Shree Swaminarayan Mandir is opening its doors to the
entire community for a spectacular six day festival of
music, dance, colour and spirituality.
We invite you to join us for the Shree Swaminarayan Mandir Kingsbury Grand
Opening Festival, in the presence of our worldwide spiritual leader, Acharya
Swamishree Maharaj.
About Us
The Mandir, in Kingsbury northwest London is part of the Shree Muktajeevan
Swamibapa Complex, which also houses state of the art community and sports
facilities as well as a local enterprise centre. It is the world’s first ‘eco-Mandir’ due to
its environmental design. The Mandir will be an asset to the entire community and a
force for societal good.
This Festival aims to inspire the entire community to put ‘society before oneself’ under
Acharya Swamishree Maharaj’s guidance of, “Dedicating one's life to the service of
others is the truest celebration of a festival.” Preceding this festival we have already
hosted the local Sport Relief Mile, raised over £30,000 for the local St Luke’s Hospice
and held a number of blood donation sessions. We will continue with these and other
charitable endeavours in the years to come.
The Complex is the London branch of Maninagar Shree Swaminarayan Gadi
Sansthan, a worldwide Hindu organisation based in Ahmedabad, India, which
promotes social, cultural, charitable, educational and religious values.

Open Air Events - Dance Show
Accurately describing the spectacular nature of this evening would be a futile effort.
With over 200 dancers performing through the night, capped off by a finale
comprising around 300, you really need to experience this event to appreciate it.
A cultural fusion of east and west, the show will feature Irish jigs, contemporary street
dance, traditional dandiya raas, a drum corps and much more besides. International
in nature and international in its delivery; the dances will be performed by the
talented and skilled disciples of Shree Swaminarayan Gadi from around the world.
The world renowned Shree Muktajeevan Pipe Band will also perform during the evening.
Dance is an integral part of religion and devotion, as it can be regarded as a form
of asceticism. The origin of the word asceticism actually refers to the discipline that
athletes impose upon themselves in order to achieve command over the mind and
body. The dedication, routine and repetition pursuit of perfection and ultimate selfcontrol are all disciplines common to the Swaminarayan way of life, and to dance.
Dance brings the mind and body together; religious dance therefore brings the mind,
body and soul together in a unique way. And so religious dance is natural to a
disciple of Lord Swaminarayanbapa Swamibapa and Acharya Swamishree Maharaj.
Recognising that dancing has this great ability to enable religious experiences,
Acharya Swamishree Maharaj has established dance academies around the world
as integral parts of Mandirs. Religious dance events, such as the evening of Friday
22nd August, showcase these philosophies and talents to the world.
