A Snapshot Of The City Of San Dimas
The City of San Dimas is generally located in the eastern part of the San
Gabriel Valley, nestled against the San Gabriel Mountains, and is one of 39
incorporated cities and unincorporated county areas that call the San
Gabriel Valley home. San Dimas is 25 miles east of downtown Los Angeles
and 15 miles west of the City of Ontario. To get to San Dimas and its
commercial/professional office locations is both simple and convenient.
The Interstate 10 Freeway is along the City’s southern boundary. Bisecting
the City are the Interstate 210 Freeway, which runs east and west, and
State Route 57, which runs north and south. San Dimas is easily
accessible from anywhere in Southern California.
The incorporated city boundaries of San Dimas encompass approximately 15 square miles. The
Cities of Glendora and Covina are to the west of San Dimas and La Verne is to the east, while the
City of Pomona is to the south. To the north of San Dimas are the San Gabriel Mountains in the
Angeles National Forest The City is considered a bedroom community with commercial, business
and professional office land uses generally clustered together. Local businesses include regional
retailers, corporate brand name tenants, and prosperous local retailers that provide an array of
consumer products and services. The vast majority of retailers, restaurateurs, and service-related
businesses cater to local residents of a bedroom community.
The City’s demographics (see Table 1) show a higher than
average median income, number of persons attending
college, and owner-occupied households. Both the daytime
and nighttime populations are strong, which
makes the City of San Dimas a preferred
location to establish a local business that
caters to a population whose buying patterns
and support services geared to a family’s dayto-day needs.
