EVENT - Terrace Park Country Club Home
Please support the tournament program –
all members are encouraged to participate
in at least two events per year.
Members:
The history of the Terrace Park Country Club golf
tournaments has been a big reason why our members enjoy
being a part of our great club. Our tournaments are specifically
designed to cater to all types of playing abilities, entertaining
family, friends, and business associates, as well as showcasing
your club in a social setting with other members and guest(s).
The Golf Shop and Green Committee have been working
hard this past off-season to prepare a full schedule of great
events with formats, menus, and activities in mind to create a
“buzz” and hope that we will encourage more of our members
to participate in tournaments.
Please take a moment to consider your goals for the
2013 golf tournament season: 1) Are you trying to reach the
top of your game and have your name engraved on one or
more of the trophies on display in the clubhouse? 2) Do you
want to provide a fun day for you and all of your guests? 3)
Would you like to meet other members? The tournament
schedule is designed to help you fulfill some or all of your goals.
The golf tournament brochure breaks down every event
with dates, formats, deadlines, etc. This will allow you to plan
your schedule accordingly, plan how you can meet your goals,
and support the golf tournaments. Sign-up sheets are posted
in the Golf Shop 30 days in advance with most deadlines being
7 days prior to the event. Members are responsible for all
entry fees in canceling after the deadline. All tournament
information in regards to pricing, formats, menu’s etc. will be
sent out in the Golf Shop Happenings at least 30 days prior to
the event.
We are looking forward to a great golfing season; please
make an effort to participate in at least two events this year!

EVENT: 2013 “The Classic” Member/Guest
DATES: Thursday, June 6th (Practice Round), Friday, June 7th
& Saturday, June 8th (Tournament)
SUMMARY: “The Classic” is the Club’s premier Men’s Member-Guest event.
If you like gourmet food ranging from Chef Jay’s large filet topped with grilled
shrimp to specialty omelet stations and hand-carved lunches - this is the
event. The food is awesome, but the format of the event is what’s really
special. Things start with a practice round Thursday afternoon where the
lowest 10 members and guests qualify to play in a Friday evening “Horse
Race”. The Horse Race is a four-hole, alternate shot, elimination event with
the three final teams playing the last hole (#18) where the hillside is filled
with spectators. Most of the field grabs their favorite beverage and follows
the four-hole Horse Race. Para-mutual betting is available for each daily
event and the Horse Race. “The Classic” is three days you and your guest will
thoroughly enjoy! On-course beverages and snacks are provided each day.
DESCRIPTION/Format:
 Thursday afternoon’s format is Net Individual and Team Net Aggregate
winners. The 10 lowest gross scores for members and guests qualify for the
Friday Horse Race. On-course contests for members and guests are planned,
plus an optional 100 yard Team Shootout is conducted after dinner.
 Friday afternoon’s format is One Net Better Ball per team with on-course
events for members and guests. The Horse Race starts shortly after the
afternoon round is completed with enough time for you to bet on the
teams to win/place/show. It is a Hoot!!
 Saturday morning’s format is a Pinehurst Scramble where both players tee
off. Then the guest hits the member’s tee shot and the member hits the
guest’s tee shot. The better of these two shots is then selected, and the
team plays a scramble format to complete the hole. HIT-SWITCHSCRAMBLE is a challenging and fun way to conclude the event. On-course
games also add to the fun.
The overall winning team is determined by the combined Net Scores from
the Friday and Saturday rounds.
Your guest will also enjoy a first-class tee gift and outstanding hospitality from
our Golf and Clubhouse staffs. Feedback from our participants supports that
“The Classic” is one of the very best Member-Guest events they have enjoyed.

EVENT: 2013 Club Championship Week

SUMMARY: Ladies Club Championship: This is an opportunity for

be awarded. This is a two day tournament (36 Holes). It’s twice the fun and

Vicky Hall – 2012 Club Champion
Men’s Club Championship: The Men’s Club Championship is designed
to determine the best men’s player each year. To become the Club
Champion you will play a qualifying round and four match play single
elimination matches. The tournament is played Thursday through Sunday
with Thursday being the qualifying round. All entrants will play an 18 hole
qualifying round and the lowest sixteen scores qualify for match play. This
qualifying score will also determine your seeding for match play. For
seeding, think of the March Madness NCAA basketball brackets. Starting on
Friday, we begin the match play single elimination rounds. If you advance
past Friday you will play 36 holes on Saturday. The winners of Saturday’s
two 18 hole matches will set up the finals on Sunday. On Sunday, the final
two players will play to determine the Club Champion.
Andy Preising – 2012 Club Champion
Format Definition: "Match play" is a competition format in which the
round is played with the goal of winning individual holes. For example, on
No. 1, you score 4 and your opponent gets a 5 - you win the hole.
Scoring is kept by comparing the holes won by each player. If each has won
the same number of holes, the match is said to be "all square”. If you have
won 4 holes and your opponent has won 3, you are said to be "1-up" while
your foe is "1-down."
Final score reflects the margin of victory and the hole at which the match
ended. If the match goes the full 18 holes, the score would be 1-up or 2-up.
If it ends before the 18th, the score would look like "3-and-2" (the winner
was 3 holes up with only two holes to play, thus ending the match early).

Steak Dinner – enjoyed on the patio and grillroom area.
Lots of prizes and raffles available.
Guests always seem to enjoy the Guest Days with the formats, food,
cocktails, and the wonderful atmosphere of the club on an event day.
When your guests take home some prizes, and they enjoyed the golf
course, the food and drink was excellent, it will be a day for them to
remember! It will also make you look like a hero!

EVENT: 2013 TPCC Hardy Gobbler Open
DATES: Saturday, November 16th, 2013
DEADLINE: Saturday, November 9th, 2013
SUMMARY: Brrrr, there is a chill in the air and the Golf season is
winding down. Or is it? Maybe there is time for one more round. Just
one more chance to get together with friends and see just how
“Hardy” you are. Bundle up, grab a warm cup of Cider and put your
skill to the test with a little twist. It’s time for the Greens Keeper to get
a little revenge! The course is set up backwards and the pins are
tucked. This 4 person scramble is designed for fun. Groups will tee off
in front of the green and play the hole backwards to the previous
green. There are lots of opportunities for miracle shots and laughs. So,
pick your group, sign up and get ready to have some fun this fall.
The Hardy Gobbler Open is our final event of the year with there being
two divisions – members can invite 3 guests to play with them or
members can sign up as an individual and member teams will be
drawn using an ABCD format. The event is always fun with the
weather conditions and playing the course in a backwards scramble
format. The Clubhouse’s famous “Hot Cider” always adds another
element to this great event.
