Stories covering pre and post events of the 2011 United States-México Border Health
Commission (BHC) Annual Meeting were published/broadcast on various news media and
social media outlets on the Mexican side of the border, including international news
agencies such as Telemundo, as well as local and national newspapers.
Story angles varied from highlighting the mission, vision, and priorities of the USMBHC,
impact of disease and epidemics on border communities such as tuberculosis and obesity to
ethics in border health research, among others.
Overall, media coverage was positive and optimistic and highlighting the BHC’s significant
work and cooperative binational approach to address border health issues.
