• 3 forum meetings, monthly steering group,
discussion packs, 4 newsletters, website (over
2000 hits), public vote (text messages, online,
postal)…
• Hundreds of people commented and voted

• Community Trustees voted to stay in current

• County council agrees demolition of school

• Lochinvar site:
– New children’s centre and nursery
– New customer contact centre
– New play areas
– New car parking
– Refurbished library
– New park and pedestrian areas

– New full-size football pitch
– New pavilion incl. changing rooms
– New outdoor play area (to be designed with
Longtown’s young people)

• First steps… double check
– Detailed studies of the Parish fields
– Consider how drainage and facilities can be
improved
– Make sure no adverse impact on Lochinvar Close
– Will happen in coming months

• Council must decide how to pay for the
building works
– Fund work through sale of land; or
– Seek developer to take on the building of new
facilities in exchange for the development
land
• Council to decide on preferred option soon

• Other tasks before Christmas…
– Apply to Dept. of Children, Families and Sport
for permission to sell Lochinvar fields
– Install temporary portacabin changing
facilities at Lochivar
• Lochinvar fields will not be sold until new
pitch is ready for use
– Aiming for 2011 playing season

• First new buildings likely to be children’s
centre/nursery and customer contact
centre
• Lots of work to do designing facilities
• Will be working closely with local users
groups to get it right
• Unlikely to be finished before 2012
