SUMMER PROGRAMME
WELCOME TO THE NEW SEASON
Here comes the sun and we have a
sizzling summer season ready and
waiting - jump in, and join us for a
great night out at Mid-Ulster’s premier
theatre, arts and cultural venue.
There’s plenty of laughs to be had this summer.
As part of this year’s Mid Ulster Comedy Festival,
we have multi-award winning stand-up comedian
and star of TV and stage, Russell Kane. Other acts
are to be announced, so watch this space! The
comedy continues with the very best of NornIrish comedy from the stables of Grimes and
McKee, Joseph Rea, Leesa Harker and the Belvoir
Players that will have you rolling in the aisles.
Music highlights include Robert Mizzell, Beoga,
and Camhanach and Cookstown native, Owen
O’Neill (best known for his stand-up comedy)
shows us his writing and performing talents in
a brand new one-man show The Rebel Crown,
taking an irreverent look at what might have
been if history was rewritten, to mark the 400th
anniversary of the death of Hugh O’Neill.
Emerging local talent gets the chance to shine
with performances from Caroline Creggan
Dance School, Superstars, and Open Door
Theatre Company. The Burnavon is proud to be
hosting the very first exhibition of an exciting
photographic artist, McFlynn Imagery, with
their thought-provoking, interactive exhibition,
Semper Veritas: Always True – well worth a look.
And of course being summertime, there’s
an opportunity to get involved in our series
of workshops in arts, crafts and dance for
all those budding ballerinas and makers.
Looking forward to seeing you
over the coming months.

Handbag Positive is a new and hilariously funny play by Donna O’ Connor co-writer
of ‘A Night with George’.
PERFORMANCES
Attracta and Nora were the best of friends when they were teenagers. They shared everything
from their Bay City Roller trousers to boyfriends. In the dark days of the late 1970s they sang
‘shangalang’ and they ran with the gang. Bomb scares at their school weren’t scary at all, they
got a day off, and that was ok by them. They drift apart as people do until fate reunites them
in their middle age. In a local A&E they find themselves back in their teenage years, exchanging
stories as well as insults, and wonder why they ever liked each other and, in particular, how they
ever got a lumber wearing Bay City Roller trousers.
Patrons please note: Over 16’s recommended.
Superstars present
LOVE ME,
LOVE ME NOT
Date:Saturday
11th June
Time:8pm

Superstars are back with a raucous romantic musical comedy about kids growing up
in college. Follow students Roy and Pamela as they meet at a karaoke party, then go
their separate ways, to later end up at the same school! However, their relationship
isn’t straightforward as they struggle to resist peer pressure, rivalry and jealousy.
Under the expert direction of Pearse McCloskey and Moninne Dargan, Superstars are ready
to hit the Burnavon stage with their third production, which promises to be the extravaganza
of song and dance we have come to expect from this dynamic group of young people!

Are you 16-years-old, yet feel 21? Are you

story, but the Rebel Crown written and performed
by award winning actor and writer Owen O’Neill will

PERFORMANCES
One thing is certain. Red Hugh was one of Ireland’s

Maggie and Big Sally-Ann are on top form as they head

Big Sally-Ann in a tizzy. And you’ll never guess who makes

McFLYNN IMAGERY
TITLE: SEMPER VERITAS: ALWAYS TRUE
Dates:
Wednesday 1st June - Thursday 30th June
Admission:FREE
FIRST FLOOR GALLERY
EXHIBITIONS
McFlynn Imagery is an exciting, emerging photographic artist specialising in black
and white imagery, which is rooted in an exploration of our truth, and that of being
true to ourselves. This
concept, which has come
to be more prevalent today
in such a noisy world,
tethers us and allows us
to be true to our roots.
Just like the Latin used in
the title, from which the
origins and ‘roots’ of our
modern language come,
the exhibition images
allow the viewer to hold
true to themselves.
Viewers can take the
images at face value,
or they can choose to
tackle the fundamental
questions of the human
condition: Light versus
dark? Home or away?
Good versus bad? But
only through a prism of
being “always true” to
themselves, and their
personal experiences.
What might you
see, if you look a
little longer?
