Council approves Pavilion contract
BY ALAN C. SCHULMAN
Palacios Beacon - Reporter
The newest installment of the Palacios
Pavilion took a big step towards reality
with the awarding of the construction
contract at last week’s Palacios City
Council meeting.
Contract Awarded for new Pavilion
A contract was awarded to Charnock
and Company for construction of the
new Pavilion at last Tuesday’s City
Council meeting. Three motions were
required for the council to award the
contract. First, the original low bid of
$2,392,500 had to be approved. Second,
the negotiated deductions in the amount
of $330,389 were approved, followed
by the approval of additional negotiated
deductions which brought the total deductions to $350,389, putting the “as of
right now” total cost to build the Pavilion at $2,042,500. City Manager David
Kocurek will work with Grant Works to
prepare the necessary paperwork to execute the construction agreement, and
after some city and county approvals
are received, a groundbreaking date will
hopefully be announced.
PEDC offer to purchase land
The Palacios Economic Development
Corporation has a written offer in the
amount of $30,000 from the EDC fund
balance to purchase real property located at 500 Commerce St., Lots 1, 2 and 3
of Block 54 Palacios Original Township,
consisting of .22 Acres. Debbie Morris,
who is on the PEDCboard, addressed the
council saying, “it’s leveraging the assets of the Palacios EDC to bring about
some changes that will be beneficial for

The long awaited South
Bay Beach Enhancement
project of the Seawall Commission is picking up steam
as reported at last week’s
monthly meeting with all
commissioners present.
Tom Schmidt, of Urban
Engineering, reported on
progress made toward the
South Bay Beach Nourishment Project and stated that
all permits are in hand. Plans
are ready and the School
Land Board will meet in November to approve the lease
of the project site. Urban Engineering asked for Seawall
Commission approval to be
ready to advertise in November and have a bid opening at
the December meeting. This
would allow the contractor to
be ready to work during the
low tides of winter to complete the project. The commissioners agreed and also
instructed the south groins
repair be added to the scope
of work.

Debbie Morris, Port Director for Matagorda County
Navigation District No. 1 was
on hand to discuss the potential for coordination between
the Navigation District and
the Seawall Commission to
dredge the South Bay boat
ramp and the South Bay Marina and harbor. The amount
of material to be excavated
from the ramp area is still under review and calculation by

U.S. Rep. Farenthold addresses amid busy monthly meeting
local, national topics at Town Hall

“Quite frankly, I want to know that the
fish I’m buying is actually the fish the
seafood vendor tells me it is,” stated Rep.
Blake Farenthold, at Thursday’s town hall
meeting held at the Palacios Navigation
District Port Administration Building.
Speaking to an over-flowing Port Board
room, Farenthold stated, “Foreign fisherman who sell fish in the U.S. need to abide
by the same rules and regulations with respect to record keeping as our domestic
fishermen.” Speaking about the Protecting
Honest Fishermen Act of 2015, which he
and Stephen Lynch (D-MA) introduced on
July 29 of this year, he continued, “This
goes a long way toward doing that without
putting any additional regulations on our
domestic fishermen.”
When asked by local shrimp boat owner,
David Aparicio, if the law also applied to
shrimp, Farenthold answered, “It covers
all seafood, it will cover shrimp as well.”
Rep. Farenthold, who sits on three committees in the U.S. Congress, kicked off
the meeting by addressing the ‘standing
room only” crowd with some of his concerns, including finding the next Speaker
of the House, unemployment, border
security, incompetence at the Office of
Veteran’s Affairs, Middle East refugees,
etc. Farenthold, who founded a computer

that the fire department spent
the money contributed from
the MCND last year on the
PVFD bunker gear replacement program, since they
are trying to replace it on a
5-year rotation plan.
Hooper noted the two fire
trucks are now ten and twenty years old. The oldest fire
truck is in the shop in Houston getting a new transmission computer installed. “The
City, along with the County,
is setting aside some budget
funds to assist in purchasing
a new fire truck. Hopefully,
we will get some grant funds
to assist with that purchase,”
Hooper said.

Entertainment Center approved for Bay City
Bay City: The city council and Bay City Community
Development Corporation’s (BCCDC) Board of Directors
voted nearly unanimously to approve a public-private
partnership to bring a movie theatre entertainment complex
to Bay City. The Schulman Movie Bowl Grille is presently
envisioned as a 47,000 square-foot entertainment complex
on almost eight acres of land. It’s planned to have eight
screens, arcades, bowling and a full service bar and grill.
The partnership would consist of BCCDC building a facility
and entering into a long-term lease with the entertainment
company. Schulman will provide the furniture, fixtures and
equipment for the complex with hopes to buy out the lease
within five years. - Bay City Tribune
Needville man wins Mr. Olympia championship
Needville: Local powerlifter Cody Knebel won the
Mr. Olympia powerlifting championship in the 275 pound
class last month in Las Vegas. Knebel, who grew up in
Hillje and graduated from Louise High School in 2001,
bench pressed 646 pounds, deadlifted 666 and squatted
877 pounds. His squat lift set a Texas state record in his
division and the bench press set a world record. “I tried to
deadlift 700 pounds at the end of the meet so I could set a
big record there, but I guess I was on cloud 9 and wasn’t
thinking straight, because that was too much weight,” he
laughed. “But I was really proud of the marks I hit.” - El

Heffelfinger Historical Marker dedication
A Texas State Historical marker was dedicated for William Walter "Pudge" Heffelfinger at Hawley Cemetery
Sunday afternoon, October 11, 2015. Pudge was the first
documented professional football player in the United
States. He married Grace Pierce, daughter of Jonathan Edwards and Nannie Lacy Pierce. Pudge and Grace lived at
Live Oak Farm near Blessing in their later years and are
buried at Hawley.
The Texas State Historical Marker reads as follows:
William Walter ‘Pudge’ Heffelfinger
Heffelfinger was born in 1867 in Minneapolis and began
playing football at age 15. He organized a team at his high
school and played four seasons at Yale on the varsity team,
where in 1890, he conveived the idea of the pulling-guard
play. ‘Pudge’ also played baseball, track and rowed on the
Yale crew. He is considered the first professional football
player in the U.S. being paid $500 to play in Pittsburgh in
1892. He coached college teams in three states, taking Yale
football style to his California team. Heffelfinger married
Matagorda County native Grace Harriett Pierce in 1901,
and they had three children. ‘Pudge’ was inducted into the
College Football Hall of Fame in 1951. He passed away in
1954 at his home near Blessing.
Ralph Delahayne Paine in Roads of Adventure (1922)
wrote of teammate Heffelfinger, who he faced in practice
games:“It is enough to say that when in action ‘Pudge’ Heffelfinger, six feet three in his cleated shoes and as hard as
iron, was sheer devastation. During that one season of actively intermingling with him on the trampled turf, a broken
nose, a telescoped neck, and a leg in a plaster cast convinced me that I had been working, in my humble way, for
the cause of Yale football. It was pleasanter, on the whole,
to row on a crew with Heffelfinger than to be dismembered
by degrees all over the field. He was never a vicious nor an
unfair player. Let us call him zealous.”

of Washington D.C. continued with the
Iran Nuclear deal, saying, “This Iran
deal should have been treated as a treaty, requiring a supermajority in the Senate. I think it’s clearly the biggest mistake that’s been made during the 2 1/2
terms I’ve been in Congress.” He also
expressed his support for the defunding
of Planned Parenthood, if for no other
reason than the videos that have recently
surfaced, but also that Republicans have
introduced legislation that would take
all the Federal dollars given to Planned
Parenthood and redirect them to community health centers that would offer
the same women’s health services.
When asked about his views on EPA
overreach by City Councilman Glenn
Smith, Rep. Farenthold answered that
“The EPA is one of the most aggressive regulators in the government. Some
people joke that it stands for Every
President’s Army, not Environmental
Protection Agency.” Legislation has
been introduced and passed in Congress
to control the EPA, and others, who
have become extremely powerful federal agencies that are able to effectively
create law without further congressional authorization or accountability. The
Reins Act would require Congress and
the President to affirm major federal
rules with an economic impact of $100
million or more. It has yet to pass in the
Senate.

Pavilion Update
Debbie Morris, as a member of the
Palacios Beautification and Pavilion
Committee, provided an update on recent action taken by City Council to allow the Pavilion architect, Randall-Porterfield, to work through due diligence
with the apparent low bidder for the
project, Charnock and Company from
Hitchcock, Texas. Mrs. Morris reported
that “the low bid of $2,392,500 has now
been accepted by the City Council”.
The contractor has been cooperating
well and the committee has been able to
shave off over $357,000 from the original approved bid so far and hopes are
to be able to cut several more thousand
dollars of the project budget through
additional value engineering (cost cutting) in other areas. Insurance coverage
for the project, including builder’s risk,
is being studied to find the most costeffective coverage. Morris further stated
that we are all looking forward to the
ground breaking.

The Board has followed a
lengthy process in determining the finalist. In August,
the Board hired Texas Association of School Boards

Services to direct the search.
TASB consultants met with
staff and community groups
on August 20th to discuss
desired characteristics of
the new superintendent. The
profile developed from these
meetings was the yardstick
used by the Board and consultants in evaluating the applicants for the position.
The Board selected eight
applicants for initial interviews. Three applicants were
invited back for a second
interview. With the second
round of interviews completed, a committee of the Board
visited Natalia ISD and reported back to the Board. The
Board is scheduled to vote to
offer a contract to Flores on
November 10.
Flores has served as Assis-

As for the progress on the new fire station,
Hoopoer said, We have plans in the making
to build a new fire department at 7th Street
and Henderson. This will be more centrally
located and on higher ground, making it accessible for a command center after a disaster.
The plans are for pull-through bays, similar
to the station in Port Lavaca. We have contracted with Urban Engineering to work on
the site assessment plan and have an architect
to work out the concept and functionality of
the building. Our preliminary estimates are
that the building could cost up to $500,000
alone. Plans are to raise funds and get commitments in 2016 and have ground breaking
in 2017, with the building operational toward
the end of 2017.”
Hooper thanked the MCND#1 Board for
their time and past support.

POWER SET tours STP
On Thursday, October
8, 2015, POWER SET
visited the South Texas
Project Nuclear Plant to
tour the simulator and
meet with some of the
mentors for POWER
SET.
Arriving at the facility, POWER SET visited
the control room simulator to learn about how
employees are trained
to run the plant, what to
do in case of emergencies and other scenarios, and how nuclear fission happens in
the plant and how that fission creates energy. For the first time, all of the members
were allowed to do something they always
wanted: they were able to push any button
in the simulator that they chose, and then
they worked together as a team to figure
out how to get the simulator back in working order.
After the simulator, members met with
some of the mentors at STP and Kathleen
Van Daalen - STP Health Physicist and
Women in Nuclear Chapter Representative,
as well as lead mentor, showed POWER
SET how much radiation was in everyday
items that we all come into contact with,
such as salt substitutes and ceramic plates.
A bonus of this visit was that the two
members of the Nuclear Regulatory Commission, Nick Hernandez and Fred Sanchez, were on site due to meetings with STP
to ensure that proper safety regulations and
plant operations were being done correctly.
They spoke to the group about career opportunities with the federal agency. Sanchez also emphasized the importance and
dangers of social media. “Social media is a key player in the job
search process today. Potential employers
may research your social media accounts
prior to an interview,” said Sanchez. “Be
cautious of what you post.”
To end the trip, we visited the giant reservoir that provides the water that cools the
plant, as well as provides unique habitat for
local wildlife.
Start planning what you
will wear for the “Monstrous
5K Glow by the Bay” scheduled for Saturday, October
31st @ 7:30 p.m. The start
and finish line is at the city
park in Palacios with a new
safer route in the downtown
area.
Enjoy the music filled
course, wear a glowing costume, and light up the night
in support of the Boys &
Girls Club of Palacios.
The whole family is sure
to enjoy this fun filled nighttime experience by walking,
strolling, jogging, racing,
whichever way works for
you. To add to the excitement, participants are encouraged to dress up in costumes that rock and glow.
There will be a contest at
7:15 for the best costume and
costume with the most glow.
The Boys & Girls Club
along with participating organizations will provide the
children an opportunity to
“Trunk or Treat” along the
5K.
Cost for adults, 18 & up, is
$20 per person and students,
ages 6-17, are $10 per person. Palacios Boys & Girls
Club members and children
5 and under are free. For an
additional $10, participants
can purchase an “official”
Monstrous 5K t-shirt. Register by October 16th to guarantee a t-shirt.

10 years of helping monitor
the coast at Palacios HS
Beginning their 10th year as participants in the Texas
High School Coastal Monitoring Program under the
oversight of the University of Texas Austin’s Bureau of
Economic Geology and in cooperation with the LCRA,
Palacios High School Physics and Environmental Systems students make their first of three “beach monitoring trips” to Matagorda Beach. The goals of this effort
according to Richard Davis, instructor, are to:
• Provide high school students with a real world learning experiences.
• Increase public awareness and understanding of
coastal processes and hazards.
• Obtain a better understanding of the relationship
between coastal processes, beach morphology, and
shoreline change, and make data and findings available
for solving coastal management problems.
On these trips, the students are responsible to accurately survey a beach profile from the same origin point
behind the fore dunes to the waterline, to process that
data profile and to make it available through the Texas’
Coastal Monitoring website dedicated to that purpose.

• The Kitchen Table •
By Debbie Mosier
Supper’s Ready
The kitchen table is a place to share a meal, talk about
the day’s events, or do a homework lesson. The intent of
this column is to do the same - share a recipe, tell a story,
and answer questions about food and how to prepare it.
We all love to eat, but we can’t seem to fit the time
to prepare home cooked meals into our busy schedules.
Fast food has become a best friend who makes cooking supper so quick and easy. How important is it to sit
down and have a family meal anyway? According to Dr.
Ann Fischer, founder of the Family Dinner Project, “the
stories told around the kitchen table help our children
to build resilience. Regular family meals also lower the
rates of obesity and eating disorders in children and adolescents.” The kitchen table is even a teaching tool as we
practice good table manners and teach our children to
do the same. Family meals are important, but trying to
balance our schedules to fit in cooking and sitting down
to a family meal creates a problem. So, how can we find
the time?
According to Consumer Reports, “83% of families
owned a slow cooker in 2011.” Do you? It’s time to find
that slow cooker or invest in one. The Rival website tells
us the original Crockpot began as a bean pot and has
evolved into an array of programmable slow cookers
today. Even the novice can find a way to get started in
the kitchen. Slow cookers minimize the time we have
to spend standing over that hot stove, and the end result
can be a delicious dinner with little preparation required.
Now, we have time to sit down to that family dinner and
enjoy valuable family time. Those few minutes at the
kitchen table can be a stress reliever for the whole family, even mom.
The recipe I’m sharing today came about before slow
cookers were on the scene; so, it can also be made in
a roaster pan in the oven with no need for stirring and
tending the pot. As the cooler temperatures come, warming comfort foods are on the menu. We think about that
steaming pot of soup or a delicious thick, rich stew.
Here’s a recipe for a slow cooking, hearty stew everyone
will enjoy. If you are cooking for one or two, freeze the
leftovers for another day or invite friends or family to
join you at the kitchen table to share your dinner.
Slow and Easy Stew
2 lbs. lean beef, cut into chunks
4-5 carrots, cut into one inch pieces
3 stalks of celery, cut into one inch pieces
1 slice of bread, crust removed, broken into small
pieces
4 white potatoes, cut into one inch chunks
1 green pepper, cut into small chunks
1 t. salt
1 t. black pepper
2 t. sugar
2 t. minced garlic
1 t. Italian seasoning
2 – 14.5 oz. cans diced tomatoes (can add one can Rotel tomatoes for more spice)
1 medium onion, cut into small pieces
2 T. Minute tapioca (found on the instant pudding
aisle)
Put all ingredients in a heavy roaster pan with a tight
lid or a slow cooker and mix well. If baking in the oven,
cook for five hours at 250 degrees. If using a slow cooker, cook on high for 5 hours. No need to stir. The tapioca
is a key ingredient as it serves to thicken the stew.

Tigers dominate Danbury, showdown with Boling Fri.
BY RYAN WEST
Palacios Beacon Publisher
With over 600-yards of offense, Tidehaven’s varsity Tigers took Danbury out to the
woodshed in last week’s 62-6 victory.
Tidehaven’s offense looked like a juggernaut and ran the ball down Danbury’s
throat for 446-yards and picked up another
161-yards through the air.
While the offense churned up the yardage,
the Tiger defense kept the Panthers in check
with 125-yards via the air and just 10-yards
on the ground.
“I thought we played well throughout the
entire night,” remarked Tidehaven head coach
Brent
Mas“After

pounded the Panthers for 264
yards and three touchdowns on
just nine carriers. Fellow Tiger
sophomore Jacob Galvan took
two of his five carries to the
house for scores and finished
with 68-yards. Tidehaven’s
one-rushing touchdown trio
was comprised of Brandon
Brune (9-63), David Prescott
(3-12) and Leighton Galvan (126).
Tiger QB, sophomore Bryce
Galvan passed for 161-yards
and a touchdown on a 4-10
passing.
Jacob Galvan reeled in a pair of passed for
86-yards, while Brune snared a 50-yarder for
a touchdown. Isiah Morales caught one pass
for 25-yards.
As for his defensive unit, Mascheck noted
they “one again played outstanding.”
“Our defensive linemen and linebackers put
pressure on the quarterback the entire game.
We shut down the running game and made
them one dimensional.”
“Coach Russell and the defensive staff really confused Danbury with different looks
by bringing the outside backers or dropping
them into coverage, and they did a great job
the entire night.”
Mascheck indicated good games from inside linebackers David Prescott and Cameron
Riojas.
“We have been waiting for Cameron to turn
it on and I thought he played very well. Our
outside linebackers Isiah Morales, Brandon
Roll Tide
Litzau and Dylan Mallette
had a great night as well.”
Talented Bulldogs Next
The Tigers will face one
of their toughest challenges
thus far as they host Boling
at 7:30 p.m. Fri. (Oct. 23) in
El Maton.
On Boling, Mascheck calls
the Bulldogs “one of the
most talented teams in the
state”.
“They have outstanding size and speed and
have been ranked as high
as No. 6 in the state,” Mas-
check noted. “We are going to have to play a
clean game to have a chance to win the game.
We will have to play with incredible heart and
passion.”
“We are going to have to eliminate the mental mistakes, because in a game like this one,
mental mistakes can be the difference between losing and winning.”
“We have them at home so we need Tiger
Nation to show up and be loud,” added Mascheck.
Prior to Friday’s game kicking off, the Tidehaven Athletic Booster Club will be honoring
the 1980 Tidehaven Tiger State Championship Football team.
Sharkettes spiked by Edna in three
The varsity Sharkettes were bucked by
Edna’s Cowgirls on the volleyball court last
week.
Palacios fell in three sets 12-25, 15-25, 1525.
“We played point for point in the second
and third set but after point 13 we started
making consecutive errors,” said Sharkette
head coach Barbara Buckley-Peeples. “We
have to be more consistent in our play, especially when we play teams like Edna.”
Katy Sexton spearheaded the Sharkette attack and finished with 10 kills, 11 digs, one
assist, one block and served up one ace. Elizabeth Ortiz finished with a team high 20 digs
and netted four kills and one assist. Lila Filip
was a force at the net with three blocks and
chimed in with 11 digs, and five kills. Brittany Guerrero picked up six assists and five
digs; Kamryn Vickers tallied three assists,
three digs and sent one ace over the net; Cameron Greaves finished with three digs, two
kills and two aces; Chae Neimeyer picked up
a pair of digs and one assist; Marissa Figueroa
netted one dig and one kill; and Vriana Hernandez finished with one dig.
The Sharkettes were to visit Hallettsville
on Tues. (Oct. 20) and will have an open date
on Fri. (Oct. 23). Palacios will close out the
regular season on Tues. (Oct. 27) as they host
Industrial.
JV Sharkettes spike
Edna in two sets
The junior varsity Sharkettes
bounced Edna in straight sets, 259, 25-9 in last week’s lone volleyball action.
Brianna Serna went wild at the
serving line and dropped 19 points
on the JV Cowgirls, followed by
Karina Ramon’s 10 points. The
quartet of Sarah Filip, Bailey
Grones, Emily Shimek and Brooke
Vandenbergh each finished with
four points. Brianne Simmons
found space on the floor for three
points and with one point each
were Vivian Parga and Sydney
Bowers.
THE football tumbles to the turf following the hit by Palacios’ Brian Guerrero (33) and
bounces at the feet of Chris Tover (3). Closing in on the action are Matthew Aparicio
(30), Anderw Manrriquez (22) and Tommy Bowden (4). (Beacon Photo by Ryan West)
Hitchcock slips past JV Sharks 28-26
The JV Sharks were edged by Hitchcock
28-26 in Palacios last Thursday.
Palacios QB Tommy Bowden tossed for
three scores. Andrew Manrriquez caught
the first on a six yard strike and Chris Tovar
reeled in touchdown passes of 50 and 23
yards.
Tovar also tacked on a two-point conversion catch.
Jacob Nemes gave Palacios its final
touchdown on a 33-yard run.
The JV Sharks will travel to Hempstead
for Thursday’s (Oct. 22) tilt with the Bobcats at 6 p.m.
Sharkette frosh down
Edna in straight sets
The freshman Sharkette spikers prevailed over Edna in straight sets, 25-17,
25-10.
Reagan Ramirez led Palacios with six
serves. Sarah Hebel sent five serves over
the net and picked up four hits. Lanae

Bulldogs speed deals Sharks 55-6 loss
BY RYAN WEST
Palacios Beacon Publisher
The threat of outside violence didn’t deter the fightin’
Palacios Sharks from making
the trip to Hitchcock for last
week’s gridiron contest.
While the outside threat
never developed, the Sharks
were victimized by speed,
speed and more speed as
Hitchcock ran through the
Sharks en route to a 55-6
thrashing.
The Bulldogs chewed up
the Sharks for 523-yards on
the ground.
While the defense was left
tackling air as the Bulldogs
darted here and there and everywhere, the Shark offense
showed a pulse for the first
time in several weeks.
Palacios running back Danny Rodriguez found some
rhythm and a few creases to
run through and finished with
126-yards and Palacios’ lone

touchdown on 18 carries.
Also in on the ground game
were Ethan Garcia (29-25)
and Sherwin Ceasar (1-26).
Garcia was 4 of 10 passing
for 35 yards and was picked
off once by the Bulldogs.
Ceasar caught two balls for
12 yards. Henry Molina and
Adrian Ortiz each caught one
pass for 12 and 11 yards, respectively.
As for the game action, the
Sharks looked to be on the
move after a first down on the
games opening drive. However a sack of the QB and a
pair of incompletions led the
Sharks to punt the ball away.
From the first time Hitchcock touched the ball, their
speed and elusiveness was
on display. On the Shark
punt, Hitchcock’s Nathanial
Walker fielded the kick and
bolted his way 70-yards for
the touchdown.
The Sharks took over
deep in their own end of the
field and again looked to be
making some headway. The
Sharks got into Bulldog territory and then, thanks to a personal foul face mask against
the Bulldogs, the Sharks were
down to the Hitchcock 37.
Palacios managed to get as
far as the Bulldog 29, before
back-to-back sacks turned
the ball over on downs to the
Bulldogs.
Three plays later, the Bulldog speed appeared again as
Michael Parker broke free for
a 47-yard touchdown scamper.
Palacios’ next possession
was perhaps their best of the
night.
With the ball at their own
Pigskin balancing act...

nearly pulled off the improbable one-handed interception with a Hitchcock Bulldog on his back during last
week’s District contest, but was unable to hold onto
the pigskin. (Beacon Photo by Ryan West)
24, the Sharks looked destined for paydirt as Palacios
marched down the field with
four first downs before the
drive stalled at the Bulldog
12 as Garcia was sacked for
an eight-yard loss on 4th &
four from the Bulldog 12.
Two plays later, the Bulldogs were in the endzone
again on a 73-yard run by
Joshua Daniels.
The Sharks’ next drive ended in a three and out.
Instead of a long run for a
score, the Bulldogs orchestrated a 12-play, 85-yard
drive capped off by a one
yard run by Xavian Hampton.
The Bulldogs took the
second half kickoff and on
the second play of the half,
found themselves in the end
zone again on a 64-yard run
by Parker.
The Sharks went nowhere
on their first possession of the
second half and punted away
after just three snaps.
This time, Hitchcock didn’t
need more than one play, as
Daniel’s ripped off an 84yard run on the first play of
the drive.
Another Shark three and
out, was followed by a three
play scoring drive by the
Bulldogs on a 64-yard run by
Walker.
After another Palacios three
and out, the Sharks managed
to stop the Bulldogs on 4th &
9 to get the ball back at near
midfield.
The Sharks marched down
the field on a six play drive,
that saw Rodriguez scoot the
final 17-yards to paydirt.
Palacios’ celebration of
breaking the shutout was
short lived as the Bulldogs
zapped the Sharks with a
70-yard touchdown run by
Walker on the first play from
scrimmage.
This Week
The Sharks (0-2, 1-6) host
Hempstead’s Bobcats (0-2,
1-6) in a battle for the District
14-3A DI basement.
The Bobcats are coming
off a 38-22 loss to Industrial
last Friday and will be looking to turn their fast sinking
season around.
Hempstead sunk the Sharks
48-8 last season.
Sharks unable to muzzle Bulldogs...
EVEN when the Sharks had the Bulldogs surrounded, the elusive and quick Hitchcock ball carriers left the Sharks grabbing air much of the night. (Above) Sharks
