GROUND TRANSPORTATION

Social Night & YPP Panel: Sunday, October 20, 2013
ATA's Young Professionals Program (YPP) has organized two Congress events for all the delegates. The
first one, the Third Annual YPP Social Night, takes place on Saturday, October 19, giving all congress
delegates an opportunity to revel in African music, dancing and nightlife. Then, on Sunday, October 20,
YPP invites all congress delegates to hear from students participating in the YPP-organized panel.

The Ministry of Tourism and Leisure of Cameroon has organized two separate half-day, afternoon
excursions for delegates. The first will be held on Friday, October 18 and includes a visit to the Tole Tea
Factory, a visit to the Wildlife Center and the neighboring Botanical Gardens in Limbe. The second will
take place on Sunday, October 20 and includes a visit to the Bimbia Slave Port and a tree-planting
ceremony at the entrance of Buea University’s Medical School.

According to the African Development Bank (AfDB), Africa is the world’s youngest

invest in education and training to develop the potential of its youth, it can turn this
challenge into an opportunity, particularly when skills development goes hand in hand

the U.S., France and Mexico, as well as from Togo, Cameroon, and the Ivory Coast,

Ministry of Tourism and Leisure, Republic of Cameroon
Honorable Bello Bouba Maïgari has been Minister of State for
Tourism and Leisure for the Republic of Cameroon since
December 2011. Prior to serving in this position, he was
Minister of State for Transport in 2009, Minister of State for
Post and Telecommunications from 2004 to 2009, and Minister
of State for Industrial and Commercial Development from 1997
to 2004. He has also served as the National President of the
National Union for Democracy and Progress since 1992. He
served as Prime Minister from November 1982 to August 1983.

accountant with over 16 years’ experience in commercial, retail,
investment and international banking. He is also a Chevening
Scholar and winner of various university and workplace best
student/staff awards.
Prior to his current position, he was Keystone Bank’s (successor to
Bank PHB) General Manager and Divisional Director in charge of
Global Transaction Banking, covering all the products of the Bank,
international business, correspondent banking relationships, global
trade, bureau de change business and ebusiness. Before then, he
was the Divisional Head of International Banking and Head of Global
Strategic Alliances at United Bank for Africa Plc where he handled
similar responsibilities, including playing key roles in the expansion
of UBA franchise in many countries. He has also worked with FSB
Int. Bank Plc (now Fidelity), Continental Trust Bank Ltd (now part of
UBA) and Diamond Bank Plc.
He graduated from the Lancaster University, UK with Distinction in
MSc Finance. His also received his MBA in Banking & Finance and a
BSc in Accounting from the University of Nigeria (UNN). He is a

DR. GEORGES BWELLE, General Surgeon, Central Hospital,
Yaoundé, Cameroon; 2013 Top Ten CNN Hero
Dr. Georges Bwelle, a general surgeon at the central hospital
in Cameroon’s capital, assembles teams of medical volunteers,
buys medications, equipment, and surgical supplies for
weekend missions throughout the dry season. He plans out
the entire year with specially selected destinations where he
and his team set up a field clinic, operating room, and
pharmacy for the villagers and neighboring people. At these
clinics he provides free consultations, examinations,
medications, and operations if necessary.

Edward Bergman has served as Executive Director of Africa
Travel Association since June 2006. He co‐founded and serves
as President of the Board of MCW Global, an NGO devoted to
empowering youth to make positive change in their
communities with a special focus on Africa. He is also an
adjunct professor of tourism at New York University and in
social entrepreneurship at SUNY Stony Brook University. Eddie
is Co‐CEO of E&E Hospitality Group with two restaurants: E&E
Grill House (Times Square, NY) and Hill and Bay (Murray Hill,
NY). He serves on the Board of Directors of the Rubin Museum
of Art, Museum for African Art, Shared Interest and the
Synergos Institute. He also serves on the Advisory Boards of
the International Crisis Group, NYU Africa House, NYU SCPS
Center for Global Studies and NYU Gallatin School of
Individualized Studies. In 2009 Eddie was awarded the Ellis
Island Medal of Honor. He received his BA and MA from New

BOBBY BRYAN, Commercial Director, West and East Africa,

Originally from Texas, Bobby Bryan attended the American
University in Paris, France. He began with Air France after
university in 1986 and worked in several positions with Air
France KLM in New York, Washington, Chicago and Lagos,
Nigeria. He joined Delta in 2007, covering East, West and
Central Africa and is currently based in Lagos.

MACON DUNNAGAN, Kilimanjaro Guide with Zara Tours, USA
Macon Dunnagan’s adventuring career began in earnest in
January 1999, when he climbed Mount Kilimanjaro for the first
time. After more than a decade, he has gained considerable
expertise as an avid climber and tour guide. Currently, Macon
is featured as the expert guide for the ongoing ‘Polarmax
Ultimate Adventure Mt. Kilimanjaro’ sweepstakes, presented
by Polarmax in conjunction with Backpacker Magazine, Cotton
Inc. and Zara Tours. He leads group climbs, including “Rotary
End Polio Now” and “Ovarian Cancer Canada.” Additionally,
Macon is working on the sequel to Sons of Kilimanjaro, due in
late 2014. Macon has climbed Kilimanjaro 31 times.
KHALID ELACHI, Chief Operating Officer, MCW Global, USA
Khalid Elachi is currently the Chief Operating Officer of the New
York-based non-profit MCW Global. The organization’s mission
is to empower youth to be agents of change with a special
focus on Africa, where it has established five community
centers in Rwanda, Sierra Leone, Tanzania and Zambia. Khalid
has been a member of the MCW team since 2003, when he
participated in his first International Youth Leadership Retreat.
He also helped establish the MCW Alumni Ventures Fund and
MCW’s community center in Rwanda. Khalid majored in Middle
Eastern & Islamic Studies at the College of Arts and Science at
New York University.

Estherine Lisinge-Fotabong is the current Director of Programme
Implementation and Coordination Directorate of the NEPAD
Planning and Coordinating Agency (NPCA). She is also the
Environment & Tourism Adviser to the NEPAD Secretariat. Mrs.
Fotabong has a Masters degree in Law and a second Masters in
International Affairs, specializing in International Policy and Practice.
She held several positions including: Assistant Lecturer in Law at the
University of Soa, Yaoundé, Cameroon; Director of Policy and
Strategy; WWF Central African Regional Programme Office,
Biodiversity and NEPAD Programme Officer with UNEP-DGEF. Mrs.
Fotabong has co-authored several publications relating to
Environmental Law and Policy.

As a Managing Director of Ethiopian International Services,
Esayas Wolde Mariam Hailu heads and directs the
development and coordination of sales and operations of all
international flights and field offices of Ethiopian Airlines
Group. He joined the airline in 1991, and has served in
different senior management positions, including Manager
Revenue Management, Area Manager Greece & the Balkans,
Country Manager Nigeria, Director for Germany and Central
Europe and Vice President of Ethiopian Airlines Cargo. He has
an MBA from Open University in the UK, and a BSc in
Mathematics from Addis Ababa University.
DR. GAYNELLE HENDERSON-BAILEY, President, Henderson
Travel Services; ATA International Board of Directors, USA
Dr. Henderson-Bailey founded the Washington, D. C.-Silver
Spring, Maryland office of Henderson Travel Service in 1984,
originally as a branch of the Atlanta company that her parents,
Jake and Freddye Henderson, founded in 1955. Henderson
Travel Service is the first full-service, fully appointed African
American owned and operated travel agency in the U.S., and
the first travel agency to pioneer in African tourism, sending
the first group of American tourists to Ghana to celebrate its
independence in 1957. Dr. Henderson-Bailey diversified the
company in 1987 by developing the Management Consulting
Division (Henderson Associates), which quickly grew to include
numerous U.S. Federal Government contracts and several
African and Caribbean marketing, promotions and tourism
development consultancies. Henderson Travel has received
the coveted Rosenbluth Award from ASTA (American Society of
Travel Agents) and the Africa Trophy from both ASTA and the
Africa Travel Association (ATA).

AMINI KAJUNJU, President & CEO, The Africa-America Institute
(AAI), USA
Amini Kajunju is the President and CEO of the Africa-America
Institute (AAI). She is the first African to ever serve at the helm
of AAI. Kajunju leads in transforming the 60-year organization
into an innovative, vital hub of African talent, a convening
forum for leading thought leaders on issues related to Africa,
and a repository of extensive history on the continent. Kajunju
joined AAI from the New York-based Workshop in Business
Opportunities (WIBO) in 2012.
BEEJAYE KOKIL, Division Manager, Economic & Social
Statistics Division, African Development Bank (AfDB), Tunisia
Beejaye Kokil is the manager of the Economic & Social Statistics
Division at the Statistics Department under the Chief
Economist Complex at the African Development Bank. The
division is mainly responsible for developing, managing and
disseminating development data, as well as covering a wide
range of economic and social statistics on Africa and preparing
knowledge briefs and statistical publications. AfDB recently
launched the “Africa Information Highway” initiative to assist
African countries to improve their web dissemination of data
and facilitate public access with the installation of Country
Data Portals and Open Data systems. Mr. Kokil joined AfDB in
February 1993 as a statistician.
LOUIS KOUAKOU, Statistician, Economic & Social Statistics
Division, Africa Development Bank (AfDB), Tunisia
Louis Kouakou is a statistician in the Economic & Social
Statistics Division at the Statistics Department, under the Chief
Economist Complex of the African Development Bank. At the
AfDB, Mr. Kouakou is the task manager of the “Africa
Information Highway,” an initiative to help countries and
institutions to improve their Web dissemination and data
management. Data Portal, Open Data, MDG Data portal are
provided to countries through that initiative. Mr. Kouakou is
also responsible for the production and dissemination of
publications in the statistics department.

Angelle Kwemo, an internationally featured speaker on trade
and investment in Africa, has appeared in the last three
months in Beijing, Chicago, Paris, and Libreville, Gabon. As a
former staff member of the United States Congress, Ms.
Kwemo focused on international investment and trade. Ms.
Kwemo also provides strategy for achieving strong private
sector partnerships from around the world.

Michael Madison has held various posts within the ATA
Southern California Chapter (So-Cal) since joining in 1992 and
currently holds the position of Board President. He is President
of Arbor Travel Associates, a retail California travel agency,
providing both leisure and business travel planning for local
government, unified school district and the general public. He
was the 2006 recipient of ATA's Outstanding Service to the
Organization.
EDDIE MANDHRY, Associate Director, New York UniversityAfrica House, USA
Eddie Mandhry holds a BA in Political Science/African Studies
from Hampshire College, a MSc. in International Relations from
the London School of Economics, and a certificate in non-profit
management from Columbia Business School’s Social
Enterprise Program. He manages Africa House’s public
engagement programs that spotlight Africa-focused research
conducted by members of the NYU academic community. He
also manages seminars, conferences and symposiums featuring
local and international dignitaries, thought leaders and
practitioners. The flagship programs aim to promote critical
dialogue and debate on evolving trends linked to economic
development in Africa. Eddie also manages the operations of
the NYU Center for Technology and Economic Development’s
Entrepreneurship Lab. Eddie is a Kenyan national, fluent in
Kiswahili with basic proficiency in Amharic and French.

ELISEO NEUMAN, Director of Africa Institute, AJC, USA
Eliseo Neuman is the Director of AJC's Africa Institute. The
agency's most recent international initiative is dedicated to
conducting Africa-related advocacy, establishing partnerships
with African diasporas in the U.S. and facilitating technical
cooperation and development assistance from the U.S. and
Israel in Africa. Prior to joining the AJC, Mr. Neuman was an
investment banker with Goldman Sachs & Co., and a lawyer
with Davis Polk & Wardwell. Most recently, he served as an
advisor to the Chief Prosecutor of the International Criminal
Court in The Hague.
JOSEPH OKELO, Country Director, Global Travel and Tourism
Partnership, East Africa
Joseph Okelo is the Country Director of the Global Travel and
Tourism Partnership (GTTP), East Africa. The GTTP is a multi-country
educational program that introduces students to career
opportunities in Travel & Tourism. To date, more than a million and a
half students in 12 countries have participated in the GTTP. Joseph
received his undergraduate degree in Sociology from the University
of Western Ontario, Canada and holds an MBA from University of
Nottingham, U.K. He runs numerous projects involving youth,
including a World Bank sponsored program for over 10,000 youth in
ICT skills training to help them attain jobs and to become self-reliant.

As public affairs advocate for the National Tour Association
(NTA), Stephen Richer is the voice of the packaged travel
industry on matters of public policy in Washington, DC, and a
key tourism leader who helps to grow travel to, from, and
within North America. His role in organizing better
communications and industry -sensitive public policy has had
an impact globally from the Far East to Africa, from the Middle
East to Europe, from South America to the borders of the USA
and throughout the islands of the world from the Caribbean to
the Pacific. Richer retired from his position as executive
director of the Mississippi Gulf Coast Convention and Visitors
Bureau in 2007, where he was involved in the recovery from
Hurricane Katrina. Previously, he served as the first New Jersey
director of tourism, the first executive director of the Nevada
Commission on Tourism, and president of the Atlantic City
Convention and Visitors Bureau. Richer is a former Mayor of
Randolph Township, New Jersey and a member of the Jewish
Federations of North America Emergency Committee, which
funds organizations globally for disaster relief.

Partner Concepts is a tourism marketing consulting firm that
specializes in helping destinations around the world increase
visitation from the U.S. and Canada. Clients include Botswana,
Ethiopian Airlines, China, Nicaragua, and the British Virgin
Islands, among others. Prior to co-founding Partner Concepts
in 2002, John led a digital marketing firm, served as investor
relations manager for an internet service provider, and worked
as a public relations manager for a Fortune 500 bank. John

OGO SOW, Radio Journalist; Advisor to the ATA Executive

Ogo Sow, affectionately known as “Mr. Africa,” is a Senegalese
national from Kaolack. In 1985, Sow moved to the U.S. to
launch the first African-owned community radio station
focusing on issues facing the Africa Diaspora living in the U.S.,
as well as those at home. Currently, he is the host of
OgoSow.com (Africavision), the first African talk show in the
U.S. His show is a leader in online media and entertainment,
especially amongst the African Diaspora community. His

broadcasts are conducted in English, French, and Wolof. Sow is
a dedicated member and advocate for the Africa Travel
Association (ATA), where he serves on the International Board
of Directors and is a key advisor on Diaspora Affairs.
CHEF PIERRE THIAM, Pierre Thiam Catering Company, USA
Pierre Thiam is a chef, restaurateur and author based in New
York City. He is the owner and founder of Pierre Thiam
Catering Company in New York, specializing in contemporary
West African cuisine. His cookbook “Yolele! Recipes from the
Heart of Senegal” was a finalist of the 2009 Julia Child
Cookbook Award in Denver and won a Special Jury Award at
the Paris Gourmand Award in 2010. He is also the former
