Feature: Sponsorship Day Update
Dear Pastor Rick Raines,
The following is a true story. I know because it happened to
my family very recently.
page two ■ Wednesday, February 18, 2015
On Sunday, February 1st during breakfast, my daughter,
Elizabeth, asked me, “Are we getting a new kid by Friday?” As
you can imagine I was rather bewildered and confused. When I
expressed my confusion, she went and got a book that was on
my end table entitled How to Have a New Kid by Friday. As I tried
very hard to not laugh, I explained that it was a parenting book
about helping kids be their very best selves. Her response was “I
like my idea better.” So the day began with a cute amusing story!
We arrive at the 8:15 service where we are blessed with the
performance by the Rise Up! Group. Then we learn about Niños
de Mexico. Then we hear (and listen to) your excellent sermon
about loving, serving, and encouraging each other. We hear loud
and clear, God!
After service, we went straight to the Niños de Mexico table
and inquired about children who were around Daniel and
Elizabeth’s age (age 6). As we peeked through the cards, we
came upon a 5 year old boy named Benji. When Mick
O’Hanahan told me about Benji’s story, I knew this was the little
boy we were to sponsor (plus the cute fact he wants to be a
veterinarian to take care of animals like the ones on Noah’s Ark).
Daniel and Elizabeth (well, all of the family) are so excited to
correspond with Benji!

I had no idea that I would leave church with indeed a new kid
by Friday. God knew, though! He always knows! We are so
blessed that God led us to Fairmount Church. We are blessed to
have found a church that encourages us to love and serve others!
Thank you,
Stephanie Kramer (the mom with the boy/girl twins who sits in the front at the 8:15 service)
