Self Study Is Validated by Visitation Team
March 2010
Self Study Is Validated by Visitation Team
Dear members of the KMLHS family,
The validation team for Kettle Moraine Lutheran High School, Jackson, Wisconsin, would like
to acknowledge the warm hospitality offered by the school community during the site visit
that took place on February 16-17, 2010. It was apparent that the members of your school
community put many hours into the self study. They examined every aspect of your school’s
educational program. In the process they identified both strengths and areas for growth.
The visiting team worked diligently at validating the findings of your self study and verifying that your school is in compliance with the WRISA (Wisconsin Religious and Independent
Schools Addreditation) Standards and Quality Indicators. The members used their knowledge,
experience, and insights as they interviewed stakeholders, observed the school in action, and
examined numerous written documents. The visiting team found that the self study was an
accurate reflection of the school’s program. The team hopes that the school community finds
the report to be both an affirmation of the school’s strengths and unique gifts and also a source
of encouragement to continue to carry out the school’s mission.
The team is hopeful that the information herein will be helpful in developing a strategic plan
and/or long-range plan for school improvement. The focus of the strategic plan is to correct any
deficiencies that were identified in the self study and visiting team report within the next one to
three years. The focus of a long range plan
is to identify and concentrate on one area
that will have a significant impact for your
school. It may be in the area of development,
marketing, recruitment, or curriculum.
The long range plan can extend over a
five year period.
Again, thank you for allowing the visiting
team to come into your school, and thank you
for the warm hospitality that was extended to
us.
Respectfully,
John D. Kolander, Ph.D.
Visiting Team Chairperson
The outside Visitation Team reviewed the work of our
KML self study committees. Together they compiled a
list of 30 commendations and 70 recomendations. The
recomendations will be used to create a school improvement
plan for the next three years. A full report will be
available soon on the KML website. KML was recomended
for full accreditation to Wisconsin Religious and
Independent Schools Accreditation (WRISA).

DID YOU KNOW?
New ALERTNOW communication system ...
Keeping parents informed is a high priority at KML. To
improve our communication to parents, we have adopted
the ALERTNOW notification service which allows us
to send telephone, text, and e-mail messages to parents
providing important information about school events or
emergencies. We are using ALERTNOW to notify parents
of school delays or cancellations due to inclement weather. The system can be used for other communication
purposes as well. For example, we can use ALERTNOW
to let parents know about changes in sports schedules for
rainouts in our spring sports season or game cancellations.
Varsity Volleyball earned their third championship in
a row at the Washington County Invite and the Wisconsin
Flyway Conference Championship. The team went on to
earn their fourth Division II WIAA Regional Championship.
The KML Cheer Team, coached by Amy Nass and
Megan Wisniewski, participated in the WACPC (Wisconsin Association of Cheer/Pom Coaches) Wisconsin State
Championships Cheerleading Competition held in Green
Bay. Over 60 teams from Wisconsin high schools
participated in the state competition. The KML Cheer
Team earned a first place standing in their division and
were named the Division III State Champions for the
seventh year in a row.
In addition to the team awards, KML’s stunt groups
took second place (Theresa Chiconas, Ashley Ihlenfeldt,
Kaylin Nick, Ashley Scott) and fourth place (Abby Clausing, Brooke Lemke, Monica Pless, Ashley Tollefson).
Lastly, after a live individual tryout, Abby Clausing was
named to the 2010 WACPC All-State Cheer Team and
Monica Pless was named to the 2010 WACPC Honorable
Mention team.
Morgan Steffens Heads to State... For the third year
in a row, KML had female representation at the WIAA
State Cross Country Meet, running in Wisconsin Rapids.
Morgan raced to an 8th place finish at the WIAA Sectional meet in Pewaukee, with a time of 16:12, earning her an
individual qualifying spot for the state competition. The
experience is not a new one for her, as she was part of the
first female KML team to race at the state meet last year.

Special gift opportunities
As a non-profit organization, we rely heavy on the gifts of our friends - people
who believe in the benefits of a solid Christian education. ALL gifts of support are
appreciated. Together we advance the Lord’s ministry in at Kettle Moraine Lutheran
High School.
Many people are also members of our special giving groups which support either
operating, building debt reduction, or student assistance.
Pledge
An easy way to make a big difference is to make a pledge of a larger amount and spread that gift out over a few
years. This can even be made simpler by setting up regular support through the automatic withdrawal option.
Path Paver
Gifts to Walking the PATH Together are used to reduce our debt and build a KML Performing Arts Center.
Consider becoming a Path Paver and qualify for a stone that will be used in the actual construction. Remember,
there are three ways to qualify for a stone:
• Three year pledge of $175 per year
• Gift of $500 or more in one year
• Gift of $1,000 or more in one year (qualifies for an engraved stone)
Macedonian Circle
•
•
The Macedonian Circle provides significant gifts in support of the school’s operating budget and
building campaign. Members make three or five year pledges indicating their area of support for KML.
Operating pledges of $1,000 or more per year for five years
Walking the PATH Together pledges of $1,000 or more per year for three years
Beyond the regular tax advantages, the joy of using God’s bounty for building his kingdom will
grow with a “Circle” of fellow believers.
Heritage Society
Include KMLHS or the KML Foundation in your estate plans and leave a legacy to further the ministry at your
high school. Whether it be bequests, wills, trusts, charitable gift annuities, life insurance, etc., KML can help you so
that your wishes are in place.
KML Foundation
An estate gift to the KML Foundation will be invested and preserved to provide student
tuition assistance for generations to come.
We recognize that God gives us all we have. In thankfulness, we respond to his grace.
Think of the possibilities
God has sometimes used a few or even only one of his servants to accomplish his purpose. We have clear lessons
of Biblical heroes who answered their call to serve.
KML has been blessed with a thriving ministry because of the stewardship of a “few” of God’s people. It is
amazing to see that in 2009 with the support of our federation, the impact of 2179 gifts received from only 629 people
totaled $1,599,050. These gifts supported the People and Programs of KML, the Walking the Path campaign, and the
tuition assistance program.
Imagine how ministry of church and school would thrive if we ALL would answer God’s call to serve with talents
and treasures...
The KML Federation is blessed with 15,000 communicants. Imagine the impact if each member of our federation supported their high school with a gift of just $10 per month. Many of our donors have already committed to this
through the convenience of autowithdrawal.
Each gift will advance the ministry of teaching the absolute truth of God’s Word to this generation of his people. It
is no small task. Think of the possibilities when God’s people unite in a whole hearted effort to live Christ’s mission to
preach and teach his message to the world.

Linda Fuller called home on
January 27, 2010
Linda Louise Fuller (nee Zimont), 62, of West Bend, passed away Wednesday,
January 27, 2010, in Tustin, California, from her second battle with cancer.
Mrs. Fuller graduated from the University of Illinois in 1969 and became a
high school Spanish teacher in Illinois. In 1992 she moved to West Bend and spent
the last 18 years as Senora Fuller to students at Kettle Moraine Lutheran High
School in Jackson. She taught English, began a two year Spanish course at KML,
and developed the program into a five year course of study. In 2003, at the age of
56, Mrs. Fuller graduated from Marquette University with a masters degree. Along
with her teaching profession, Linda was a devoted mom and faithful servant to
the Lord. She enjoyed being a member of Trinity Lutheran Church (ELS) in rural
West Bend.
Mrs. Fuller was first diagnosed with cancer in 2007. After treatment her cancer returned in January, 2010. Mrs. Fuller left for California for treatment in mid
January. Her health declined quickly and dramatically over the days she was there.
Mrs. Fuller was blessed with five children, four of whom attended and graduated from KML.
Jinnie (Jeff) King
Jacob Fuller - KML 1996
Joanna Fuller - KML 1997
Jessica (Tom) Porter - KML 1998
Jackie Fuller - KML 2001
Her six grandchildren are Easton Fuller, Isabelle and Lucas Porter, Joshua and Anthony Polster and Kloe King. She is
further survived by sisters, Sandra Burley, Debra (Donald) Vischulis, Rita (Jon) Ellithorpe; nieces and nephews, Yvonne
(Daryl) Mulvany, Matthew (Beckie) Vischulis, Talon (Erin) Ellithorpe, Brighton Ellithorpe and Elyse Vischulis; other
relatives and many friends. Mrs. Fuller was preceded in death by her parents, Leonard and Helen Zimont, and her husband, Arnold Fuller.
Our friend, colleague, and sister in Christ is now enjoying her Savior’s presence. She went to her eternal rest and
now is experiencing the fulfillment of God’s promise of eternal life. Mrs. Fuller’s gift of life reminds us of the hope that
binds us together as Christ’s family. The assurance of a fulfilled promise of eternal life gives us confidence and purpose
during our time of grace. Let our lives and all we have reflect the joy of Jesus, our Savior.
The future PAC of KMLHS will provide a focal
gathering point for concerts, theater performances,
and conferences not only for our school but also
the communities we serve. Together we can provide a place that stimulates a growing appreciation
of the fine arts in our community! Your support
will help make this vision a reality.

The divine call extended to Pastor Robert Pasbrig has
been returned to us. The Board of Directors will continue

estate planning.
The position is funded by a grant to KML. The call
will be extended as a part-time (20-25 hours/week)
eighteen month position. After one year we will measure
the successes God provided and work to create a
sustainable funding model beyond the initial grant.

Matt writes: “Katie and I attended this year’s homecoming football game at Kettle. At halftime, they had any
attending alumni line up on various yard lines of the football field. Katie and I were the only ones on the East 30
Yard Line representing four years worth of classes. That
was a very odd but special feeling knowing that of the
hundreds of people that could have been there representing four years of graduate classes, the only two that were
there just became engaged.”

place of money when you go shopping. You can support school programs
and cut tuition costs without spending a penny more than you normally would!
The money generated by your purchases is divided as follows:
1. 60% is credited to the Tuition Assistance Program or to a current or future KML student of your choice! Current
freshman, sophomore and junior students will have the credit applied to their next year’s tuition. Current senior families
may transfer their credit to another student or let it default to the tuition assistance program. In the case of a future
student, the credit accumulates and is applied to the student’s account their freshman year at KML.
2. 40% is used to pay for the administrative costs of the Scrip program first (keeping it a self-supporting program) and the
remainder is then used for other areas of ministry support.
If the average family would purchase their groceries, gas and other miscellaneous monthly expenses with Scrip cards,
they could earn approximately $500 per year credit towards their tuition.
A registration form is required at the time of your first order so that we know if the general tuition assistance fund or which
student should be credited. Information and scrip registration form are available online at www.kmlhs.org/scrip or from the
KMLHS office.
