Congratulations to Year 12 students who have completed their studies and graduated last
Thursday evening. The valedictory speeches were presented by Amber and Jordan. Both
students prepared and presented well-crafted, reflective and entertaining speeches.
The Pasadena High School Presentation event occurred on Tuesday 9 December. The
awards presented are described and listed on page 3 and 4. Subject award recipients
received medallions (photograph on page 2). Congratulations to all recipients.
At the end of this year several staff will be farewelled from Pasadena High School. Many
of them are preparing for retirement in 2015. We take this opportunity to thank Marcia
Ross for her leadership as Deputy (and Acting Principal on several occasions) and her
commitment to the school. Glenda O’Toole has been Business Manager for 6 years and
the school is in good shape due to her quality management skills. Josie Germein has
managed the financial processes of the school since 1997. We thank them sincerely for
their contributions to the school and wish them much happiness in the next era of their
lives.

Pasadena High School 2015 Improvement Priorities

SACE Improvement Strategy 2015 –
• Headstart program for all SACE students and a similar program model to assist
students in Year 8 and 9 prepare for Year 9 and 10 in 2015.
• Info pack given to all students. Structure supported study. New Year 12
common room. SACE deadline policy.
• Info pack for SACE parents – monitoring and review, improved regular
communication,
Staff have reviewed several policies regarding aspects of schooling such as attendance,
lateness, deadlines, homework and diary use. As a result the Pasadena High School
2015 diary has been produced and will be issued to all students at the commencement of
the school year.
Additional enrolments in the Disability Unit have led to the formation of a seventh class. In
2015 PHS unit will comprise two Year 8 classes, one Year 9, one Year 10, two Year 11
classes and one Year 12.

News from PHU Senior Leader
in the circus showed a great depth of interest and knowledge.
Josh is looking for open employment next year.
The year 12 Graduation ceremony on Thursday December 4th
was a special event to mark the graduation from schooling of
our students in the Pasadena Unit at Pasadena High School.
Giorgio Mouzakitis: Giorgio has been a student in the Unit for
the last 5 years. During this time we have seen the amazing art
work he has produced in painting, drawing and ceramics.
Giorgio also has a love for water which could be problematic on
a rainy day. However, at the Murraylands aquatics camp he
quickly became the instructors’ favourite and his enjoyment of
all the activities was a delight for all to see. Giorgio is will
continue to develop his talents in art as part of the Tutti Arts
Program next year.
The following is an excerpt from Mrs Jill Nicholls who as the
care group teacher for the year 12 group spoke of the
achievements and interests of this group on the evening.
Jessica Barrett: Jessica has been a cheerful and easy going
class member for the last 5 years. That said, she also knows her
own mind and when required she is very good at standing up for
herself. Jessica attended the school trip to Melbourne in 2012
as well as the Murraylands camp in 2013. Her Research Project
this year showed her love of Japan and the Martial Arts. I hope
you get to travel to Japan one day Jessica.
Jim Taylor: Some of us are wondering what are we going to do
without Jim next year. He has been an amazing sportsman over
the years representing the school in basketball, swimming and
soccer to name a few. He recently supported me with the year 7
transition visit, talking to the new students and working with
them in the P.E. lesson. Jim has attended the Melbourne camp,
Murraylands camp, Active 8 and Duke of Ed Trek camp. He has
completed his bronze and silver Duke of Ed award and is now
working towards completing his gold level. Jim is working at
Property and Gardens next year.
Tahlia Batt: Tahlia came to Pasadena in year 9. After settling
in, Tahlia showed she enjoys being part of the group. She
enjoys engaging with staff and students alike. Tahlia enjoyed
the school trip to Melbourne, the Murraylands camp, the Active
8 camp and the Duke of Ed 45 km trek camp. Tahlia completed
her bronze Duke of Edinburgh’s Award. Congratulations also to
Tahlia for representing South Australia in basketball over the
last few years. Tahlia intends doing a WEA course next year.
The best wishes for future success and happiness from all the
teachers go with these students in their chosen pathways.

Riley Brinkies: Riley came to Pasadena during year 10. He
enjoyed making new friendships and being able to play sport,
especially cricket. Riley’s Research Project showed his love for
the game of cricket. He regularly plays indoor cricket on a Friday
night and is trying out for state selection as part of the Lord
Taverner’s Shield. Riley enjoyed spending time with his friends
on the Active 8 camp. Riley is working at Craigburn Farm next
year.

Jordan Chancellor: When I need to know something I asked
Jordan. Jordan is a wealth of information with a great memory.
Jordan is a student who is always willing to have a go. He has
been involved in many camps over the years including
Melbourne, Active 8, Murraylands and Duke of Ed Trek camps.
Jordan completed his bronze Duke of Edinburgh’s award.
Jordan loves following Sturt, the Crows and cricket so we
enjoyed many conversations about these things. Jordan will be
enjoying a year at Suneden School next year.
Oliver Fearnhead: Ollie is a student who loves his sport,
particularly AFL and cricket. His Research Project on the AFL
was so good it was chosen as an example for the moderation
process. Ollie may be a man of few words but don’t be fooled.
He can definitely talk when he wants to. Ollie attended the
school trip to Melbourne to watch his Adelaide Crows in action
and he enjoyed the Active 8 camp. Ollie will be participating in a
day options program in the Adelaide Hills next year.
Joshua Huynh: Joshua has been a very conscientious and
friendly student throughout his school days. His love of tidying
has come in very handy both at school and on school camps. At
the Murraylands camp last year he cooked delicious French
Toast for the whole group. Josh also attended the Active 8
camp and Duke of Ed Trek camp where he completed his
bronze Duke of Edinburgh Award. His Research Project on life
