Reasons for not utilization
Due to late submission of the AUCs, the grants could not be
released from the ICAR in time. Thus less time is available to
utilize the grants. This has resulted into a great loss to the
University. Many important works could not be taken up due to the
surrender of the money.

The bio-control unit established in the department of Entomology and Plant Pathology under
the programme has started imparting practical training to the students about commercial
production of bio-control agents for various crop pests. Now the students have been able to
define integrated pest management and understand the importance of an economic threshold.
They have also been given the knowledge about the basic principles of field scouting and
understand the various types of bio-pesticides. Issues on importance of pre-harvest interval,
residues, re-entry interval, phytotoxicity, and pesticide resistance have also been developed.

Objectives:

(ii) To suggest effective bio-intensive IPM strategies for major pest and diseases.
(Iii) To train farmers, students and scientists about production technology of important bioAgents.

What has been its impact on capacity development among students and
iii technology generation
Already known techniques were modified for getting better production of bio-agents. An attempt was
made to improve the fecundity of rice moth, Corcyra cephalonica by adding 2-5 per cent yeast in its
diet so that these eggs may be utilized as host of Trichogramma. Corcyra culture was maintained with
standard regimes under laboratory conditions. Maize grains were thoroughly mixed with yeast
powder @ 2% by weight to enhance the fecundity. Corcyra eggs were harvested and Trichocards
were prepared. There were two species viz., Trichogramma chilonis and T. japonicum reared under
laboratory conditions and supplied to the farmers and extension workers. Bio-agents viz.
Trichoderma viride, T. harzianum and Pseudomonas fluorescens were isolated from local samples.
Out of the 744 samples, only ten isolates showed most inhibitory effect. Out of these ten isolates, only
one isolate (Isolate No 7) of Trichoderma viride showed antagonistic effects against all the pathogens
under study. The other isolates showed effective against one or two pathogens. The effective isolate
of the bio-agent was later identified as Trichoderma viride on the basis of its cultural and
morphological characters. The demonstration and production technology of bio-agents were
standardized. It was found that seed treatment with bio-agent formulation (5g/kg seed) was able to
increase the seed germination, root and shoot length and seedling vigour over untreated ones.
Culture of Corcyra was maintained under laboratory conditions.
Biointensive IPM was implemented in 22 districts of U.P. In order to develop the best effective
biointensive module in chickpea, pigeonpea and lentil, 5 such modules developed under the
scheme, were validated for major pests and diseases on farmers' fields. Care was taken to
benchmark the ETL of major pest before applying the IPM module. The pulses crops were constant
by searched for naturally occurring bioagents. The judicial insecticidal application was done in the

afternoon to protect the parasites and predators. In selection of the farmers for module
validation small farmers with less than 1 ha land were incorporated. Young educated
farmers have taken great interest in adopting the IPM modules. Apart from field study,
laboratory rearing of Helicoverpa armigera was maintained and testing of bio-pesticides
was also done. Culture of Corcyra is being maintained and the Trichogramma spp. are
ready to be applied in the field in the form of trichocards. Farmers were educated by
contacting them personally by the research persons working in the scheme to make them
aware about the ill effects of pesticides residues and importance of natural enemies in their
field.
Out of the two strains of Trichoderma tested, the polymorphism percentage was obtained
as 70.66% in case of T. longibrachiatum. This shows that there is a complete variability
within the strains of T. longibrachiatum isolated from different fields of Allahabad region.
This would enable us to develop a potential strain having competitive ability and also having
growth promoting characters and inducing resistance in plants. Under standardization of
modules, it was found that instead of going through seed treatments (four times) as stated
earlier in Module 5 could be reduced to two only i.e., Seed treatment with Trichoderma
viride @ 4 g and with Vitavax @ 2 g/ kg seed. TB8 isolate of T. longibrachiatum from Nindura
Block of Barabanki TH1 isolate of T. atroviride from Bilgram Block of Hardoi are highly
effective against Fusarium sp. It is inference that bio-agent Trichoderma viride released the
highest amount of nitrogen (6.61%) as well as protein (38.52%) as compares to other
strains of Trichoderma.
Further study will also be helpful in determining shelf life of the bio-agent. The
polymorphism percentage was obtained more than 70% in case of T. longibrachiatum while
in case of T. atroviride 79% was found. This shows that there is a complete variability within
the strains T. longibrachiatum and T. atroviride isolated from different fields of U.P. This
would enable us to develop a potential strain having competitive ability and also having
growth promoting characters and inducing resistance in plants.
The results of field trial experiments are in conformity to that of the lab experiment where
Treatment T5 (T.v. +Vitavax) followed by T2 (Vitavax) were found the best seed treatments in
enhancing the quality of the seed including reducing wilt incidence. Thus, instead of treating
seed in a row with bio-agent, fungicide, insecticide and bio-fertilizer (as stated earlier in
Module V developed by the University), seed treatment with only bio-agent (Trichoderma
viride @ 4 g/kg) and fungicide (Vitavax @ 2g / kg seed) is now recommended.
The antagonistic effect of Trichoderma viride against mycelial growth of Fusarium
oxysporum lentis shows that the maximum inhibition of mycelial growth was recorded as
58.33% with minimum radial colony growth of 10.0 mm by 34 CP and 74 L isolates, which
were isolated from soil sample of Hardoi and Auraiya districts, respectively whereas 89 CP
isolate of Unnao district was found least effective showing 29.16% inhibitions and maximum 17.0 mm average
radial growth. The antagonistic effect of Trichoderma viride against mycelial growth of F.o. f. sp. ciceri shows that the
maximum inhibition of mycelial growth was recorded as 59.25% with minimum average colony growth as 11.0 mm
by 01 PP isolate, which was isolated from soil sample of Hardoi district whereas, 117 L isolate of Sultanpur district
was found least effective showing 29.62% inhibition and maximum 19.0 mm average radial growth. The
antagonistic effect of Trichoderma viride against mycelial growth of F.o. f. sp. udum shows the maximum inhibition of
mycelial growth was recorded as 60.86% with minimum radial colony growth as 09 mm by 68L isolate, which was
isolated from soil sample of Hardoi district whereas, 109L isolate of Allahabad district was found least effective
showing 26.08% inhibition and maximum 17.0 mm radial growth.
Thirty isolates of Trichoderma viride collected from different rhizosporic soil samples against soil borne plant
pathogens. Trichoderma is a promising candidate for the biological control of Plant pathogenic fungi. Among the
three test phytopathogens, the antagonistic activity of 68 L isolate of Trichoderma viride was found highly effective
(60.86%) against Fusarium oxysporum udum followed by 01 PP isolate (59.62%) against Fusarium oxysporum
ciceri and 34 CP and 74 L isolates (58.33%) against Fusarium oxysporum lentis. Thirty strains of Trichoderma viride
isolated from pigeonpea, chickpea and lentil crop of different fields of Uttar Pradesh identified under the project and
confirmed by the ITCC, IARI, New Delhi (Accession number received) were finally deposited in NBAIM, Mau.
The study was done to evaluate various substrates being used for the preparation of bio-formulations. An increase
in the number of viable propagules up to 30 days was noted regardless of the substrates and its moisture levels. The
highest initial population of Trichoderma viride and Trichoderma atroviride were observed in sorghum grains
(132x107 cfu g-' and 123x107 cfu g-') whereas, propagule viability was low in spent compost of mushroom (11.9x107
cfu g-' and 10.7x107 cfu g-'). Neem cake + wheat flour mixture having 35% moisture has also given good results
(114.3x107 cfu g-' and 107x107 cfu g-') in both the species of Trichoderma. Molecular characterization and variability
of isolated potential bio-agents (Trichoderma sp.) based on ITS and SSR markers. Preliminary studies indicates
that the Trichoderma isolates had very good diversity and there are strong possibility to get the isolate specific
primers that will be utilized for identifying the particular Trichoderma isolates with good biological potential from the
field isolates without going the cumbersome bioassay again. The highest xylanase activity (5.5±0.01 IU/mL) was
observed at 120 hours with 1% birch wood xylan as a carbon source. In the absence of any carbon source, the bioagent (T. viride) could not produce xylanase enzyme.

Fifty-three (53) training programmes on different aspects were organized.

Academic sessions made regular by giving special attention to timely examinations and declaring results in
the shortest period and putting academic regulations in place.
Orientation programme for the new students of different
course programmes were organized during July itself with
the objective to acquaint the fresher with the system of
teaching, evaluation, specialties of undergraduate
curriculum, academic and disciplinary rules, regulations
and hostel life.
Forty-one (41) scientists attended international and five hundred and two (502) scientists attended
national seminar/ symposia/ workshops during the period at different places under faculty
competence programme.
Two hundred eighty-seven (287) scientists/ faculty members learned newer scientific techniques and
courses through refresher courses/ winter/ summer school organized at different parts of the country
under faculty competence programme.
Library facilities has aslo been improved. It has been automated. The status of teaching and research
has been enhanced through availability of latest literatures. Library updates knowledge bank of
readers. Central library is fulfilling all the requirements needed for students and researchers of the
university. It has well developed infrastructure with all essential section i.e. circulation, technical,
processing, periodicals, books and computer information centre etc. Library is also supported with
ERNET connectivity. It has online facilities for search of literature available in the library.
After adoption of new UG course curricula in Agriculture,
the University has re-modeled its RAWE programme.
ICAR recommended PG Curricula implemented in all
courses.
Practical manuals have been made and distributed to the
students well in time.
Extra Mural lectures were delivered by internationally
renowned scientists of the country and abroad for the
benefot of the faculty and the students.
A record number of 207 students have been selected to
different organizations by the Directorate of Placement
during this period.

The scheme has contributed in procurement of sophisticated equipments, renovation and modernization of
laboratories and improving professional competence of faculty: 100% faculty is computer literate. Audio visual aids
(OHP) and internet are used as curricular delivery tools.
A Central Instrumentation Laboratory established in the main campus has sophisticated instruments and presently
used by the post graduate students of facility of Agriculture and Home Science for their projects.
The scheme helped in the human resource generation. Both teachers and students have been benefited with the
above scheme. The human resource development will go a long way in meeting the manpower requirement in R & D
activities. The research activities have been instrumented in standardizing the agro techniques. The research work
concerns mainly production, protection as well as processing and value addition of crops. The practical training has
been given to the students have started showing its results. Passed out students are placed well in Govt., Semi-Govt.,
Private sectors in different dignified positions.
There was finger counted staff in the said period due to which it was difficult to do justice with fare execution of
educational work at different levels of studies. There has also been paucity of funds which adversely affected the
smooth running of educational activities. The purchase and repair of equipments, machinery, pesticides, fertilizers,
chemicals etc. important for smooth conducting of practical classes and maintenance of planting material have helped
in proper conduction of the practical.
The recent literatures are provided through the modern services and facilities by Computerization and proper LAN
Connectivity. Library as well as internet facilities made a significant contribution in the research activities of the
students. Students can gather more information regarding their research problems pertaining literature. Thus, students
and teachers can conduct the research work of global standard and may get a significant participation in the scientific
gathering.

New Programmes initiated
As per recommendations of the ICAR IV Deans Committee, the academic regulations and course curricula for
undergraduate was implemented during 2007-08 academic session with adoption of RAWE Model II under which
students during VII Semester were attached to different KVKs of the University as a part of the village attachment
programme. This has enabled the students to learn crop husbandry, plant protection etc. more sincerely.
Six semesters coursework, one semester RAWEP and one semester Experiential Learning courses for
entrepreneurship development have been implemented.
In the electives, students have flexibility to choose courses. These courses have higher practical exercises for skill
updation. The proportion of theory and practical is nearly 50:50
Adequate expertise for agri-clinic embedded.
Course curricula reoriented to develop needed knowledge skills, entrepreneurial mindset of the student to take up self
employment
Three non-credit courses viz., Comprehension and Developing Communication Skills in English and NSS/ NCC /
Physical Education are included.
Under Experiential Learning programme, the University has provided specialization in 4 areas (Crop Production, Crop
Protection, Commercial Agriculture and Horticulture) keeping in view the facilities available and the need.
Introduced few new courses like Introductory Agriculture, Renewable Energy, Organic farming, Biotechnology,
Agribusiness, Project Development Appraisal and Monitoring and Entrepreneurship Development.

Impact
Renovation of labs including class room has provided students the congenial environment for smooth conduction of
classes and practicals. Renovation was also useful in improving basic civic amenities including condition of the hostels,
guest houses and messes.
New and sophisticated equipments purchased under the programme enabling the students to go for advance research
especially at PG level.
Manuals of most of the courses have been prepared. Useful help is obtained in proper conduction of practicals.
Under faculty competence programme, faculty have been exposed to learn newer things and they are updating their
skill and knowledge.
AMC of equipments helped in keeping the eqipments in working order.
Every year students are being sent on study/ educational tours regularly. This is providing them a chance to learn in
more practical way.
Students' amenities have definitely been improved. For better placement of students, Career Counselling Fair was
organized at the University campus.
Faculty members are also being provided the required instructional material including models essential for imparting
teaching.
A series of extra mural lectures have been organized every year. This has helped the faculty members in increasing their
knowledge in new and emerging areas.
Education Technology Cell has been strengthened, which is supposed one of the best labs in the country. One SMART
class room has also been developed with power backup and ultra modern facilities.
Private participation in research and educational programmes was introduced with the following organizations.

'Development and Strengthening of
Agricultural Higher Education '
in above achievements
laboratories and improving professional competence of faculty: 100% faculty is computer literate. Audio visual aids
(OHP) and internet are used as curricular delivery tools.
A Central Instrumentation Laboratory has been established in the main campus of University. The CIL has
sophisticated instruments and presently used by the post graduate students of facility of Agriculture for their projects.
The scheme helped in the human resource generation. Both teachers and students have been benefited with the
above scheme. The human resource development will go a long way in meeting the manpower requirement in R & D
activities. The research activities have been instrumented in standardizing the agro techniques. The research work
concerns mainly production, protection as well as processing and value addition of crops. The practical training has
been given to the students have started showing its results. Passed out students are placed well in Govt., Semi-Govt.,
Private sectors in different dignified positions.
There was finger counted staff in the said period due to which it was difficult to do justice with fare execution of
educational work at different levels of studies. There has also been paucity of funds which adversely affected the
smooth running of educational activities. The purchase and repair of equipments, machinery, pesticides, fertilizers,
chemicals etc. important for smooth conducting of practical classes and maintenance of planting material have
helped in proper conduction of the practicals.
The recent literature is provided through the modern services and facilities by Computerization and proper LAN
students. Students can gather more information regarding their research problems pertaining literature. Thus,
students and teachers can conduct the research work of global standard and may get a significant participation in the
scientific gathering.
Renovated and strengthened labs may facilitate and provide opportunity for the conduct of quality research work.
A.V. aids contingency for UG/PG labs and computer and internet facilities have made a significant impact on the
quality of teaching as well as academic standards of students.
The scheme has also contributed a lot in faculty improvements. Many faculty members attended seminar, symposia
and educational trainings through which faculty members aware with the recent developments in research and
education.
Many new books have been purchased with the funds of this scheme and book club is being started and improving
the subject knowledge of staff members and students with the collection of recent books.

purchased.
7 Whether LAN established & functional
All the department of College of Agriculture are well connected through Fibre /RF link/ CAT-5 media and working properly.
The internet connectivity is being provided in the college through 1 Mbps ERNET leased line except AH & Dairy and
Vegetable Science depts. and will be connected during current financial year through RF link.

10 (a) Action plan for 2012-13 for higher education
The HRD through undergraduate curricula will have a shift in priority on resource cum technology
management coupled with managerial skills for sustainable production of crops, vegetables, fruits etc. with
emphasis on quality improvement, high production, diversification, integrated pest management,
integrated nutrient management and post harvest management technologies. The topical areas of
agricultural sciences at postgraduate level will also be given priority for offering advance courses to the
students to enrich their knowledge through basic and applied research to cater to the needs of the public
and private organizations.
Training and upgradation of teachers will get priority for their counter contribution in teaching and research.
Among research priorities thrust will be on crop improvement through heterosis breeding, conventional
breeding, genetic transformation, germplasm collection and evaluation for high production, quality
improvement, biotic and abiotic stresses. Seed production and quality improvement will be another thrust
area for production of low cost hybrid seeds of crops, vegetables and other horticultural crops.

Research on horticultural crops
will have priority on development of micro propagation techniques for

breeding of demand driven varieties of fruits, flowers, vegetables, aromatic plants etc. with high production potential,
better quality, better self-life and other commodity specific quality standards. The emphasis on research for
protected horticulture will also be given to ensure high production with desired quality and to regulate production as
well as pest and disease management. Similarly, advance techniques like remote sensing and GIS will be used for
generation of data base and assessment of soil, water, climate and crop resources.
Among other futuristic research areas, integrated disease management modules, integrated pest management
modules, integrated weed management, integrated nutrient management, crop residue management, post harvest
management, crop modelling and simulation techniques for important cropping systems, disease and pest
forecasting modules, organic farming and bio-fertilizer management and application of biotechnologies for
breeding, pest and disease control will be given emphasis. Research on water resource management will be
another priority area to suggest water and nutrient use efficiency in different crops. Rain water management under
different agro ecosystems, on-farm water management and water requirement of horticultural crops under microirrigation system are the other research priorities of this college.
Under forestry, research priority will be given to management of different agro-forestry systems including pest and
disease management, water management, commercial use and cost benefit analysis. Research backup will also be
provided for mushroom species, sericulture, and beekeeping, medicinal and aromatic plants.
Some of the important areas where the emphasis has to be given are summarized belowBuilding excellence in specific strategic and newer areas like biotechnology, genetic engineering, post
harvest technology, food processing in education and research through Niche Areas of Excellence.

Most erratic power supply.
Shortage of Technical staff (Experts) in information technology.
Some laboratories are very old and spacious. Their electricity and water supply lines are broken and
badly damaged. Under such conditions renovation and strengthening requires more funds for modern
infrastructure to the level of global standard.
All the works of renovation and strengthening is carried out by the Govt. machinery which takes more
time to fulfill the norms and conditions of Govt. rules. There may be a no. of constraints in managing the
materials to a required standard.
New and revised courses recommended by the ICAR for UG and PG require invariable advance and
specialized training of faculty at least once a year at specialized Institutes/Universities.
International Journals of sufficient number of Societies for all the departments are not in sufficient
number due to less release by the ICAR.
Support to examination cell in not meeting the actual requirement.
Support to Education Technology Cell requires more money to evolve more sophisticated and latest
information technology equipments.
More funds are required in students study tours and students amenities.

Part A : Infra-structure Development
1 Achievements made in Extension, Teaching and Research
Academic sessions made regular by giving special attention to timely examinations and declaring results in the
shortest period and putting academic regulations in place.
Orientation programme for the new students of different course programmes were organized during August with the
objective to acquaint the fresher with the system of teaching, evaluation, specialties of undergraduate curriculum,
academic and disciplinary rules, regulations and hostel life.
Practical manuals for all the courses of the B.Sc. Home Science has been made and distributed to the students well in
time.
Forty-two (42) girl students have been selected to different institutions/ organizations through Campus interview by
the Directorate of Placement during this period.
Four training programmes on different aspects were organized.
ICAR recommended revised PG Curricula implemented along with academic regulations.
RAWE progremme is an important and compulsory component at UG
(Home Science) level which is regularly offered to B.Sc. (H.Sc.)
students of VII semester for a period of six months. After adoption of
new UG course curricula in Home Science, the University has remodelled its RAWE programme. Under the programme students used
to visit near by villages to associate themselves with rural women and
farmers to understand, study and analyze their problems related to
resource management (at home and farms both), child care, hygiene
and house keeping etc.
During 2009-10, students selected 4-5 villages and imparted training
and demonstration to rural women in innovative drudgery reducing
techniques, tools and raw materials; preparation of food item such as
papad, laddu, pannier, gift-covers, embroidery, stitching, designer
candles, diyas, decorated pottery items etc. to promote women
empowerment through resource generation.
During 2010-11, similar activities were also organized at Singhpur,
Bidhuna, Hridaypur and Ruma Villages under RAWE programme.
This year RAWE students selected four villages to impart training and
demonstration of various resource generating activities.
NSS programme is also regularly being organized by the students of
undergraduates.
Undergraduate students were exposed to Internship/ Industrial
attachment at other recognized Institutions/ Industries for three months
duration to develop professional skills in respective areas from the
current academic session (2011-12).
Food Science and Nutrition were attached to Govt. hospitals and other
reputed hospitals to achieve experience in diet counselling and
formulation for health conscious persons and patients suffering form
various diseases.
Textiles and Clothing students were attached to related Institutions/
textile mills/ industries to get professional experience in fibre
processing and textile dyeing and designing etc.
Human Development departments were attached to spastic centers,
medical college and nursery schools to gain experience in the
measurement of psycho analysis of spastics, mentally retarded and
other abnormal children.
In Family Resource Management, students were attached to top class
hotels of the city to learn experience in interior designing, house
keeping and management.
The students of Extension Education and Communication
Management were offered training at print and electronic media
agencies and multimedia labs to get expertise in communication
management.
Inter-institutional collaboration in teaching, thesis work, in plant training
in certain special areas such as child and women welfare institutions,
medical college, hospital, spastic enters, textile institute/mill and
multimedia, electronic, print media agencies and other related
organizations where expertise relevant to these disciplines are
available.
Sixty low cost recipe of bajra, maize and groundnut for women has
been developed under postgraduate programme at the Department of
Extension Education & Communication Management.

As per the ICAR IV Deans Committee recommendations, the academic regulations and course curricula for
undergraduate was implemented during 2007-08 academic session with adoption of Internship/ Industrial
attachment at other recognized Institutions/ Industries for three months duration from the current academic session
(2011-12) to develop professional skills in respective areas.
Renovation of labs including class room has provided students the congenial environment for smooth conduction of
classes and practicals. Renovation was also useful in improving basic civic amenities including condition of the
hostels, guest houses and messes.
New and sophisticated equipments purchased under the programme enabling the students to go for advance
research especially at PG level.
Manuals of most of the courses have been prepared. Useful help is obtained in proper conduction of practicals.

New courses recommended by the ICAR in basic courses namely, personality development and women in
agriculture have been added.
Professional Electives of 2 years with focus on skill and entrepreneurship development.
Industrial attachment for one semester in all elective subjects has been made accessible.
Supporting courses across the faculty and freedom to choose have been introduced.
Increase in the duration of skill oriented courses to two years with more weightage on experiential learning
for entrepreneurship focus. Under professional courses emphasis has been given on skill development and
enterprise management.
New courses under various packages are like convenience and health foods, intervention programmes for
developmentally challenged children, infant stimulation programmes, fashion merchandising, apparel
industry management, knitting technology, functional interiors for special needs etc. have been introduced.
A basic course of Personality Development has been added to strengthen various personality dimensions
of the student.
Another new course on Women in Agriculture has been introduced in common courses to sensitize
students about role of rural women, their problems and empowerment.
The curriculum is common for first two years for all the students, while for next two years professional
courses are offered including one semester in-plant training and industrial attachment.
Impact
laboratories and improving professional competence of faculty: 100% faculty is computer literate. Audio visual
aids (OHP) and internet are used as curricular delivery tools.
A Central Instrumentation Laboratory has been strengthened in the main campus of University. The CIL has
sophisticated instruments and presently used by the post graduate students of faculty of Home Science for their
projects.
The scheme helped in the human resource generation. Both teachers and students have been benefited with
the above scheme. The human resource development will go a long way in meeting the manpower requirement
in R & D activities. The research activities have been instrumented in standardizing the agro techniques. The
research work concerns mainly production, protection as well as processing and value addition of crops. The
practical training has been given to the students have started showing its results. Passed out students are
placed well in Govt., Semi-Govt., Private sectors in different dignified positions.
The purchase and repair of equipment, important for smooth conducting of practical classes have helped in
proper conduction of the practicals.
The recent literatures are provided through the modern services and facilities by Computerization and proper
LAN Connectivity. Library as well as internet facilities made a significant contribution in the research activities of
the students. Students can gather more information regarding their research problems pertaining literature.
Thus, students and teachers can conduct the research work of global standard and may get a significant
participation in the scientific gathering.
Renovated and strengthened labs may facilitate and provide opportunity for the conduct of quality research
work.

Facilities provided in hostels and play ground may enhance the healthy environment for academic
attainments.
A.V. aids contingency for UG/PG labs and computer and internet facilities have made a significant impact
on the quality of teaching as well as academic standards of students.
The scheme has also contributed a lot in faculty improvements. Many faculty members attended seminar,
symposia & educational trainings through which faculty members aware with the recent developments in
research and education.
Many new books have been purchased with the funds of this scheme and book club is being started and
improving the subject knowledge of staff members and students with the collection of recent books.

The college will reorganize and reorient its courses to provide equal opportunities for male and female
students in its HRD programmes and to utilize their services as professionals in the society or through selfemployment. It will also reorient its laboratories to ensure professional competence among students. Under its
research programme priorities will be focused on women employment, development of support systems for
working women and operational research on finding self-employment opportunities for them including
technology development for low -cost food processing, child management, natural dyes and fabrics, etc.

Laboratories are old. The electricity and water supply lines are broken and damaged. Under such conditions
renovation and strengthening requires more funds for modern infrastructure to the level of national

Part A : Infra-structure Development
1 Achievements made in agricultural education viz-a-viz research and extension
Academic sessions made regular by giving special attention to timely examinations and declaring results in the
shortest period and putting academic regulations in place.
Orientation programme for the new students of different course programmes were organized during August with the
objective to acquaint the fresher with the system of teaching, evaluation, specialties of undergraduate curriculum,
academic and disciplinary rules, regulations and hostel life.
Practical manuals for all the courses of the B.Sc. Home Science has been made and distributed to the students well in
time.
ICAR recommended revised UG Curricula implemented along with academic regulations.
Course delivery system has been improved by providing information technology facilities.
Fourteen (14) scientists have attended International Seminar/ Symposia and forty-one (41) scientists/ teachers have
attended national seminar/ symposia/ workshops/ trainings organized during the period at different places under
faculty competence programme.
Nine (9) scientists have attended training programmes including Summer and Winter School at different places of the
country for upgrading their knowledge.
Library facilities have also been strengthened.
Right from the inception of the college from 1994 till now a total 791 students have been awarded B.Tech, degree in
different branch of engineering i.e. Agrill Engg. (414), Electronics & Communication Engg. (154), Computer Science
& Engg. (121) and Mechanical Engg (102).
These passed out students have brought laurels to college of the university by keeping the college high at primier

institute/RND institute like BARC, ISRO, NTPC, GAIL, Indian Navy, Army Air Force, Nationalized bank and IIT's etc.
Even the passed out students have proved their worth for higher eudcation abroad tourism countries namely US,
Greenland, Bangkok & Canada.
Many of passed out students have set bench mark by getting through JRF exam at National level and bringing the
college at top among all.
The final & Pre-final year students have also scored GATE percentile and stood at 5th position.
Around one dozen passed out students have opted teaching at private and Govt. institute at the level of Asstt.
Prof./Senior Asstt. Professor/ Director-Professor.
During the course of the college programme, students have designed and developed many live project models,
which have not only encouraged the following students but also strengthened the laboratories equipments/
apparatus/ live models.
130 projects theoretical/ practical have been submitted by the students of all 4 branches during last five year.
University is organizing regularly Kisan Mela twice a year at Kanpur to promote teaching; research and extension
activities where in faculty of Technology, Etawah have always mark their position among other college of the
University. In addition, the College is organizing on/off campus Kisan gostthi/Vichar gosthi/Seminar with the help of in
camped KVK, Krishi Vibhag and District administration regularly and also the scheme of state Govt./ ICAR/
UPDASP/ UPCAR.

The changes in the course curriculum have been made to make graduates more suitable for private
enterprises and entrepreneurship under the changing agro-economic scenario. The specific changes have
been as follows
The new course curriculum comprises of fixed course work of 136-credit load for the first three years; and
in the seventh semester, a project of six credit hours, seminar (one credit hour) and a minimum of 15 credit
hours for the Cafeteria Courses.

6 Contribution of Council's scheme entitled 'Development and Strengthening of
Agricultural Higher Education' in above
achievements
The scheme has contributed in procurement of sophisticated equipments and improving professional
competence of faculty.
100% faculty is computer literate now.
Audio visual aids (OHP) and internet are used as curricular delivery tools.
The scheme helped in the human resource generation. Both teachers and students have been benefited with
the above scheme. The human resource development will go a long way in meeting the manpower requirement
in R & D activities. The research activities have been instrumented in standardizing the techniques.
The practical training has been given to the students have started showing its results. Passed out students are
placed well in Govt., Semi-Govt., Private sectors in different dignified positions.
There has also been paucity of funds which adversely affected the smooth running of educational activities. The
purchase and repair of equipments, machinery etc. important for smooth conducting of practical classes has
helped in proper conduction of the practical.
The recent literature is provided through the modern services and facilities by computerization and proper LAN
students. Students can gather more information regarding their research problems pertaining literature. Thus,
students and teachers can conduct the research work of global standard and may get a significant participation
in the scientific gathering.
A.V. aids contingency for undergraduate labs and computer and internet facilities have made a significant
impact on the quality of teaching as well as academic standards of students.
The scheme has also contributed a lot in faculty improvements. Many faculty members attended seminar,
symposia & educational trainings through which faculty members aware with the recent developments in
research and education.
Many new books have been purchased with the funds of this scheme and book club is being started and
improving the subject knowledge of staff members and students with the collection of recent books.
Manuals, transparencies, L.C.D. are used to improve the teaching quality.
The College of Agriculture Engineering & Technology is well connected through LAN. In the college LAN is
working in Administrative Block, Library and Department of Mechanical Engineering, Computer LAB 1 &
LAB 2.

During XII five year plan the emphasis would be given on Filling of faculty positions after obtaining the permission from U.P. Govt., which is a very important
issue to run the faculty.
Approval from board of management would be obtained to start the M. Tech. programmes in
Agricultural Engineering, and during this plan, the higher studies programme will be started soon.
To start education in the newly sanctioned Colleges of Dairy Technology and Fisheries Sciences. The
construction work of these college building has already been completed.
Postgraduate programmes in computer science i.e. MCA and in Business Administration in MBA is
under consideration. The formal approval for the said courses has already been obtained from UP
Government.
To strengthen the advance centre for research, education and training in ago industrial enterprises and
agri-business management technology.

Shortage of Technical staff (Experts) in Agricultural Engineering.
Laboratories need to be strengthened. This requires more funds for modern equipments to the level of
global standard.
All the works of renovation and strengthening is carried out by the Govt. machinery which takes more
time to fulfill the norms and conditions of Govt. rules. There may be a no. of constraints in managing the
materials to a required standard.
Advanced training programme id required for teachers at least once a year in different advanced
training programmes organized by different Institutes/Universities.
Support to examination cell in not meeting the actual requirement.
Support to Education Technology Cell requires more money to evolve more sophisticated and latest
information technology equipments.
More funds are required in students study tours and students amenities.
