One does not live on bread alone, but on every word that
comes forth from the mouth of God.
Happy Valentine’s Day!

Catholic Relief Services (CRS) Rice Bowl is CRS’ Lenten faith-in-action program
that invites Catholics to live in solidarity with our most vulnerable brothers and
sisters around the world through the three Lenten pillars of praying, fasting and
almsgiving.
This past year, the Archdiocese of Chicago helped raise funds for the Migrant and
Refugee Crisis, for those suffering in Nepal and throughout the Middle East, and
countless other global emergencies. In addition, over forty CRS Rice Bowl Grants
were given out to local parishes and organizations helping to fight hunger and
poverty here in the Chicago area. Please remember that when you give to CRS
Rice Bowl, 75 percent of your donations support CRS’ humanitarian relief programs
in nearly one hundred countries worldwide and 25 percent of your donations go to
hunger and poverty alleviation efforts in your own community.
In his recent trip to the Central African Republic, Pope Francis reminded us that,
“...our human dignity is expressed by our working for the dignity of our fellow man.”
We recognize Christ in our brothers and sisters, close and afar, especially in the
most vulnerable. CRS Rice Bowl encourages the Catholic community to pray
together daily throughout Lent and to make Lenten sacrifices that uplift the world’s
poor, reminding us that what one gives up for Lent truly changes lives. There are
many resources that can help your parish community experience an enriched
Lenten spirituality.
In order to ground our work in prayer during the Lenten season, CRS Rice Bowl is
offering two retreats and trainings - in English on Saturday, January 23 and in
Spanish on Saturday, February 13. Overseas staff of CRS from Ghana and
Honduras will provide keynote presentations at each retreat. We invite all those
participating in CRS Rice Bowl to join the Archdiocese in prayer and reflection by
attending. For more information about CRS Rice Bowl and these retreats, please
visit: www.ChicagoPeaceAndJustice.org/RiceBowl.
Thank you for participating in CRS Rice Bowl this Lent. May your faith community
experience a true witness of love during this year’s Lenten season. Please pray for
me as I continue to pastorally lead the faithful of the Archdiocese of Chicago.
With every good wish, I remain,
Sincerely yours in Christ,
Most Reverend Blase J. Cupich
Archbishop of Chicago

deseos, quedo:
Sinceramente suyo en Cristo

Akcja „Miska ryżu” Katolickiej Organizacji Niesienia Pomocy (Catholic Relief
okres Wielkiego Postu. CRS zaprasza katolików do czynnej solidarności z
najbiedniejszymi i najbardziej narażonymi na cierpienia braćmi i siostrami na całym
świecie praktykując trzy filary Wielkiego Postu: modlitwę, post i jałmużnę.
ubóstwa w Chicago i okolicach.
zwalczanie głodu i nędzy w Waszym własnym środowisku.
Podczas swojej ostatniej podróży do Republiki Środkowoafrykańskiej Papież
Dostrzegamy Chrystusa w naszych siostrach i
braciach w tych, którzy znajdują się blisko nas i w tych oddalonych, a
szczególnie w tych najbardziej narażonych na cierpienia. Program „Miska ryżu”
zachęca wspólnoty katolickie do codziennej wspólnej modlitwy w okresie
proponuje udział w rekolekcjach i sesjach treningowych – w języku angielskim, w
sobotę 23 stycznia i w języku hiszpańskim, w sobotę 13 lutego. Głównymi
mówcami każdego z tych spotkań będą pracownicy CRS z Ghany i Hondurasu.
Zapraszamy wszystkich uczestniczących w programie „Miska ryżu” do włączenia
przewodnictwo duchowe wiernym Archidiecezji Chicago. Z najlepszymi życzeniami,
wciąż jestem
Oddany Wam w Chrystusie,

Lenten Prayer
Almighty and Everlasting God,
You have given the human race
Jesus Christ our Savior as a model of humility.
He fulfilled Your Will by becoming Man
And giving His life on the Cross.
Help us to bear witness to You
By following His example of suffering
And make us worthy to share in His Resurrection.
We ask this through our Lord Jesus Christ, Your Son.
Amen.

“We strongly urge that the administration end its deleterious
practice of detaining immigrant women and children. There
is simply no humane way to detain children. Additionally, it
is imperative that the administration and Congress support
humanitarian efforts in the region that will help to end the
violence and stop conditions that force people to flee their
homes.”

Greeting
The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God and the Communion of
the Holy Spirit be with you all. And with your Spirit
Penitential Act
I confess to almighty God and to you, my brothers and sisters, that I have
greatly sinned, in my thoughts and in my words, in what I have done and in what
I have failed to do, through my fault, through my fault, through my most grievous
fault; therefore I ask blessed Mary ever-Virgin, all the Angels an Saints, and you,
my brothers and sisters, to pray for me to the Lord our God.
May almighty God have mercy on us, forgive us our sins, and bring us to
everlasting life. AMEN
Catholic Campaign for Human Development
Thank you St. Turibius for your gracious donation to the Catholic Campaign for Human
Development (CCHD) of $865.00. Your parish community’s tremendous generosity will go towards
helping fund organizations throughout the Archdiocese of Chicago that reflect our values in the public
arena.
The Catholic Campaign for Human Development is the official anti-poverty program of the U.S.
Bishops which helps fund community-led organizations that address a number of issues that affect
economically-distressed communities. CCHD animates our principles of Catholic Social Teaching
by supporting campaigns such as affordable housing, workers’ rights, environmental sustainability,
restorative justice, disability rights and so many more.
For more information on the organizations that you and the Catholic community are supporting,
please visit: www.ChicagoPeaceAndJustice.org/CCHD. Again, thank you for your extremely
generous contribution and we hope you continue to support the work of the Catholic Campaign
for Human Development. With every good with, I remain.
Sincerely,
Joanna Arellano, Program Cordinator

Parish Mission Statement
We Believe that God is Love, and when we
live in love we live in God and God lives in
us! Therefore we, the Parish Family of Saint
Turibius, dedicate ourselves to living out
Christ’s Great Commandment: we will love
the Lord our God with all our heart, with all
our soul, with all our mind, and with all our
strength, and we will show our love for God
by the way we love and care for one another.
To this end, we will respond to our baptismal
call, strengthened by the life, death and
resurrection of Jesus Christ and empowered by
the Holy Spirit. As a Family of Faith that has
an Attitude of Gratitude for the gifts God has
given to us, we will share our time, our talent
and our treasure with each other. We welcome
into our parish family all people, because we
believe that together we are the Body of Christ
and together we can bring the love, peace,
forgiveness, healing, and joy of Christ into our
community in ways we never could have if we
were to remain apart. May all who meet us,
who worship with us, who work and play with
us, know we are Christians by our love!
