MODERATED DISCUSSION
Along with celebration of
World Population Day
Grade 9 and 10 were assigned the ‘Hazards of Overpopulation’. The
atmosphere was energised as each speaker with great enthusiasm expressed their views on the causes and effects os overpopulation. For
example lack of moral values, family planning and advanced medical
treatments. this leads to overpopulation which further leads to depletion of resources. This can affect the future generation. Our judges - Ms
Precilla and Ms Loyala were in dilemma to choose the best. After a long
discussion, Topaz House won the first place. This was a great start of the
week and ahead we still have competitions and all the houses will have
equal chance to win.
Ms. Megha Soni On July 11- World Population Day, the secondary section of RBKIS organised ‘Moderate Speech Competition’ among the four
houses - Emerald, Amethyst, Topaz and Carnelian Students

Spell Bee competition
The Spell Bee competition was held in our school
with RBK claps and it was held during the literary
week. However Ms Salima gave a brief description
about the competition and we started well. The first
round was taken over by Ms Bindu. Students had to
spell words from ‘simple’ to ‘complex’.
Emerald and Amethyst house scored the highest in
first round and were thrilled. For the second round,
it was spelling ‘foreign languages’, this round was
conducted by Ms Paromita. The Carnelian house,
somehow managed to score ten points. In the third
round, students were made to spell ‘scientific’ words,
and this round by conducted by Ms. Salima.
Finally, Emerald house scored forty, Carnelian house
scored thirty five, Amethyst and Topaz scored thirty. Emerald house emerged the winner. We hope
to witness many more exciting competitions like
this !

Jingle all the way
As
the literary week proceeded, after the
‘Moderated Discussion’ and the ‘Spell Bee’, there
arrived the last phase of ‘Jingle all the way’,
where participants had illustrated their potential
to ceaseless limits. In this competition students
had to make effective and persuasive advertisements for the products they choose. The students demonstrated in a very poetic manner.
They were competent in overall view. Although
initially divided into two sections depending on
the ages, the final results were worthier. Grade 6
to Grade 8 has written some mesmerising
rhymes, which was performed with dialogue and
dance. The winner in this round had to be the
‘Carnelian House’. With some famous song forms
as a base, Grade 9 and Grade 10 left the audience
jaw-dropping and stunned. In this section was
‘Emerald House’ who had ‘Disco Chopper’ as the
product won; it was a very catchy cliché. There
was also a surprise ‘timed’ round for the audience to express themselves as well, who too
astounded our minds. ‘Carnelian House’, which
had more overall points than any other house,
was the winner!

Caption Making Competition
The end of the literary week in RBK International school ended
with the caption making competition. The topic was on the
‘hazards of over population’. This was an inter-house competition among the four houses { Carnelian, Emerald, Topaz and Amethyst }. Furthermore the competition was arranged Grade wise.
In a short span of time participants had come up with mind
blowing and eye opening quotes and phrases. Some of the highlights include from Carnelian house by grade IX-A which was
“We control the growth of every other species except our own”.
In a nutshell the literary week ended with a blast from the students themselves.

Factory Visit
Excited and curious students of Grade X assembled in the
school for their first factory visit to Poly Products, a factory
situated in Vasai which is a leading manufacturer and supplier
of Injection Moulded Engineering Plastic Components for various Industries. The objective of the visit was to get first hand
experience on how inventories are held, how is the production process carried out and how technology influences the
production process.
Upon reaching, we were received by an engineer-in charge of
the production who gave us a brief introduction of the factory. Then he took us around from one section to the next and
explained the process involved in making of the impellers. We
spent the first part of their visit asking questions to the workers of the factory, while noting down all the details in a paper.
Most of the production was carried out by automated machines whereas the packaging of the product was done by
semi-skilled workers.
This factory visit helped to bridge the gap between classroom
and the real field world. Students were benefited to learn
about “real life” examples of business and management. Altogether, it was an informative, interesting and successful visit.

Factory Visit
The grade 10 students of RBKIS visited the Poly-products industry located in Vasai(E) on 5 July 2016. Polymer is a topic included in their
curriculum. The main objective of the field trip was to enhance our
learning by getting first hand experience on how polymers are made in
the industry.
Various machines stood in the brightly lit room accompanied by workers who performed few of the manual tasks. Further information was
provided on the raw material- Noryl, used for the manufacture of impellers. Following, the fairly-recyclable 'Engineering Plastics' were introduced, which is used for building parts of water pumps. After that
the students were given a brief explanation of the application of synthesis of polymers as well as the demand and supply of plastics in the
industry. Besides, the manual tasks along with safety measures were
demonstrated too. We science students had an educational insight on
the production of polymers used for the functioning of underground
water-pumps
Moreover, a transdisciplinary approach using principles of physics, provided us with an insight into the use of ultrasonic waves for dyemaking and mould-making. We gained a tremendous insight on plastic
products as well as saw the machinery used.along with that, we had a
clear idea on polymer production which will help us in future for the
study of organic chemistry. All in all, it was a great learning experience
for all of us.

The weather is dark and cold
The wind is blowing

And enjoy the rain
And these are the moments
Which I cherish a lot
I feel very sad
When clouds depart
I wave them goodbye
And hope that next year
Rain will come again
When the rain comes
I enjoy a lot

English Club Review
Secondary
Not long ago, the students of the ever so productive language club shared an emotional, heart-squeezing moment in life. The trio of language teachers Ms.Prescilla,
Ms. Loyala and Ms. Renu wisely chose a topic loved dearly by many – „ Music‟ (lullabies) to be specific.
The students were divided into groups . Each one having to create a power-point
presentation regarding their cob-webbed childhood memories. To spruce it up a
bit, each slide had a melodious piece of music attached to it. Though divided into
groups, the students acted as one body, enthusiastic to the core. The exciting part
is yet to come. The groups had a name allotted to themselves; all of them catchy
and sure to add a pinch of exhilaration. Take for example “The Tiger Warriors”
they were for sure, a sight to see, filled with confidence and chests puffed up with
pride. “The Secret Seven” although not sounding original, were sure to leave us
amazed with their empathy skills.
Overall it was lovely to see tears of tenderness welling up in the children‟s eyes.
Glints of memories, lost in thought faces, reminiscing the good old days. Supposedly, not a bad way to start a new week, a new day with a good dose of EQ!

The investiture ceremony of RBK INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL was much
disciplined. We voted by secret ballot system. Our Teachers helped us in
the elections. It was real elections. Everyone was very happy and satisfied with the results. They pride on themselves that they chose capable
and efficient leaders for themselves.
Our Honourable and Respected principle Mrs. SAGRIKA BHATTIA gave an
inspiring speech too. The council members promised us to encourage &
maintain sanitation, discipline etc in the school.

INVESTITURE CEREMONY
“If serving is below you, Leadership is beyond you…”
The event itself was a grand one. In the presence of the parents and
under the guidance of the teachers, the occasion started with a prayer
song sung by Mst. Trevon and Mst. Saahil The ceremony involved the
elected candidates taking an oath of responsibility that would be their
vision for leadership throughout their tenure. This was followed by the
adornment of badges and position onto the students by our management representative Mrs Viciny Velappan. This moment was the heart
of the event since the spark of content and pride in each parent’s eyes
was evident. With each step more fascinating than the last, the program was brought to a jovial and enthusiastic end by our 9th graders
singing beautifully “We are the light” . We hope that our student council for 2016-17 lives up to our expectations since they are chosen by
our very own students’ collective vote.

INVESTITURE CEREMONY
RBKIS celebrated its 1st event, the Investiture Ceremony, with immense
glory and pride.
The event was initiated by our Honourable Principal Mrs. Sagarika Bhatia
and our Management Representative Mrs. Viciny Vellapan lighting the
lamp, an act depicting the victory of light over darkness.
The student council members stood there with heads high , vested with
their representative blazers promising their support and commitment towards the students. The most auspicious moment of the ceremony was
When every leader was called upon the stage and made a pledge, to
stand upon their words used for their brilliance.
At the end our Principal showered blessings and said words in gold for
our conquerors to achieve more in life.
