Influenced by Japanese lacquer decorations
the blossoming designs of Sallus burst into
life on pure white surfaces. With layers of rich
golden tones the design has a threedimensional quality and an artisan feel, it is a
modern take on an ancient Japanese emblem.
The strong lines of the stylised floral motifs are
delicate but distinct, like the Bone China pieces
they adorn and while beautifully decorative
the range is also functional; all pieces are
dishwasher and microwave safe.

The softened coloured dot motif is a theme
that Sperlein re-visits for Nikko, perfecting his
trademark decoration of a dash of colour.
Cloud surprises with a hint of colour revealed
as the piece is used. The softness of pale pink,
contemplative watery blues, light jade and
cloudy greys disperse from a solid pool fading
like a wash of paint in water.
水彩画を思わせるやわらかな色が、淡く薄れ、消えてゆ
く幻想的な雰囲気のパターンです。雲のような、ほのか
な色の表現は見るものに驚きを与えます。うすべに色、
水の青、翡翠色、霞がかったグレー。やわらか色による
ドットモチーフは、デザイナースパレンがニッコーと
コラボレーションするに当たってのひとつのテーマです。

The translucency of Bone China lends itself
perfectly to the fluid forms of the luminous
Blossom lights. A stunning addition to any
interior, they are currently available in two
complimentary pendant shapes; a slender
droplet and a full billowing pendant. Emitting
a soft dreamy glow, while beautiful individually,
when grouped together they resemble a drift
of illuminated clouds.

This signature collection of lighting highlights Bodo Sperlein’s interest in preserving
and celebrating traditional skills. In this case,
hand-made bone china flowers had fallen
from favour, and were considered kitsch.
With such a small group of ladies left in
Staffordshire dedicated to this craft, Sperlein
sought to ensure that these skills survived
into the 21st century. Delicate and detailed
plain white flowers were fused into a dramatic hand blown borosilicate glass pendant.
