What Are the Modifica_ons & Can I Avoid Them? The charts on the following page show the es9mated difficulty in modifying the cartridge, together with the availability of “pre-‐modified” cartridges. Reseong Canon Cartridges Refilling Canon Pro 9500 & Pro 10 Cartridges Modifying & Refilling Canon Pro 9000 & Pro 100 Cartridges Modifying & Refilling Epson R1900/2400/2880 Cartridges Modifying & Refilling Epson R3800/3880 Cartridges FAQs and Other Concerns Can I use OEM & refilled cartridges in the same printer? While it is generally not recommended, I have done so without any apparent problems. Can I mix OEM and non-‐OEM inks in the same cartridge? Same answer as above – but I have done it when the cartridge was “empty” according to the printer driver. Don’t try this with Epson cartridges. What about ICC profiles? Precision Colors offers ICC profiles for most Canon & Epson printers when used with a variety of papers. FAQs and Other Concerns -‐ cont’d If I don’t want to fool with modifying cartridges, can I buy them already modified and ready to go? “Yes” for most of the cartridges we’ve discussed. What about suppliers other than “Precision Colors”? The ones I’ve seen are much more expensive and do not offer a complete line of inks, parMcularly pigment inks. How good are these “aser market” inks ? I’ve not seen any empirical test data. However, every print I’ve made in the last three years has used these inks. A Special Offer I will personally help anyone get set up to refill his own cartridges – including ordering the proper kit, modifying cartridges if necessary, using the reseZer and filling the cartridges.
