Step 3. Holding the bottle close to the head, spray quick tease
15 instant finishing spray at the roots. As you move down
the head, hold the bottle farther away and spray all over, using it
as a finishing spray.
Step 2. Use a flat iron through the ends—as the iron leaves
each section, introduce a round brush to create soft bend.
Allow the hair to cool on the brush and release.
Step 1. Apply satinwear 02 prepping blow-dry lotion
to damp hair, then layer on thickening lotion 06 all-over
body builder. Blow-dry with a round brush.

Before you begin any chemical service...
· Precisely follow package instructions for haircolor, lightener and texture products
· Wear suitable gloves for all applications
· Perform necessary patch tests as outlined in the directions
· Utilize protective smocks or capes for you and your clients during the service
HOW TO PERFORM THE SKIN ALLERGY TEST
· Remove earrings. Behind the ear and using a cotton-bud apply
a little of the unmixed colorant product sufficient to cover an area
of 1 to 2 cm2 (e.g. the size of a small coin). Re-apply allowing it
to dry between applications. Carefully reseal the colorant container.

Background color is the portion of the color base that helps produce balanced,
natural looking results and gives the shade its foundation. Tone is the portion of
the base that gives a shade its unique character.

Always consider the tone of the hair that you are starting with. Use the color
wheel to counteract or enhance tones. To counteract tones, select a shade with
an opposite tonal value. Remember, opposites neutralize. To enhance tones,

1.Determine your client’s natural haircolor level using the Natural Level
Finder found in the Shades EQ Cream & Cover Plus swatch book.
Remember to consider percentage of gray, hair texture, condition,
and hair density.

Redken uses the term “Zones” to refer to specific areas of the hair strand. The hair
is divided into 3 Zones. Each Zone will accept color differently based on the condition

FOR A REFRESH:
While using permanent haircolor on regrowth (Zone 1), apply Shades EQ Cream
to mid-shaft and ends (Zones 2–3) as needed. Strand Test for proper deposit.

When to Use CLEAR:
Use Shades EQ Cream Clear for added shine or to lock in previous color. Mix with
other Shades EQ Cream shades for less color deposit.
For Advanced Blending or Covering Gray:
Follow Glaze steps 1-4. For advanced blending use Shades EQ Cream.
For optimal gray coverage use Shades EQ Cover Plus with 10 volume
Pro-oxide Cream Developer. For maximum gray coverage use Shades EQ
Cover Plus with 20 volume Pro-oxide Cream Developer.
FOR A GLAZE:
1.Start with dry hair. Divide into 4 sections.
Use Shades EQ Cover Plus Clear for added shine with a subtle brightening effect.
Mix with other Shades EQ Cover Plus shades for less color deposit.
For Brightening service:
Follow Glaze steps 1-4 using Shades EQ Cover Plus. Process as directed.
2.Apply Shades EQ Cream or Cover Plus to Zone 1, the new growth area,
taking ¼ inch partings.
HAIR COLOR APPLICATION BEST PRACTICES
3.Apply and fully saturate Zone 2, the mid-shaft and ends, taking ¼ inch
partings. Process as directed.
1. Pre-treat the hair with Redken PreArt and Hair Cleansing Cream.
Follow with Extreme CAT or Redken Chemistry as needed. Dry hair.
4.Rinse, shampoo and condition with Color Extend.
2. Apply color generously to Zone 1 (the scalp area) using fine ¼" diagonal partings.
3. Use the opposite diagonal to cross-check your application to ensure proper application.
FOR A Glaze RETOUCH:
Follow Glaze Steps 1 and 2. Bring through mid-shaft and ends (Zones 2–3)
for up to 20 minutes as needed.
4. Use a timer to ensure accurate timing. Do not over or under process.
