2.1 Fuzhou Geographical Location
Fuzhou, is the capital of Fujian Province , located in the eastern coast of
Fujian Minjiang River , the city's total area of 12,154 square kilometers,
including the urban area of 1,786 square kilometers, it is the largest city in
Fujian Province.
Taiwan Province are set across the sea , west of Sanming , Nanping ,
Ningde City, north , south Putian , Quanzhou .
Fuzhou is located in the southeastern edge of the Eurasian continent ,
east of the Pacific Ocean , is a typical subtropical monsoon climate. Annual
sunshine average from 1700 to 1980 hours; average annual rainfall is
around 900 to 2100 mm ; average annual temperature of 16 ~ 20 Ԩ, the
coldest January-February average temperature 6 ~ 10 Ԩ, the hottest month
in July and August average temperature is around 24 ~ 29 Ԩ ( noon
temperatures above 36 Ԩ ) ; annual relative humidity of about 77 %. Fuzhou
dominant wind direction is north-easterly to southerly winds dominated the
summer . July to September is the typhoon season and Fuzhou experience
two typhoon annually.
Minjiang River cut through the Fuzhou. The city has three mountains
( Osan , in the mountains , Ping Shan ) a unique cite with a mountains in the
city, the city in the mountains. Banyan tree planted around nine hundred
years ago , banyan tree cover the entire city. In Chinese, the city is
sometimes referred to by the poetic nickname Rongcheng literally “The
Banyan City".

Fuzhou is the cultural, political , scientific research center of Fujian Province , with 2,000 years of history. For more than 1 century it
was the administrative center of Fujian for Southern and Northern Dynasties and also for Tran Dynasty.
 At the end of 2012 , the city's has a population of 7.28 million ( of which the urban resident population is 3,000,000 ) ; city's
household population 6.55 million ( 3.37 million men , women 3.18 million ) , of which the urban household population is around 1.92
million . Birth rate 11.3 ‰, mortality rate 4.9 ‰, and with a natural population growth rate of 6.4 ‰
 The City of Banyans is distinct from the mainstream inland cultures of central China, and in details vary from other areas of the
Chinese coast. They are famous for many products and arts. Bodiless lacquerware (脱胎漆器), paper umbrellas and horn combs (角梳)
are the "Three Treasures" of Fuzhou traditional arts. In addition, bodiless lacquerware, cork pictures (软木画) and Shoushan stone
sculptures (寿山石雕) are called "Three Super excellences" of Fuzhou. Fuzhou cuisine is one of the four traditional cooking styles of
Fujian cuisine, which in turn is one of the eight Chinese regional cuisines. Dishes are light but flavourful, with particular emphasis on
umami taste, known in Chinese cooking as "xiānwèi", as well as retaining the original flavour of the main ingredients instead of masking
them.
Fuzhou is China 's outstanding tourist city with more than 150 historical monuments , including the tomb of Lin Tse-hsu , Hualin
Temple , Uttar , Mawei shipping sites, Fuqing Mile Rock , Tanshishan cultural sites, luoyuan Chentai Yu Gong , Pingtan Hai Tan ,
Gushan , Qingyun , 18 heavy Creek national scenic Area .
Fuzhou is also named as “Fú guó” or literally the world of Buddhist，The city is also home to many Buddhist monasteries/Taoist
temples and Buddhist monks. There are 6 key temples and these are Yongquan Temple , This temple , Lin Yang Temple, Zang , Wan
Temple and Xuefeng Temple.
Besides Mandarin Chinese, The majority local residents of Fuzhou (Fuzhou people) also speak Fuzhou dialect, a language that is
considered to be the standard form of the Min Dong dialect.
