The

is a non-governmental
organization
(NGO)
which aims to encourage
independent

students, who are divided
into committees comprised
of
different

unique opportunity to discuss current European
topics and come up with
their own resolutions to
these problems.
Some of the topics of this year‟s General
Assembly – “Reflecting,
rebuilding: Emerging
stronger” ranged from the
attainment of energy independence in light of the
Ukraine crisis, corruption
in the EU, Balkan integration into the EU and
the controversial legalization of single-sex marriages throughout Europe.
This year‟s „Discussing
Europe‟ forum raised the
topic: “Empowering the
Youth: The Workforce of
Tomorrow” with three
speakers: Mr Nicos Marcou, Head of Human Resources, Assistant Director, EY Cyprus, Mr Panayiotis Sentonas, President of the Cyprus Youth
Board and Mr Yiannos
Yiannaki Commissioner
for Volunteering and Non

High Achievers International Awards 2014
PASCAL English School
Larnaka has set fundamental objectives towards the
promotion of activities and
charity events that contribute socially to our community and individuals in
need, cultivating a humanitarian and voluntary spirit
within the students.
It is within this spirit that
we once again launched
this campaign in order to
collect as much food as
possible for the Aradippou
Municipal Agora, for the
families in need and in
particular for families who
were literally starving this
year more than ever due to
the economic crisis.
Thirteen pupils of PASCAL English School Larnaka have achieved the
Edexcel High Achievers
International Awards for
Art GCE A level: Fine Art
& International GCSE Art
and Design: Fine Art.
What makes this accomplishment even more remarkable is that fact that
these students are a year
younger than most art exam candidates doing the
exam and achieving these
high international subject
marks.
Our sincere congratulations to our PASCAL
Engish School Larnaka
students who are:

Basketball is one of the
most popular sports in the
world, which both men and
women play. It‟s fast moving, so there‟s no chance of
getting bored! It has many
benefits,
both
mental and physical: It

We are planning to invite a
dermatologist to talk to
students about skincare as
well as a fashion stylist to
give advice on what to
wear according to each
body type and style. A nutritionist will be asked to
talk to them about diet and
healthy nutrition and a
personal trainer will be
invited to demonstrate an
exercise regime. We are
also planning to take students to a beauty salon to
show make up application
techniques as well as to a
perfumery to demonstrate
how perfumes are produced.
The aim of the cooking
club is to help students to
learn basic food preparation skills, prepare and
cook healthy, nutritious
meals, understand how to
prepare foods using good
sanitary practices and prevent injuries in the kitchen

Our aim is to provide our graduating year
with a series of club days
that will combine learning
with having fun. We aim
to treat our 6th Formers in
their final year by exposing
them to new experiences
that they may not have
thought of trying otherwise.
We want to stimulate them
into being more active and
open minded about what
Cyprus has to offer but
more than that, our aim is
to create a thread of activities that they will remember, courtesy of their
school. By participating in
the organized events, we
hope that our members will
see the benefit of being in-
imagination. These activities may include fun craft
activities that involve the
use of exciting material, depending on the season, field
trips to galleries and art exhibition centers, experience
of the concept of drama &
body movement. The students will begin to unlock
channels of communications
and self-expression, group
or individual projects, competition entries organized by
the Ministry of
Education and

The aim of the club is to
develop the dancing skills
of the students in different
types of dances such as
Street dance, Salsa, Latin,
Greek etc. Maria Karapitta, the Mambo Dancing
School teacher, will visit
our school premises to
teach the students different
dances. Every club day,
students will have the
chance to learn the basic
steps of different
dances.
Students who choose to
join the Drama Club develop an understanding
of Drama through the use
of technology, lectures,
discussion and an exploration
of
theatrical
games. They develop a
cohesive sense of team
spirit, through the use of
theatrical games, trust
games, and an exploration of drama. They participate in different ways:
acting, makeup, scenery/
props, script writing, music, or costumes. Students
have the opportunity to
show off their creative
side!
Decoupage is a decorative
technique in which a design is made of cut-out
pieces of newspapers,
magazines,
catalogs,
books, printed clip art,
wrapping paper, greeting
cards, fabric, tissue paper,
lace, paper napkin or ribbons
The main aim
is to create a club run by
past EYP alumni to train
new pupils for participation in the European
Youth Parliament and
other similar events.
Team building strategies,
brainstorming, resolution
writing, and discussion
among the activities of the
club. The European Youth
Parliament Cyprus (EYP)
is a non-governmental organization which aims to
encourage
independent
thinking, intercultural encounters and personal initiative amongst young people in Cyprus. The aim of
the club is to introduce students to the organization
and its philosophy. Each
year, 6 students from the
club will be chosen to represent our school in the
EYP National Session.
Conventional wisdom in
the old days stated that
God-given talent was the
be all and end all for a successful career in football.
Training was only a necessary supplement to what
was already imbued within
a particular individual. Today, while the term „talent‟
is still used, developments
in coaching have allowed
youngsters to emulate the
greats with increasing
ease. Indeed, such is the
importance of football
coaching skills club. Futsal
is one of the most quickly
developing sports. Pu-
PAGE 8
The aim of the club is to
enable students to work
out, improving their overall
fitness. The members of the
club will have the chance
to do something that will
take their mind off the
stress of the school and at
the same time they will
manage to improve their
aerobic fitness, flexibility
and strength. During the six
club days, we will go to
Platinum gym in Larnaka
where the instructors will
discuss fitness with club
members,
encouraging
them to continue working
out. Then, girls will follow
a specific program and will
also have the chance to participate in a TRX class.
Paintball is a fun sport that
requires stealth, tactics,
stamina and a high pain
threshold. The Paintball
club aims to allow students
to experience the different
paintball ranges in Eastern
Cyprus, visiting a different
one each club day.
To teach safe and responsible use of firearms including
sound
decisionmaking, self-discipline and
concentration. It aims to
enhance development of
participant's self-concept,
character and personal
growth through safe, educational and socially acceptable involvement in a
shooting activity. It promotes the highest standards
of safety, sportsmanship,
and ethical behavior. It encourages understanding of
natural resource concepts
through participant's interests in shooting and hunting.
GLIMPSE@PASCAL
Students will interact with
specific organizations, who
are active in social welfare.
Students will be motivated
actively, not only through
specific activities during
the club days, but also during the whole academic
year in the internal school
events, to get involved in
different aspects of social
welfare. Particularly, we
are going to visit and cooperate with CHRISTOU
STELIOU
IOANNOU
FOUNDATION: Visit and
be informed about the operation of “Κοινωνικό
Παντοπωλείο Λάρνακας»,
visit UNICEF, and organize Blood Donation. Additionally we will visit the
pediatric department at the
General Hospital of Larnaka and create a pleasant
atmosphere and experience
for the children by playing,
drawing etc., visit “Argos”,
which is an animal shelter
in Ormidia as well as the
Cyprus Red Cross.

regulations. They will also
be able to form teams and
compete in and out of
school.
The
Sport
Variety Club offers the
chance to its members to
“get away” from lessons
and school by engaging
themselves in pleasant and
fun activities. The aim of
the club is to combine theory and practice in different activities such as Paintball, Bowling, Go-karting,
Gym and Battlefield gaming.
