You have endless access to designer
fashions. Who are some of your favorite
designers to wear for events and out on
the town?
I love Zac Posen. Zac is a personal friend and
took a chance on me as a young journalist
and I try to return the favor whenever or
wherever I can. I also love wearing Kara Ross
jewelry and her clutches. Kara is all about
empowering other women and her pieces
show it. Finally, I also

Reese, DVF, Chanel and Stuart Weitzman.
What are your two signature lip and
perfume items found in your purse?
My signature scent is Hermes, which is a
men’s cologne. And my signature lipstick is
a pretty nude/beige color by Armani which
goes with everything. A woman has to have
bronzer – Ben Nye bronzer is currently in my
purse.
What 5 fashion and beauty items can you
not live without? 7
Liquid liner, black. Fake lashes, Ardell. Bliss
eyepads – they take out puffing in the eyes.

journalist, what is your best advice
to those women looking to create a
fruitful and rewarding career amidst a
competitive environment?
It’s definitely competitive, but here’s the
thing, we’re all unique. There’s only one you,
so do you. What is your strength? Go out
there and kill it. What is your weakness? Go
out there and learn how to do those things

John McCormick to create Café MOTO. MOTO

café in Brooklyn’s borough of Williamsburg.

a remarkably tiny space is massive in
appeal. With as much thoughtfulness in
the crafting of design as can be seen in
Phelps’ photographs, MOTO raises the bar
