Your credit score plays a major factor in the quality of everyday life. It can influence the interest rate you pay on loans or

the cost of auto insurance and even an employer’s choice to
hire you (in some cases).
Know where you stand! Call 314-534-7610 to schedule a
Credit Check-Up at any of our full-service branches.
*Available during new account opening, loan applications and scheduled credit reviews. Membership rules apply.
**A Credit Check-Up generates a hard hit inquiry on your credit bureau, which may impact
your credit score.

The St. Louis Community Credit Union Gateway Branch
continues to make an exceptional impact in the community,
and we’ve been recognized once again for our giveback!
The Gateway Branch has been named one of the 2016
Developments of the Year by the St. Louis Development
Corporation. This award recognizes significant contributions to economic development in the City of St. Louis. We
received our award at the 2016 Mayor’s Business Celebration Luncheon with Mayor Francis Slay on September 30.
Since opening in March, the Gateway Branch has delivered nearly $540,000 in loans and more than 600 new
accounts, in addition to tens of thousands of transactions
at our expanded-service drive-up lanes, convenient ATMs
and Interactive Teller Solution (ITS) machines. In addition
to this award, the Gateway Branch was the focus of recent
stories by the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, the St. Louis American and St. Louis Public Radio.
The neighborhood is thrilled to have the Gateway Branch.
Allison Carson, owner of the AAA Fish House next door to
Gateway, says the branch is great “for the senior citizens
to be able to walk to it,” since many neighborhood residents are seniors who do not drive. “They’ve got great
customer service,” adds Allison, who was a Gateway Bank
customer and is now an SLCCU member. “They do an excellent job. I hear nothing but good things about it.”
We’re proud to give back to North St. Louis through this
important new branch and others like it!
This activity is financed in part through an allocation of Community Development Block
Grant funds from the Department of Housing and Urban Development and the City of St.
Louis’ Community Development Administration.
FALL 2016
Ask the Expert with Meghan G.
Question: How do I stay motivated to
save money and get my finances on
track?
Answer: A big part of creating any
goal is having motivation. What motivates you about what you are going
to do?
My reason for coming to work is definitely much more than a paycheck.
It’s the client thanking me for encouraging her to do something she would
have otherwise avoided, and the client
who is approved for a home loan after
working for months to improve his
credit. All of my clients have motivation to improve themselves financially. Like them, you need to find your
motivation.
Thinking about a general goal is not
enough. Dig deep. What is achieving
that goal really going to do for you?
In both of the examples I used, the
motivation was their family — financial security for their loved ones and
providing a place that their children
can call their own. When you find that
motivation, it’s time to get to work.
Own what you are doing. Tell yourself
that you can and will achieve it. Create
a plan, and remind yourself and others
what you are working toward. This is
how you can help keep yourself on
track.
If you need a partner for accountability along the way, know that the team
of financial coaches at Prosperity
Connection® will support you while
keeping your motivation as a top
priority.

*Kelley Blue Book Trade-In Values used by Enterprise are obtained
from ©2016 Kelley Blue Book Co.’s website KBB.com. Kelley Blue
Book Trade-In Value is based on accurate condition rating and mileage of vehicle. Accurately appraising the condition of the vehicle is
an important aspect of determining its Kelley Blue Book Trade-In
Value. Kelley Blue Book valuation adjustments for vehicle mileage
disproportionate to the age of the vehicle may be capped by Enterprise Car Sales at 20% of the vehicle’s base value. If a Kelley Blue
Book Trade-In Value is not available for customer’s vehicle, Enterprise will provide a fair and competitive value for customer’s vehicle. Additional trade-in value of $500 is available only on passenger
vehicles and light duty trucks with a Kelley Blue Book Trade-In Value and when a vehicle is purchased from Enterprise. Customer is
responsible to any extent vehicle pay-off exceeds Enterprise offer.
Customer must provide required proof of ownership/registration
and all other necessary paperwork to transfer title. Offer only valid
on one trade-in for each Enterprise vehicle purchase. Restrictions
apply. For details, see an Enterprise Car Sales Manager. Offer void
where prohibited including AK, HI, KY, LA, MD, NE, NM, OK, OR, SC,
TX, VA and Washington D.C. Offer valid October 1 – October 31,
2016. No cash advances. Used vehicles were previously part of Enterprise short-term rental and/or lease fleet or purchased by Enterprise from other sources including auto auctions, with previous use
possibly short-term rental, lease or other. The “e” logo, Enterprise,

Quick Tips for a Better Financial Life
Check your credit before you borrow. When it’s time to buy a car, the
first thing you should do is pull your credit report. The better your credit,
the lower your interest rate on your car loan, and the lower your monthly
payment will be. Our Credit Check-Up service (see page 1) is the perfect
place to start on the road to a car loan! (Source: WiseBread.com).
Use direct deposit. By taking advantage of direct deposit, you can
help ensure that funds hit your account in a timely manner. This service
is free and can prevent you from scrambling to make it into your local
Credit Union branch before an urgent bill does.
Certain project costs have been underwritten by the Missouri Department of Economic Development, Neighborhood Assistance Program. These educational activities are financed (in part) through an allocation of Community Development Block Grant funds from the
Department of Housing and Urban Development and the City of St. Louis’ Community Development Administration.
