Parish Schedule this week
FOR YOUR OWN SPIRITUAL REFLECTION:
Sunday, October 30
Thirty-first Sunday in Ordinary Time
Gospel for next Sunday: Luke 20:27-28
Some Sadducees, those who deny that there is a
resurrection, came forward and put this question to Jesus,
aying,
“Teacher, Moses wrote for us,
If someone's brother dies leaving a wife but no child,
his brother must take the wife
and raise up descendants for his brother.
Now there were seven brothers;
the first married a woman but died childless.
Then the second and the third married her,
and likewise all the seven died childless.
Finally the woman also died.
Now at the resurrection whose wife will that woman be?
For all seven had been married to her.”
Jesus said to them,
“The children of this age marry and remarry;
but those who are deemed worthy to attain to the coming age
and to the resurrection of the dead
neither marry nor are given in marriage.
They can no longer die,
for they are like angels;
and they are the children of God
because they are the ones who will rise.
That the dead will rise
even Moses made known in the passage about the bush,
when he called out ‘Lord,’
the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob;
and he is not God of the dead, but of the living,
for to him all are alive.”

St. Vincent de Paul Conference
In the Gospel today, Zacchaeus accepts our Lord joyfully;
and the sign of his acceptance is his open house and his
resolution to give half of his goods to the poor.
In the month of October, through
your gifts, the Society of
St. Vincent de Paul was able to bring God’s
love and mercy to families, providing help
to pay for utility and rent bills.
Thank You!

carefully hand carried from
Krakow, Poland and is a
gift from the Sisters of the
Divine Mercy.
The Legion of Mary provides Love, Fraternity, Prayer
and works for those who are in need. And we are looking
to start a Praesidium right here at St. Frances Cabrini. The
Legion of Mary is extremely well organized and
administered, taking a lead from the way the Roman
Legions were organized. But rather than be a force for
violence, Mary’s Legionnaires are all about love, discipline,
dignity and humility.
We meet EVERY WEEK without fail. Every
Legionnaire makes a report concerning the previous weeks
works. Meetings last no longer than 90 minutes, follow a set
pattern and in all that is done our #1 weapon is prayer.
The Rosary is prayed in every meeting. Study is also
accomplished. The legionnaire, no matter how long they’ve
been a member, never stops learning, reporting, praying and
studying!
At St. John Bosco this is some of what we do: 2 by 2
we go and visit the sick, bed-ridden & hospitalized and
bring Holy Communion and prayer to them. This is a great
help and benefit to Father and Deacon. Last year the Legion
of Mary from St. John Bosco with 15 active members gave
5,186 Holy Communions to Catholics in homes, nursing
homes, adult care homes and hospitals throughout the
greater Lakewood area.
To learn more, please contact Brother Stan
at 253-244-7915.
An informational meeting will be announced soon.
During this Year of Mercy it
is a special gift to remind
us to trust in Jesus and
that his Mercy is endless.
Special thanks to
Evelyn Czapiewski and
Janina Hansen
