting-edge findings from
scientifically sound clinical studies. The anatomy, physiology and biomechanics of the foot will be
covered, followed by lectures on trimming, shoeing, different shoe types and what effect they have on
the foot, how to examine the foot and how to deal with specific foot problems. The 7 hours of practical
sessions will give attendees plenty of opportunity to put theory into
practice on live horses and limb specimens in small groups (2 vets per
specimen) and to discuss all aspects of foot trimming, shoeing and

Ultrasound has become a crucially important diagnostic imaging
modality in equine orthopedics and a growing number of equine
orthopedic specialists have extended the use of ultrasonography
creatively to assist with injection techniques and to facilitate minimally
invasive surgery. This course has been developed for equine practitioners
to enhance their knowledge and practical skills of performing ultrasoundguided orthopedic injections and ultrasound-assisted surgical techniques.
Between both afternoons, 7 hours of practical sessions will provide the
opportunity to train the different injection techniques on whole horses
and equine specimens in small groups (2 – 4 vets per ultrasound machine).
