The Man Who Knew Infinity
Drama/Biopic (109mins) (12a)
Starring: Jeremy Irons, Dev Patel, Stephen Fry, Toby Jones, Jeremy Northam, Kevin McNally
Directed by: Matt Brown
This film is based on the untold, true story of Srinivasa Ramamujan, one of
the great minds of his generation. He was a
self-taught mathematician who was admitted
to Trinity College, Cambridge, just before the
First World War.
His genius for mathematics took him from the
slums of Madras to working with theorist G H
Hardy, who initially thought that his approach was
a hoax. Spurred on by his mentor, Ramamujan
overcame racism and the rigidity of academia to
revolutionise the field with his startling theorems,
which he attributed to divine inspiration.
