successfully, after the 18-Hole
Golf Course renovation was completed.
The 2-day golf tournament with 130
participants was played over 36-hole
stroke play, with tee-off at 7.45 am.

had successfully spiced up the
Chinese New Year festivities of
55 children in Persatuan Kebajikan Sri
Eden. The Club visited Sri Eden Home
and successfully built a “Mini Edu
Library” – a storage facility to keep the
learning materials for the children with
diverse learning difficulties.

To brighten up the day of these children,
the management, staff and members of
BJGCR visited them with new learning
materials, mandarin oranges and
members’ contributions. The children
were excited to receive “angpao” as
well. It was a great and memorable day
for the Club and home.

Acrobatic Lion Dance (13 Feb 2016)

he appearance of the Acrobatic
Lion Dance and the God of
Prosperity mascot cheered up the
members of BJGCR. The members and
guests enjoyed the exciting acrobatic
stunts and generously applauded the
performance. The crowd received
sweets and mandarin oranges from the
God of Prosperity and “Lion”, which
made this event so memorable.

Robotics SpeedMaster Camp

Concentrating in building their robot for the Sumobot challenge
he Robotics SpeedMaster Camp
was successfully held at the
Redang Room and spiced up the
school holidays of the 20 participants.
The collaboration with World Robotics
allowed the participants to flourish
in a way that fosters technical and
interpersonal skills. In order to have a
great time and build amazing robots,
through their participation in the camp,
they were required to work in groups
to build innovative robots designed to
score the highest points in the Sumobots
challenge. The Sumobots challenge
made the participants’ pulse quicken,
as they were anxious about the results.
They shouted and cheered for their
robots, hoping to win the match. Each
participant also got to bring back their
self-made machine car as a memento
from the camp.

Friendly Badminton Match

A
group of 14 members plus
supporters and family members
from BJGCR enjoyed a friendly
badminton match with CW Badminton
Club on 15 Mar 2016. The members of
BJGCR won 7 – 0 in 5 matches of men’s
doubles and mixed doubles. It was
indeed a memorable day for BJGCR
members and CW Badminton Club.

ongratulations are in order!
We are proud to announce
that Bukit Jalil Golf & Country
Resort has been conferred the “Par
Golf People’s Choice Awards 2016”
award for the “Most Improved Golf
Course Malaysia – Top 3”.
BJGCR made history by obtaining
the “Par Golf People’s Choice
Awards 2016”. This is the first
achievement received by Bukit
Jalil Golf & Country Resort since
being established, in honour of the
completion of renovations of the
18-Hole Golf Course. The award
also recognises Bukit Jalil Golf &
Country Resort for its continuous
effort in developing the club.
Two other awards were garnered by
Ponderosa Golf & Country Resort
and Bukit Unggul Country Club.

Installation of 2 New Treadmills

o serve our valued club members
better, we took the initiative to
do a few refurbishments around
the club. As we do not want to limit the
facilities’ usage while we upgrade, all
refurbishing needs to be done stage by
stage. Earlier this year, we have installed
2 new treadmills in the gym, with new
interesting features. Come down to the
gym and give them a try.
Reopening of Swimming Pool: Phase 1
15 January 2016
A
fter 3 months of extensive
upgrading and refurbishment
process since October 2015,
finally our club members can again
enjoy their favourite swimming pool.
Renovations are made separate into
two parts, Phases 1 and 2, and after the
completion of Phase 1 on 15 January
2016, the pool has now reopened for
usage. On the other hand, Phase 2,
which revolves around the dry and wet
playgrounds, is said to be ready by the
end of April.

Jaguar Car Launch

he new Jaguars are here in
Malaysia. Offering three variants
such as the Jaguar XE Prestige
2.0, Jaguar XE R-Sport 2.0 and Jaguar
XE S 3.0, the official launch was held
here in Bukit Kiara Equestrian & Country
Resort on 28 Jan 2016. For more

20-21 February 2016

he KL Saracens Rugby Club
recently held Bintang Rugby’s 9th
annual junior rugby tournament
at Bukit Kiara Club’s Polo Field. The
tournament which sees more than 173
teams of schools from both Malaysia
and international, including Hong Kong,
Singapore, Brunei and Indonesia, battled
their hearts out over the weekend for
glory.
Being the largest junior rugby tournament
in South East Asia, the event was spiced
up by the special appearance of the New
Zealand Harlequins team. Supported by
Tourism Malaysia, the event was viewed
by more than two thousand spectators
on both days.

Lion Dance Performance
21 February 2016
O
n 21 Feb, we held our annual
Lion Dance Performance at
the Sports Complex of Bukit
Kiara Equestrian & Country Resort.
As it is the year of the monkey,
spectators were also entertained by
a special Monkey Drum performance,
followed by the Acrobatic Lion Dance.
Before the show ended, almost 100
members and friends who came to
the show were given free oranges
and ang pow.
Pretzel Making Class by Aunty Anne’s

Shopping Centre, a Pretzel
Making Class was organised
as a collaboration of Bukit Kiara
Equestrian & Country Resort and
Auntie Anne’s. The Pretzel Making
Class and Auntie Anne’s Pretzel Field
Trip was created to reach out to the
community and to provide them with
a better understanding of the process
of baking a pretzel.
More than 26 children from both Bukit
Kiara and Bukit Jalil Golf & Country
Resort participated in the class and
brought home their freshly ownbaked pretzels with certificates of a
job well done and good memories of
an enriching event.

Lion Dance Performance

celebration
is
complete
without the familiar beating
of the drums and gongs of the lion
dance. This year, the crowds showed
up in full force to cheer the lions on,
with members and guests of all ages
taking in the remarkable acrobatics of
the lion dance troupe. The audience
participated in the festivities by
“feeding” the lions with ang pow and
Mandarin oranges for a year of good
fortune ahead.
Members and guests gathered at the Club to usher in the
Year of the Monkey. The lion dance troupe entertained
everyone with a thrilling lion dance performance.
Chap Goh Mei Golf Classic

A
total of 128 members and
invitees participated in the
Chap Goh Mei Golf Classic
held recently. There were 4 holein-one prizes up for grab, namely
Callaway, Fourteen and Maruman
golf sets sponsored by Transview
Golf, TITONI watches and OMAN
Air Kuala Lumpur–Zurich flights for 2
persons on Economy Class. Golfers
were treated to a sumptuous buffet
lunch while the lion dance troupe
entertained with their acrobatic show.
Seen at the luncheon and prizepresentation were some golfers who
were giving away “ang pow” to the
lion for good luck.
Mr. Yoon Chael Je, with 11 handicap has won
the A Medal Champion title with the score of
41points. Handicap 11 scored 41points.

FOBISIA Golf
15 - 17 March 2016

rom as young as 10 years old right
up to 15 years, boys and girls with
handicaps from 0 to 30 from 5
countries namely Malaysia, Thailand,
China, Korea and India played in a
3-day golf tournament organised by
FOBISIA (the Federation of British
International Schools in Asia), hosted
by Kolej Tuanku Ja’afar, fondly called
KTJ, and in partnership with Staffield
Country Resort.

FOBISIA Golf was held for the second
time in Malaysia, with Day 1 (15 Mar)
as their practice round. The teams
comprised of KTJ (Kolej Tuanku
Ja’afar), BSKL (the British International
School Kuala Lumpur), GISKL (Garden
International School), KLASS (the
Alice Smith School), BSB (the British
School Beijing, Shunyi), NLCS (North
London Collegiate School, Jeju), BIS
(Bromsgrove International School),
SHB (Shrewsbury International School),
HISB (Harrow International School,
Bangkok), BISP (British International
School, Phuket), TSB (British School,
Kathmandu) and CON (Concordian

On day 2 (16 Mar), the day of the
tournament proper, the boys and girls
put forward their best performances.
With promising weather, the participants
came in with some scoring an
unbelievable 2-under. With a handicap
of 11, 13-year-old Samuel Doublard,
who has played golf since the age of 4,
emerged the Best Overall Gross.

YAM Tunku Laxamana Tunku Dato’ Seri
Utama Naqiuyuddin graced the closing
ceremony. Unfortunately, there were no
takers for the hole-in-one prize on either
day, which was a Fourteen TC606 Iron
set worth RM5,088 sponsored by
Transview Golf.

Practice Green Update
15 January 2016
T
he old practice green had not
been changed since 20 years of
the club being in operation. Over
the years, the green had also been
getting smaller in size and the grounds
had also been compacted due to the
daily course maintenance routine.
The
Management
has
planted
Bermuda Titfdwarf, from seedlings
that were originally harvested from
Staffield Country Resort early last year.
With more 400 sq. m. of the Bermuda
Titfdwarf planted in their nursery beside
GCM Maintenance workshop, the
Management started to change the turf
at the Practice Green on 10 Jan 2016.
The Practice Green has a size of more
than 200 sq. m. Currently, only half
of the green is planted with the new
Bermuda Titfdwarf.

ight after Chinese New Year, the
Management started removing
the old turf at Hole 14 to give
way for the new Bermuda Titfdwarf.
With a size of more than 500 sq.
m., the GCM staff took 45 days to
complete the whole new green. Now,
the Hole 14 green is open for play.

Tournament 2016

ecently, MSSD Batu Pahat
organised a golf tournament
for the juniors and seniors
categories at Bukit Banang Golf &
Country Club. A group of 24 juniors
comprising mostly female teenagers
enjoyed a round of golf on 2 Jan 2016.
Not to forget, the group of 28 seniors
enjoyed the well set up course. After
the game, a buffet lunch was served
at the club’s restaurant.

Batu Pahat recently
organised a sumptuous
dinner for their police
staff at Banang Jaya Restaurant, Bukit
Banang Golf & Country Club.
Themed “Malam Jasamu Dikenang”,
the dinner was attended by more than
400 staff with a special appearance
by performing artiste Syura to enliven
the evening event. The management
of BBGCC thank IPD Batu Pahat for
choosing the club restaurant for the
dinner.

t was the 7th Anniversary for the most
active group of golfers, Phoenix Golfers
Batu Pahat, with their anniversary
tournament held on the 6 Mar 2016 at
Bukit Banang Golf & Country Club. A
total of 56 members of the group and
also members of the club teed off at 12
noon with the Stableford mode of play.
A sumptuous dinner was held later at
INDAH Room with a prize presentation
and lucky draw sessions.
