From the South:
As you travel from the south pick up the A483 in Llandrindod
Wells and stay on it until you get to the Cefn Lea entrance.
Cefn Lea is 20 miles north of Llandrindod Wells on the left
hand side.
Our local train station is Newtown in Powys, on the
Shrewsbury to Aberystwyth line. The station is
about 6 miles from Cefn Lea. There is a plentiful
supply of taxis at reasonable rates. Phone numbers
can be found on our website.

As you enter Newtown continue on the the A483
to the fourth set of traffic lights (Lidl Junction) and
turn left under the railway bridge towards Llandrindod Wells.
Stay on this road (A483) for exactly 5.5 miles and Cefn Lea is
on the right hand side (DO NOT turn off the A483 road until
you see the Cefn Lea sign).

Owned and run by the Morgan family,
the centre was started in 1978 with
a timber hut and four static caravans.

Today it is one of the largest
Christian Conference and Holiday
Centres in Europe.
The centre can cater for over 600 guests
in a variety of accommodation including
pinewood chalets, leisure homes, a bungalow
and tent & touring pitches. We are able to
offer outstanding value for money with
guests being either fully catered for in our
restaurant or choosing to self cater.

The ever-enlarging main complex currently comprises of a main hall that can hold over 600 people with full
A/V support available, 15 other conference rooms, 600 seater restaurant, 2 sports halls, indoor children's play
room, dolby surround sound cinema and other recreational areas.
Cefn Lea is set in over 300 acres of beautiful countryside providing ample opportunity for recreation including
mountain walks, forest trail, nature reserve, 3 tennis courts, pitch and putt, crazy golf, frisbee golf and
children's play areas.

USEFUL THINGS
To Know About The Park
Confectionery and Drinks Machines
Tea, coffee, cappuccino, soup, hot chocolate and snacks can be purchased
from the vending machines in the reception area. Change machines are also
located here.
Wi-Fi/Pay Phone
Wi-Fi and public pay phones are situated in the reception area. The phones do not accept incoming calls.
First Aid
The First Aid is situated at reception. Local doctors can be contacted at Newtown surgery which is open 6 days a
week, Tel: 01686 611611. A map and further information of closest A&E’s is available at reception.
Emergency Telephone
There is an emergency telephone located on reception.
Transport to Newtown
There is a plentiful supply of taxi operators ready to take you to and from Newtown. Also a bus route passes the
site entrance several times a day. Please see website or call at reception for up to date times and information.
Items for Hire
Televisions, travel cots and other items can be hired from the centre for a nominal charge. If you inform us of your
requirements prior to arrival the items will be ready for collection.
Shop
We have a shop on site that sells a small range of products such as basic groceries, confectionery, snack items,
drinks, toiletries, stationery, books, toys, cards, post cards, souvenirs and CD’s. Opening times are variable depending
on groups programmes.
Disability Facilities
The park is situated directly off the main road. As you drive into the tarmaced car park, disabled parking spaces are
on your left, within 3 metres of the entrance to the main complex.
The main entrance with electric doors takes guests directly into the spacious reception. All areas (except the
boardroom) can be accessed from the ground level. The dining rooms, conference rooms and other areas all have
wide or double doors and are all spacious. The disabled toilet and shower and baby changing room is situated off
the reception hall. A lift is also available providing access between the upper and lower floors.
Designated accommodation is modified for wheelchair access. Conference organisers should notify the office of any
special requirements for these to be accommodated.
Post
The Post is collected from reception at approx 10am each day except Sundays and Bank Holidays. Guests mail that
arrives will be placed on the reception desk.
Smoking Policy
The centre has a no smoking policy in the main complex and in all chalets, leisure homes and bungalows.
Media Suite
The media suite is available for conference groups to use and is ideal for either showing films or teaching DVDs.
Laundry
A laundry room is located in the main complex. Washing machines and dryers are available at reasonable prices. An
iron is also available from reception for your use.
Lost Property
All items found on site will be placed in lost property and kept for 14 days only. Minimum charge for returning lost
property is £5.00. Items not claimed will be given to charity.

INFORMATION
We want your stay at Cefn Lea Park to
be as pleasant as possible so please read
through the following information to
ensure your safety and assist us in the
smooth running of the site.
No pets allowed except guide dogs
No smoking in any building or accommodation.
Alcohol is not permitted in the main complex
or outside (only in your own accommodation).
Anyone found with drugs or excess alcohol
will be asked to leave the site.
Please observe the 10mph speed limit and
do not use the site for driving lessons.
Ensure children are supervised at all times.
The ponds in the nature reserve are not
safe for swimming in.
Tents/awnings should be at least 15ft
apart. We advise that awnings should be
taken down when not in use. Awnings
left up are at owner’s risk.
Please keep to land belonging to
Cefn Lea during walks, and ensure all
gates are closed behind you. Do not
walk along the main road.
All children under 18 are the responsibility
of parents, guardians, teachers or youth
leaders. Please do not use outdoor
play areas between dusk and dawn.
Please respect other guests and keep
noise to a minimum during the hours of
10:00pm and 8:00am.
Please keep roads clear at all times for
emergency vehicles. To avoid serious
accidents, vehicles should not be parked on
slopes.
No rollerblading, skateboarding or cycling
in any buildings or without lights after dark.
Please also take care during the daytime.

Leisure Activities
Cefn Lea is equally suited to young and old alike. Twenty
acres of grounds along with 300 acres of Hill land give
plenty of space for everyone to relax.
In a location of exceptional natural beauty you can enjoy
breathtaking views. If you prefer to take a break from the
daily grind then escape to the open spaces of the hills and
the forest trail. There are trails through which to wander
and take in the fresh air. If swimming is your passion,
Newtown has a heated indoor swimming pool.
At Cefn Lea Park, you set your own pace. If you just want
to relax or take it easy and just let the beautiful scenery
roll by - be our guest.

Please don’t forget to bring your own sports equipment with you!
Tennis - Three tarmac tennis courts are situated within the
grounds.
Pitch & Putt (Seasonal) - Our pitch and putt course is
located on the hill behind the tennis courts. Golf clubs are
available from the shop.
Crazy Golf (Seasonal) - Situated adjacent to the tennis
courts and an ideal game for young and old. Golf clubs available
from the shop.
Frisbee Golf - The 9-hole course is just below the tennis
courts. Why not give it a try.
Sports Halls
We currently have two sports halls that can be used for
football, badminton, basketball, volleyball, netball, hockey or as
required.
* Pool, Air Hockey, or Table Football - These are
located within the main complex and each game costs 50p.
Change machines are available in the reception area.
Table Tennis - Located in the main complex, please ask at
reception for location.

Children’s Play Areas - There are two areas that are
suitable for children. The first is situated outside, opposite the
main complex and the second is suitable for 3 - 11 year olds in
the main complex.
Nature Reserve - Our nature reserve is full of wild life and
has a large variety of trees and shrubs. An ideal place to take a
stroll and unwind. Please take care around the water and
supervise children at all times.
Forest Trail & Walks - Our forest trail walk is approx. 1
mile, and at a leisurely pace should take about 40 mins.
Our mountain walk is approx 2.4 miles and takes 1.5 to 2
hours. It takes you on a private track adjacent to the main road
through our farm to an ancient burial ground and eventually
takes you to the top of the mountain with fantastic views of the
Mid Wales countryside overlooking Cefn Lea Park.
Directions to the top of the mountain: - Traffic free route - go
to the site entrance and follow the blue arrows.
If you wish to go for a longer walk there are a number on the
Dolfor Moors, including the Kerry Ridgeway. Directions: - go to
Dolfor, turn sharp right and proceed for a few miles towards
Knighton.

School & Country Centre
The School and Country Centre at Cefn Lea Park has been developed over the past 30 years and now around 30 school
groups - over 3000 children, visit each year. The pinewood chalets, which can accommodate parties up to 350, are popular
together with two sports halls, dining room and a number of study rooms, working areas and classrooms. For additional
entertainment, the centre has a media suite which can be used to show films. This has proved a popular attraction among
school parties.

- All day at Elan Valley, organised by Elan Valley Lodge.
Went orienteering - used maps looking for clues.
Canoeing using 2/3 seater Canadian canoes. Archery
also. Excellent day, guidance and facilities. All children
and staff thoroughly enjoyed themselves 10 out of 10 so say the kids! (and staff).
Wed - a.m. pony trekking at “the Mill” - good day and all
children returned safely! Some children were initially
sceptical about their suitability/desire to ride but all
wore smiles broadly at the end. Really good value for
money - checked out many others. Hard to find but
eventually signposts led us. This afternoon Borth
Animalarium, excellent fun. Fantastic range of creatures
to see and really helpful patient staff. Very enjoyable,
easy to find and fascinating for adults and children.

- On outward journey from school visited Ludlow Castle.
- Red Ridge Outdoor Pursuits Centre at Cefn Coch. 60
children split into groups. Groups undertook Kayaking
(skill games), Go Karting, Zip wire, Bridge building, Rock
climbing on man made wall.
Wed - Activities based at Cefn Lea. One group visited woods,
drawing, written responses etc, then around wood
looking at woodland feature. The other group did
orienteering course set out around the site. Evening,
Red Ridge Centre provided archery at Cefn Lea.
Thur - Day at Borth. Morning at the Animalarium. Afternoon
rock pooling on shoreline close to Borth.
Fri
- Return to school calling in at Acton Scott Working Farm
Museum.
- Shrewsbury history trail en route.
- Centre for Alternative Technology. The centre’s
education department offers a range of literature for
teachers including a guide and pack for both Key Stage 2
and 3. Workshop exercises can be photocopied.
Wed - Based at Cefn Lea, walked up Glog Hill, pond dipping,
sports activities.
Thur - The Mill Pony Trekking Centre. Afternoon nature
reserve.

- Steam train, Llanfair to Welshpool, then home.

Accommodation Information
- Electric and Gas are included.
- Kitchens are equipped with basic cooking utensils,
cutlery, crockery, fridge, cooker, kettle, toaster and
microwave. A central freezer is located in the main
complex, please ask at reception for location. Washing
equipment is not included but can be purchased from
the shop.
- All accommodation is provided with duvets and
pillows but sheets, duvet covers and pillow cases are
not supplied. Sheets and pillow cases can be hired from
reception but duvet covers are not available for hire.
- Top bunks only suitable for children 7 years and
older. If children in upstairs bedrooms please
attach chain on windows.
- TV signal is not included but can be hired.
- Towels are not provided but can be hired from
reception. Shampoo and soap are not supplied
but can be purchased from the shop.
- Accommodation available from 5pm on day of
arrival. Please vacate by 10am on day of
departure (Sundays can vacate by 3pm)

Organising
Conference Rooms
Conference rooms are free of charge and are
allocated according to the size of your group.
All rooms (except board room) are accessible
from ground level for disabled visitors.
A basic PA System can be hired in all rooms.
Professional Sound, lighting and video
projection are available on site. Dry hire and
engineered (crew) available. Please contact
us to discuss specific requirements.
Projector screen and lecturns are provided in
all conference rooms free of charge.
Conference organisers have use of office
facilities, which include fax, e.mail/internet
access and photo copier.
a Conference
Conference and other special events are arranged under the
supervision of the Conference Planning Manager. Cefn Lea can
host small meetings for 10 people as easily as a large conference
of 500+. There are 16 conference areas available and our variety
of room sizes allows almost any configuration of seating. Our
spacious reception area acts as a focal and information point for
guests on arrival. The conference organiser’s suite is situated
opposite the main reception. Our large car park is freely available
to all guests.
Projection screens and lecturns are provided in all rooms which
can be equipped with professional audio-visual equipment and
conference aids.
Our pricing structure works on a per head basis, with options for
weekend, midweek, or day conferences. Conference rooms are
normally allocated a few days before your conference, depending
on final delegate numbers and other requirements. Your
conference room and use of the complex are all inclusive. The
only extra consideration is for use of any of our conference aids.
Approximately one month before your conference you will have
an opportunity to book any of our aids listed below. The
questionnaire asks for final delegate numbers and meal details. The
form should then be returned to us at least 10 days before your
arrival.
