Japan Travel Fair 2014 at Takashimaya Square
Singapore, 29 September 2014 – Meet-and-greet Japan’s professional sumo wrestlers and sample delectable ekiben (railway boxed meals) at the Japan Travel Fair (JTF) 2014! The Japan National Tourism Organization (JNTO) Singapore Office is
glad to present the annual JTF 2014 which is in its fourth year! The event will be held at Takashimaya Square, Basement 2,
from 3 to 6 October 2014, 1700hr to 1800hr (opening ceremony) and 1800hr to 2230hr (start of travel fair) for 3 October and
1000hr to 2230hr for 4 to 6 October.
As the JTF 2014 is an exclusive Japan travel event, it aims in supporting the participating travel agencies to boost their sales
for Japan bound group tours and FIT packages for the year-end holidays and the Chinese New Year holidays in 2015, as well
as last-minute demands for autumn-themed packages.
The JTF 2014 will be bigger in scale as compared to last year’s event. There are ten local participating travel agencies which
will be exhibitors alongside with JNTO’s partners. These travel partners are from the various Japanese prefectural and municipal offices, railway companies and other travel related organisations.

Savour delicious Japanese food products like the ekiben (railway boxed meals), Hokkaido soft cream, osenbei (Japanese rice
crackers) and many more!
Redemption of Exclusive Gifts at the Japan Travel Fair 2014
Visitors who purchase Japan-bound group tour packages, free and easy packages or return air tickets to Japan from the ten
participating travel agencies at the 4-day travel fair, may redeem attractive Japanese print motif towels. For the purchased
Japan bound packages that use the following carriers, All Nippon Airways (ANA), Japan Airlines (JAL) and Singapore Airlines
(SIA), visitors may also redeem exclusive gifts from the respective airlines.
On top of that, visitors who spend a minimum amount of S$2,800 and charge the purchases of Japan packages to their
DBS/POSB Credit or Debit Cards, would receive hard case wheeled-luggage. For the gift redemption, visitors must produce
the official receipts and all gifts are on a while stocks last basis!
Exciting Stage Performances at the Japan Travel Fair 2014
JNTO has lined up some exciting stage programmes for the 4-day travel event. The Japan’s professional sumo wrestlers will
be there to grace the opening ceremony and they will be having a meet-and-greet session at the travel fair. Besides introducing
Japan’s national sports of sumo wrestling, the visitors are able to find out more on Japan culture, food and travel, and tips on
taking vacation photos through presentations. There are even games and shopping quizzes which visitors will stand a chance
to win some attractive prizes.

Get a chance to meet the Grand Champion Sumo Wrestler Akebono Taro (64th Yokozuna) and Super Sumo Wrestlers Byacco,
Kaounishiki, Kousei and Takamisato in person! Akebono is the 64th Yokozuna Grand Champion who became the first
American-born sumo wrestler to receive the prestigious title of yokozuna. It is the highest rank in professional sumo wrestling.
Live Performances by Asian Pop Collective’s Artiste
4 October, Saturday – 1200hr to 1245hr and 1545hr to 1630hr
Valerie, a popular artiste from Asian Pop Collective will be performing her catchy anime-themed songs live!
Live Acoustic Performances by Amuse’s Artiste
6 October, Monday – 1430hr to 1515hr and 1900hr to 1945hr
Enjoy a string of lovely acoustic ballads by rising Japanese artiste, Sakura Fujiwara. This special performance is presented by
JAL and Amuse.
Learn the Art of Making Japanese Bento
5 October, Sunday – 1200hr to 1245hr and 1745hr to 1830hr
Little Miss Bento, the specialist for making Japanese Bento (Japanese lunch box), will be giving demonstrations on preparing
unique and adorable Japanese lunch boxes.

The Visit Japan Ambassador, Mr. George Lim, will conduct a sharing session on his Japan travel experiences and provide
some useful travel tips.

6 October, Monday – 1600hr to 1645hr
Canon Singapore will be presenting a photography talk session to highlight the dos and don’ts of taking good vacation photos.

There will be a quiz session introducing the revised tax-free shopping system in Japan which will take effect from October
2014. Answer some simple questions related to the Japan’s tax-free shopping and win some lovely gifts.
Joshi-Tabi (Girls’ Travel) Campaign
JNTO has launched the Joshi-Tabi campaign via its Facebook page on 1 August 2014. The Joshi-Tabi campaign introduces
travel information that feature beautiful sights, vibrant festivals and events, delectable dining options, interesting shopping
places and fun activities through daily Facebook page update. This campaign is targeted at female travellers who wish to travel
free and easy in Japan.
As part of the Joshi-Tabi campaign, there is also the ‘Share Your Japan Joshi-Tabi Experience’ which was launched in September 2014. This is a platform for visitors to share their memorable Japan travel experiences and they stand a chance to win
return air tickets to Tokyo. Fans of the JNTO’s Facebook page who have casted their votes on their favourite travel posts may
stand a chance to win prizes too!
